Bengals Re-Sign Jake Browning

The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed exclusive-rights free-agent quarterback Jake Browning to an undisclosed two-year deal on Tuesday on a contract through the 2025 season. Browning got his first real shot in the NFL last year with the Bengals when he was forced to replace Joe Burrow (wrist) after his season-ending injury. In his first nine games (seven starts) played in the NFL, he held his own and kept the Bengals competitive despite not making the playoffs, posting a league-best 70.4 completion percentage, 1,936 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The 28-year-old will return to being the primary backup to Burrow in 2024, so he won't have any real fantasy appeal unless Burrow misses time with another injury.

Bengals Issue Tender To Jake Browning

The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Thursday that quarterback Jake Browning has been issued a tender, which assures the team that they will retain his exclusive rights for the 2024 season. Browning now has the option of signing the team's tender offer or negotiating a long-term deal with the club. The 27-year-old made his NFL debut in 2023 for the Bengals and was forced into a starting role due to injuries to Joe Burrow. Browning ended up appearing in nine games (seven starts) and acquitted himself well with a league-high 70.4% completion percentage with 1,936 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He's fully expected to be Burrow's top backup for the 2024 season, but he won't be on the fantasy radar again unless Burrow misses more time due to injury.

Jake Browning Throws Three Touchdowns To End The Year

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning threw for 156 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception off 18-for-24 passing in Sunday's win over the Browns. He added two carries for 18 yards. The Bengals had nothing to play for, considering they were eliminated from postseason contention after losing to the Chiefs in Week 17. However, the signal-caller still ended the year on a high note. Although Browning's efforts weren't enough to lead the Bengals to the playoffs after taking over for Joe Burrow (wrist) earlier in the year, he likely did enough to solidify his backup job for the 2024-25 campaign. Of course, unless Browning gets put into a similar situation next season, he won't see much interest from fantasy managers in drafts heading into Week 1.

Jake Browning Ready To Roll For Week 18

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning (foot) doesn't carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's showdown with the Browns. The signal-caller didn't practice on Wednesday because of a foot issue. However, he logged full sessions on Thursday and Friday, so he wasn't in any real danger of missing the finale. Browning has played better than expected after Joe Burrow (wrist) went down for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign. Although he hasn't been a consistent fantasy producer, managers still have received some valuable performances from him this season. The 27-year-old hasn't played the best over the last two games. Yet, Browning still has potential against a Browns defense that won't feature Myles Garrett (shoulder, hamstring), who has been a nightmare for offensive lines all year.

Jake Browning Added To Week 18 Injury Report

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning (foot) was added to the Week 18 injury report on Thursday but he was still able to practice in full, so it's most likely nothing to worry about heading into a Week 18 regular season matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have been a shy-away matchup for opposing QBs this year, but they could very well be resting a lot of their starters on both sides of the ball because they are already locked into the No. 5 seed in the AFC for the playoffs. The 27-year-old has impressed at times after taking over for the injured Joe Burrow (wrist), but is coming off a disappointing 197-yard performance with one touchdown in the Week 17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Browning will be looking to bounce back as a QB2 in fantasy, although he's probably going to be without No. 2 receiver Tee Higgins (hamstring).

Jake Browning Can't Lift Team To A Win In Week 17

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning threw for 197 yards and a touchdown off 19-for-33 passing in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. He added 32 yards off seven carries, one of which resulted in an end zone trip. Cincinnati took the lead into the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, the Bengals' efforts weren't enough, as the Chiefs incinerated their playoff hopes. Nevertheless, Browning played better than most had expected after taking over for Joe Burrow (wrist), so the signal-caller should keep his head held high. With one more game left in the 2023-24 campaign, Browning and company will host the Browns in Week 18, a team that could rest most of their starters, meaning there's an opportunity to end the year on a high note.

