Detroit Lions running back Benny Snell was released by the team as they pared their roster down to 53 men on Tuesday. The former Kentucky Wildcat spent the last four seasons with the Steelers, where he compiled 982 rushing yards on 275 carries (3.6 YPC) and seven touchdowns, mostly in a backup role. He'll try to latch on with another team or be signed to Detroit's practice squad ahead of the regular season.
