Report Inappropriate Users in Mock Drafts

Kevin Day, March 13th, 2010

You now have the ability to report an abusive user in a mock draft.  There is a new box below the chat box where you can send an abuse message against a particular user.  It automatically records information about that user and a copy of the chat transcript up until that point.

Don’t take it lightly though.  If you disagree with someone taking a player in round 2 when they could last until round 3, don’t report them.  However, if they take Taco Wallce in round 1, don’t hesitate to report them.

If a person gets enough reports filed on them, they can be banned.  The process for determining who gets banned is complex, and may change over time.  If you’re doing a draft and chatting normally then you don’t have anything to worry about, even if someone accidentally clicks the report button on you.  This is designed to keep out the extreme outlyiers who insist on actively destroying the drafts.

If you report a person, they will remain in that draft, but they may be prevented from joining future drafts.  If there’s a need to actively remove people from the draft they’re initially reported in, then that could be added later.  I think this solution should help solve most of the problem with abusive drafters.

If you think you may have been banned, send an email to support@fantasyfootballcalculator.com, and we’ll get it sorted out.  There may occasionally be times when a good user is accidentally banned, but if you send an email to support, your account can be whitelisted for the drafts.

I would also like to take this time to thank everyone who does participate appropriately in the mock drafts.  The vast majority of you take your drafts seriously and make the discussions fun and insightful.

I find that a lot of times, people draft a kicker in the 1st round and then try to make up the difference during the rest of the draft. It’s almost like forcing yourself to start your draft with a disadvantage and then trying to test your skills to see if you can make up the difference and still have a solid team at the end. I personally don’t have a problem with this. Again, these are just fake drafts so I don’t see that it really matters.

to me, the preparation that mock drafts offer matters a great deal. last year, there were several people drafting kickers or no-names in round one and then taunted other draftees in the chat box

if someone wants to challenge themselves with disadvantage, they can always increase the amount of players drafting.

for example: you’ve got a 12 team draft coming up, try drating in a 14-team mock.

perhaps it can be set in the system that, say, only the top 50 players per ADP can be chosen in round one of a 12 team draft?

and then, in round two, only the top 75 players ADP?

just a thought.

I’m not sure I agree with that idea, Wisco. Especially early in the spring when there haven’t been many drafts and player rankings seem to be rather arbitrary.

I was going to argue that the default rankings on this site are usually a little off, but then I realized that since ADP is aggregate, you’ll be drafting within the consensus Top 75, for example. Guess I can’t really argue with that. No sense drafting Steve Breaston in the second round, right?

Speaking of ADP, are we getting the graph back this year? I’ve kind of enjoyed using that and tracking players over the last few seasons.

Lets face it people, anyone doing a draft will not draft a kicker 1st overall. And they would not draft a free agent 1st overall on the chance they will play 3,4,5th string on a team. People do this on purpose to tick off other people, I hate it, any one here seriously doing a mock draft hates it. I applaud FFC for putting this in place!
