Trey Palmer, Jalen McMillan To Compete For No. 3 Job

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer had a good rookie season in 2023 considering his draft status and with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in front of him, but he has far from secured the No. 3 spot in an offensive system that is sure to be 11-personnel heavy in his second season. However, Palmer should be a lock for the active roster out of training camp, as should rookie Jalen McMillan, who the Buccaneers spent a Day 2 pick on in a deep receiver class. Palmer and McMillan are expected to battle for the No. 3 job in training camp this summer. With Godwin expected to move back into the slot in 2024, Palmer may struggle to match his rookie numbers (39 catches, 385 yards, three touchdowns), especially if McMillan impresses.

Trey Palmer A Risky DFS Option

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer has found the end zone in two of his last three games. Last week, Palmer hauled in one of his two targets for 56 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The rookie wideout was quiet in the game outside of his huge score. It's worth noting that Palmer has 40 receiving yards or more in three of his last four games. However, he's still the third option on this offense behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin (knee) who is currently on the injury report. If Godwin sits, Palmer would likely see a bigger role in the offense. Otherwise, Palmer will likely remain an afterthought as he only has three total receptions in his last two games.

Trey Palmer Delivers Long Catch-And-Run Touchdown In Win Over Eagles

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer caught one of his two targets for 56 yards and a touchdown in the Wild Card victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. The rookie took a short pass and took it all the way to the end zone, opening a 25-9 lead for Tampa Bay late in the third quarter. The sixth-rounder from Nebraska posted just 39 receptions for 385 yards and three scores during the regular season, so he remains a touchdown-or-bust DFS option in a favorable matchup with the Detroit Lions in the NFC Divisional Round.

Trey Palmer Not A Viable Option For Wild-Card Round

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer has seen an increased involvement in the offense over the last few weeks. In fact, Palmer has hauled in 10 of his 13 targets over the last three games. During that span, Palmer has posted two games with over 40 receiving yards and scored one touchdown. The rookie wideout has moved his way up in the pecking order, but remains the third option in the passing game. The expectation is that Palmer will see a handful of chances this weekend. However, he remains a shaky option for DFS contests given that he's the third option in the passing game.

Trey Palmer Active For Week 18

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer (hip) is officially active for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction after practicing every day this past week. The rookie seems to have emerged as Tampa Bay's No. 3 wide receiver behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, especially after totaling 84 yards and one touchdown while playing 73 percent of offensive snaps in Week 17. He's an appealing dynasty stash but can be left on waivers for the final week of the season in redraft leagues.

Trey Palmer Questionable For Season Finale

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Trey Palmer (hip) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable to play in Sunday's Week 18 regular season finale against the Carolina Panthers. The 22-year-old will most likely play in a must-win game for the Buccaneers to win the NFC South title, but he might need to prove he's healthy during a pre-game workout on Sunday first. If he suits up, Palmer will continue to work behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in the receiving pecking order, making it hard for him to produce fantasy relevant numbers. Palmer hasn't been bad in his first NFL season, catching 37 passes for 375 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games, but fantasy managers can probably do better when searching for a flex play in Week 18. If he doesn't play, Deven Thompkins would likely serve as Tampa's No. 3 wideout.

Trey Palmer Remains Limited In Practice

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer (hip) was a limited participant during Thursday's practice session. This marks back-to-back days that Palmer has been able to get through a limited practice. This is a bad time for Palmer to get injured with his role starting to expand in the offense. Over the last two weeks, Palmer has eight receptions for over 120 yards. Despite that, Palmer remains a the third option in this offense behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. That being said, both Evans and Godwin would likely see an even bigger target share if Palmer was to sit out in Week 18.

Trey Palmer Has Risky Value

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer has been much more successful over the last two weeks. The rookie wideout has eight receptions for over 120 yards over his last two games. It's nice to see the 22-year-old getting more involved in the offense. However, Palmer remains the third option behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in this passing game. That being said, there isn't a ton of value for Palmer heading into this Week 18 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Possibly, DFS players could use Palmer as a dart throw. However, Palmer remains a risky choice with both Evans and Godwin healthy heading into this game.

Trey Palmer Limited In Wednesday’s Practice

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer (hip) was a limited participant in Wednesday's team practice. Palmer appears to be tending to a hip issue that he suffered last week against the New Orleans Saints. The rookie wideout is coming off his best game of the season, catching four passes for a career-high 84 yards and one touchdown. He'll have two more chances to upgrade his practice status before the Buccaneers take on the Carolina Panthers in Week 18. Palmer doesn't provide much value this weekend in both DFS contests and season-long formats. However, he has seen at least five targets in back-to-back games.

Trey Palmer Posts Quality Outing In Loss

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer was a nice sparkplug for this offense during Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. The rookie wideout had a few big plays during Sunday's defeat. He hauled in four of his five targets for 84 yards and a touchdown in this game. Palmer snagged a 54-yard reception, but eventually fumbled the ball, which killed the Bucs comeback attempt. Regardless, it was a nice outing for the rookie wideout who has been having a bigger role in the offense lately. However, he'll barely be on the fantasy radar for the regular season finale versus the Carolina Panthers next week.

