Antonio Gibson, Antonio Gibson Flashing Speed, Receiving Skills At OTAs

New England Patriots running back Antonio Gibson signed a three-year contract to join the organization this offseason, and early reviews from Patriots beat writer Brian Hines are encouraging. "Antonio Gibson's speed was evident in the no-contact setting, as well as his wide receiver background," Hines wrote for PatsPulpit.com. "Gibson should have a role for himself in this offense." It's the first day of organized team activities, and fantasy managers shouldn't be too high on the former Washington Commander yet, but he has a path to fantasy relevance as a pass-catcher behind or alongside Rhamondre Stevenson. The 25-year-old played wideout in his college career at Memphis and posted 172 receptions for 1,283 yards and seven receiving touchdowns through his first 61 NFL games. He's a solid late-round flyer in PPR leagues, as veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett or rookie Drake Maye could utilize him as a checkdown option often given the lack of high-end pass-catchers on the New England roster. Gibson's 13 fumbles since entering the league rank third-most since 2020, but if he can clean that part of his game up, he should be worthwhile on fantasy rosters.

Brian Robinson Jr., Brian Robinson Jr. Still Considered "Top Back" By Some

According to 33rd Team's Marcus Mosher, Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. is still viewed by some as the No. 1 option on the depth chart. Without question, Austin Ekeler's presence has many believing Robinson's role will significantly reduce. However, Mosher indicated this might not be the case, especially with a change in the coaching staff, including new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, who helped James Conner remain a viable fantasy threat during his time as the head coach in Arizona. Robinson has appeared in 27 games for the Commanders over the last two seasons. Although the 25-year-old wasn't always consistent, he still amassed 1,530 yards and seven touchdowns off 383 carries. He also scored five times on the receiving end. Surely, Ekeler will get his touches. Yet, fantasy managers shouldn't dismiss Robinson, with his ceiling rising even more if Ekeler goes down with an injury at some point in the year.

Nate Sudfeld, Nate Sudfeld Returning To Lions

The Detroit Lions have re-signed quarterback Nate Sudfeld on Wednesday. The 30-year-old served as the backup to Jared Goff during the 2022 season. He was slated to compete with Teddy Bridgewater, but he has retired this offseason. That being said, Sudfeld figures to compete with Hendon Hooker for the backup job in Detroit next season. The former sixth-round pick has played in six games since debuting in 2017. Sudfeld won't offer any fantasy value heading into next season.

Steven Sims Jr., Steven Sims Returning To Texans

The Houston Texans have re-signed wide receiver Steven Sims to a one-year deal on Wednesday. Sims was cut by the Texans during training camp last season but ended up joining the practice squad later in the year. He was quiet as a receiver but has been used more as a punt returner. Sims has been a dynamic returner throughout his career which is likely why the Texans decided to bring him back in 2024.

Jamison Crowder, Jamison Crowder Re-Signs With Commanders

Wide receiver Jamison Crowder re-signed with the Washington Commanders on Wednesday on an undisclosed one-year deal, according to a source. In his return to D.C. in 2023, Crowder caught just 16 passes on 20 targets for 159 yards and one touchdown in 17 games played. The 30-year-old veteran slot man mostly served as the team's punt returner last year and will once again play a depth role at the receiver position in 2024 behind Jahan Dotson. Washington originally made Crowder a fourth-round pick in 2015 out of Duke. His best season came in Year 2 in 2016, when he caught 67 passes for a career-high 847 yards and seven touchdowns in 16 games. Unless injuries strike to several Commanders pass-catchers in 2024, it's unlikely that Crowder will be on the fantasy radar at this stage of his career.
