There's an interesting trend happening with quarterbacks this year. Based on ADP data, there are none being drafted in the first 20 picks of a 12 team standard draft. In 2012, there were five.
This change in drafting strategy may be due to the 2012 performance of QBs. Looking at the fantasy points scored by the top 24 quarterbacks, the top five scored 30-40 points less in 2012 than 2011. However, the rest of the pack scored more in 2012 than 2011, thanks to the influx of talented rookies like Andrew Luck, RG3, and Russell Wilson. So the point distribution curve is flatter:
The urgency to draft one of the top QBs is not as pressing this year since you can get good value in later rounds. Keep this in mind when deciding when to pick up a QB.