Trey Palmer Targeted Six Times

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer has been quiet lately, but was able to make a little more noise on Sunday. The rookie wideout hauled in four of his six targets for 42 yards in the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Palmer took a backseat to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in the passing game. However, Palmer was still able to contribute and posted a decent line for himself. It's nice to see the young wideout putting together a few good games, but he remains a distant third option at wide receiver. He's not consistent enough to trust in fantasy formats heading into next week's matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

Trey Palmer Could Be More Involved

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer has put together a fairly quiet rookie campaign. He has three receptions for 17 yards over his last two games. Normally, he's avoidable in all fantasy formats. However, he could see an increased role this weekend with fellow wideout Chris Godwin (knee) considered a game-time decision. That means, Palmer could be asked to take over as the No. 2 option at wide receiver for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. This looks nice on paper, but Palmer hasn't been able to do much at all this season. He'd be a risky streaming option even with an increased role for Sunday. Possibly, desperate fantasy managers in deep leagues could take a chance on him, but he's not a trustworthy option.

Trey Palmer Active In Week 10

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Trey Palmer (illness, neck) is officially active for Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans. Palmer came into Sunday's game as questionable with a neck injury and an illness, but he will suit up and serve as the team's No. 3 wideout behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Through his first eight NFL games, Palmer has hauled in 15 of his 28 targets for 167 yards and two touchdowns. The 22-year-old should be rostered in all dynasty/keeper leagues, but he's a tough sell as a WR4/flex option in most single-year fantasy leagues as long as both Evans and Godwin remain healthy.

Trey Palmer Listed As Questionable For Week 10

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer (neck, illness) is listed as questionable for Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans. Palmer is currently dealing with a neck injury and an illness, which limited him in Wednesday's practice. He registered a DNP on Thursday but got in a full practice on Friday so even though he is being listed as questionable, he has a good chance of playing in Week 10. The rookie wideout has 15 receptions (28 targets) for 167 yards and two scores on the season but is a WR4 for fantasy purposes as he's well behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on the Buccaneers' target pecking order. Week 10 has some explosive offenses on bye, however, so if you plan on flexing Palmer, be sure to check his status prior to kickoff on Sunday.

Trey Palmer Gets In Limited Practice With Neck Issue

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer (neck) practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday ahead of his team's Week 10 game against the Tennessee Titans. Palmer was productive in a Week 9 loss to the Houston Texans as he caught three passes for 54 yards in the game. Provided the rookie doesn't get downgraded on Thursday or Friday's injury reports, he has a chance to play through the injury in Week 10. Palmer has caught 15 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns in eight games this season.

Trey Palmer Could See More Action

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer has been fairly quiet to begin the season. The rookie wideout has nine receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns in six games this season. He is a distant third option behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin (neck) in this offense. However, Godwin is currently listed as questionable for Thursday's matchup against the Buffalo Bills. His absence would likely mean an increased usage for Palmer. The sixth-round pick has only one game this season with four or more targets. Although, the absence of Godwin would probably mean more chances for Palmer. Despite that, fantasy managers should consider him a desperation PPR option, assuming Godwin does sit out in Week 8.

Trey Palmer Could See More Involvement

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer has been fairly quiet through the first four games this season. The rookie wideout is a distant third option behind Mike Evans (hamstring) and Chris Godwin. However, Palmer could have a bigger role in the offense if Evans is forced to sit out in Week 6. This season, Palmer has six receptions on nine targets for 42 yards and a touchdown. The absence of Evans could give Palmer some deep league streaming appeal.

Trey Palmer - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer made his NFL debut against the Minnesota Vikings last week. The rookie wideout hauled in two of his three targets for eight yards and a touchdown. Palmer is a sixth-round pick from this year's draft that looked impressive during training camp. However, he's unlikely to have a high usage with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin being the primary targets in the receiving game. Palmer will probably get a few balls thrown his way, but not enough to have reliable fantasy value. Palmer is worth holding in dynasty leagues, but is off the fantasy radar for the Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Trey Palmer Catches Touchdown In Debut

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer made his NFL debut against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The 22-year-old started the game as the third wideout behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Palmer was able to hauled in two of his three targets for eight yards and a touchdown in the win. It was his first career game, so Palmer should continue to get better as he gets more familiar with the system. However, he'll probably always be the third option behind Evans and Godwin. That being said, Palmer probably won't be worth rostering outside of dynasty leagues right now.

Sep 10, 2023 10:29 PM EST

Trey Palmer Won't Be Trustworthy For Week 1

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer has found himself in an interesting spot to open the season. Fellow wide receiver Russell Gage (knee) is out for the season, which opened up the No. 3 role on the roster. During the preseason, Palmer played extremely well and earned himself that third spot at wideout. It looks nice on paper, but Palmer probably won't have a ton of action right away. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are going to be the primary receivers on this team. The Bucs do have a favorable matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. Although, it's uncertain if the Bucs will be a pass-heavy team with newcomer Baker Mayfield under center. That being said, Palmer is more of a stash option right now. He could very well step into a bigger role especially if Evans or Godwin goes down with an injury. For now, Palmer can remain on the bench in most formats.
