If you’re one of the lucky people out there who owns an iPad, you’ll be happy to hear that you can do a mock draft your iPad. It doesn’t require any special apps either. Just sign up for a draft normally on the mock draft page, and you can use the same draft room as non-magical computers would.

There is one tricky part though. The iPad has different touch controls for navigating lists, so to scroll through the list of players, you need to scroll with two fingers, not just one. See the picture below for how it’s done:

It takes a little adjustment at first, but it soon gets pretty easy.

There are new improvements that make the site easier and more fun to use. The first is an option to turn on an audible sound when it’s your turn to draft. The second is a redesign of the user dashboard.

Draft Sound Alert

Based on user requests, in the mock draft room you can now turn on an option to play a soft “ding” to alert you when the draft starts and when it’s your turn to pick. It’s a nice gentle reminder to get back to the draft if you’re busy doing something else.

Redesigned Dashboard

Registered users will immediately recognize that their personal dashboards have been rejuvenated. You can now more easily access your favorite fantasy football applications from one “Ultimate Dashboard.”

It’s the Ultimate Fantasy Football Dashboard because it helps you attack many aspects of fantasy football from one page: Mock Drafts, Simulating Drafts, Tracking Drafts, and Lineup Analysis and Monitoring.

The interface has been improved to a tabbed view and cleaned up significantly. It also shows how many mock drafts you’ve done so far so that you can brag to your friends about it. It has the same functionality where you can filter mock drafts by team size and sort them by projected fantasy points.

Be Prepared

As always this time of year, the name of the game is preparation. Try different strategies, see where players are falling, and of course, have fun. These recent changes should help you accomplish all of these objectives.

If you have a free account you can upgrade to get access to the premium applicaitons. If you’re new you can sign up directly for a premium membership to start using the most useful fantasy football applications available.

Two new site updates for anyone that’s wanted to either:

Use the draftboard to to help monitor a draft in real-time, or

Start a new draft with only computers

These new products are the Draft Calculator and Draft Simulator. They’re part of the 2008 Membership Package, which also includes the Lineup Calculator and saved Mock Drafts.

The Draft Calculator lets you pick a team size (6 to 18 teams), number of rounds (up to 20) and draft position. You then manually enter every draft pick during your live draft to easily see how the draft is going.

This is an early version of the Draft Calculator, and it does not offer any suggested picks (that will be next year). It is a good tool for visualizing a draft in action. You don’t want to waste precious time scrambling to see if the guy next to you has already drafted a QB.

The Draft Simulator is similar to the Draft Calculator except that the computer selects for everyone else in the draft. It’s especially useful if you need to prepare for a draft with more than 15 rounds.

These two additions have been requested by a lot of people, and it’s exciting to see the draftboard used for other applications than just mock drafts. You can get started now by signing up for a membership.
