Just enter your email address on step two of the mock draft signup page and then you’ll see a button inside your draftboard.  When the draft is over, click on that button and your team will be sent to the Rate My Team tool.  You’ll then get an email with a link to your automatically analyzed team.  All of the league settings will be pre-populated for you.  Analyzing your team will also sign you up for Football Guys’ informative daily email newsletter.

Check it out the next time you do a draft.  The analysis is extremely thorough and you’ll get tips on how your roster could be improved from multiple Football Guys experts.

It’s been by far the most requested addition, and you can rest now that it’s officially part of the site.

The scoring format for the PPR drafts also include a change to the starting lineup.  Instead of 3 WRs, it’s now 2 WRs and a RB/WR flex.  That kind of format seems to be one of the most popular, and fits well with the one point per reception.

The rankings for the PPR drafts are nearly identical to the standard drafts at the moment.  However, as more PPR drafts are conducted, the rankings for the PPR drafts will eventually reflect more accurate PPR rankings over the course of the next few days.

Also, the ADP page will show average draft positions for PPR/Flex drafts after a few days worth of data have been built up.

Lastly, premium members have the new PPR/Flex option in the Draft Calculator and Draft Simulator as well.  If you have one of those formats for your main league, you’ll now be able to more accurately practice with that draft format.

Also, just about all of the drafted rookies from the first few rounds have been entered and assigned to their respective teams.  Ryan Matthews is already a fifth round pick, and he may be on his way up higher.  Get your mock on and get ready for 2010!

Don’t take it lightly though.  If you disagree with someone taking a player in round 2 when they could last until round 3, don’t report them.  However, if they take Taco Wallce in round 1, don’t hesitate to report them.

If a person gets enough reports filed on them, they can be banned.  The process for determining who gets banned is complex, and may change over time.  If you’re doing a draft and chatting normally then you don’t have anything to worry about, even if someone accidentally clicks the report button on you.  This is designed to keep out the extreme outlyiers who insist on actively destroying the drafts.

If you report a person, they will remain in that draft, but they may be prevented from joining future drafts.  If there’s a need to actively remove people from the draft they’re initially reported in, then that could be added later.  I think this solution should help solve most of the problem with abusive drafters.

If you think you may have been banned, send an email to support@fantasyfootballcalculator.com, and we’ll get it sorted out.  There may occasionally be times when a good user is accidentally banned, but if you send an email to support, your account can be whitelisted for the drafts.

There, now you’re up to speed and ready to draft smart this year.

Draft Sound Alert

Based on user requests, in the mock draft room you can now turn on an option to play a soft “ding” to alert you when the draft starts and when it’s your turn to pick.  It’s a nice gentle reminder to get back to the draft if you’re busy doing something else.

Redesigned Dashboard

Registered users will immediately recognize that their personal dashboards have been rejuvenated.  You can now more easily access your favorite fantasy football applications from one “Ultimate Dashboard.”



It’s the Ultimate Fantasy Football Dashboard because it helps you attack many aspects of fantasy football from one page: Mock Drafts, Simulating Drafts, Tracking Drafts, and Lineup Analysis and Monitoring.

The interface has been improved to a tabbed view and cleaned up significantly.  It also shows how many mock drafts you’ve done so far so that you can brag to your friends about it.  It has the same functionality where you can filter mock drafts by team size and sort them by projected fantasy points.

Be Prepared

As always this time of year, the name of the game is preparation.  Try different strategies, see where players are falling, and of course, have fun.  These recent changes should help you accomplish all of these objectives.

If you have a free account you can upgrade to get access to the premium applicaitons.  If you’re new you can sign up directly for a premium membership to start using the most useful fantasy football applications available.

There is now a new draft every two minutes, with extra 8, 10, and 14-team drafts every hour.  So far that balance seems to be working well.

“Hey, there’s a few decent QBs left.  I might be able to stock up on a RB or WR now and also sneak a solid QB in the next round. What a steal that would be!”

Well, that’s what I was thinking in this 10-team draft as team #10. At the turn for rounds 5 and 6, I took a gamble that didn’t pay off.

I selected Willie Parker and DeSean Jackson in rounds 5 and 6 with the hope of finding either Romo, Ryan, or McNabb waiting for me in round 7.  Alas, they were all gone.  I resorted to drafting a quarterback in my personal 3rd tier of QBs, Matt Schaub, in round 8.

As this team stands, I’m not that happy with it, but it’s not too bad.  I have tons of depth in RB and WR that could be used as trade bait if needed.

I think this also demonstrates the well-known problem of drafting at the turn.  It’s hard to predict what everyone else will do when you have a long time in between picks.

At the time, it wasn’t clear if it was a fluke or a new trend in how NFL offenses operate.  To follow up the original article with data from 2008, it looks like it probably is a trend.

According to Pro-Football-Reference, there were 6 wide receivers with 90 or more receptions while only 5 running backs received 300 or more carries.

Both high-use wide receivers and running backs dipped last year, with running back studs dropping to a low not previously seen this century.

Based on the previous trend in this graph, these two graphs don’t intersect much.  There was a running back bubble period where up to a thirteen running backs received 300 carries or more.  However, no one is expecting that to happen this year.

Just like the stock market has bull and bear cycles, the NFL appears to have passing and rushing cycles.  Since the next couple of years look to be pass-heavy, it’s easy to imagine Jim Cramer screaming “BUY BUY BUY!” on wide receivers.