Jake Browning Aims To Keep Team's Postseason Hopes Alive

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning hopes to keep his team in the playoff conversation by picking up a win over the Chiefs in Week 17. The 27-year-old has had bouts of efficiency this season, especially in his three appearances leading up to the Week 16 AFC North clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although he threw for 335 yards in that one, his third game with at least 300 yards in the last four games, he tossed three picks. Undoubtedly, Browning has proven himself to be a capable signal-caller this season. Unfortunately, there are times when he may not be the best fantasy option, with Sunday's showdown with an adequate Chiefs defense being one of them. Fantasy managers shouldn't trust him versus Kansas City, although he can be utilized in multi-quarterback setups by those who have nowhere else to turn.

Jake Browning Tosses Three Picks Versus Pittsburgh

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning finished Saturday's loss to the Steelers by throwing for 335 yards and a touchdown off 28-for-42 passing. The signal-caller did some things well in Week 16. However, Browning also made some critical mistakes, including tossing three interceptions. In all fairness, the Steelers defense had one of its best games of the 2023-24 campaign. But overall, fantasy managers were hoping for more out of the 27-year-old. Nonetheless, the Bengals will hit the road for a Week 17 meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs. While Browning surely hasn't been a bust since taking over for Joe Burrow (wrist), there may be better choices for those looking for a streaming option.

Jake Browning A Viable Option In Week 16

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning (forearm) was on the injury report ahead of Saturday's AFC North battle with Pittsburgh. However, he logged full sessions, so his availability was never in question. The signal-caller got off to a slow start in the Week 15 meeting with the Vikings. But he got his act together late in the contest to finish with 324 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. More importantly, Cincinnati got the win, remaining in the postseason picture. That said, Browning has been a potent performer of late, tossing for more than 300 yards in two of his last three contests. His accuracy has been another plus for fantasy managers. Nonetheless, Browning is a startable option in all fantasy setups in Week 16, even without Ja'Marr Chase (shoulder) in the lineup.

Jake Browning Throws For Over 300 Yards In Week 15

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning finished with 324 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick off 29-for-42 passing during Saturday's overtime win over the Vikings. The signal-caller got off to a slow start in this one, considering he didn't toss either touchdown until the fourth quarter. But fantasy managers are still pleased with the end result, especially since Browning threw for over 300 yards for the second time in three games. At this rate, the 27-year-old has established himself as a legit NFL quarterback, meaning he deserves recognition for fantasy lineups in the Week 16 AFC North battle with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jake Browning Ready To Go For Week 15

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning (forearm) was listed on the injury report heading into Sunday's meeting with the Minnesota Vikings. However, the forearm ailment wasn't a huge concern, considering the signal-caller practiced in full all week. Without a doubt, Browning has turned into a viable fantasy option over the last few weeks. He threw for 354 yards and a touchdown during the Monday night win over the Jags in Week 13 before amassing 275 yards through the air and two touchdowns in the Week 14 victory over the Colts. The 27-year-old has also established himself as one of the league's most accurate quarterbacks, completing 75.5% of his throws. Nevertheless, while Browning has the most fantasy worth in multi-quarterback setups, he has a place in all lineups for those needing a high-upside starting option, regardless of league size.

Jake Browning Leads Cincinnati To Another Win

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns off 18-for-24 passing in the win over the Colts on Sunday. He did throw an interception. But the signal-caller made up for it by finding the end zone off one of his three carries. Without question, Sunday's performance was one of Browning's best. Unfortunately, Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase weren't involved, with both men combining for only five catches. However, Browning appears to have the Bengals offense clicking, so he deserves consideration against the Vikings in Week 15.

Jake Browning Has Streaming Value In Week 14

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning is entering the Week 14 meeting with the Colts having played the best game of his career. In the Week 13 overtime win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the 27-year-old threw for 354 yards and a touchdown. He also completed 86.5% of his throws and had 22 yards and a score off two carries. Without question, Browning is becoming more comfortable as the Bengals quarterback. With this in mind, he'll make an ideal streaming option for those needing a fantasy signal-caller, especially versus a Colts defense that's struggled throughout the 2023-24 campaign.

Jake Browning Lights-Out In Overtime Thriller

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning may have given us his best Joe Burrow (wrist) impersonation in Monday's unlikely 34-31 road win in overtime over the Jacksonville Jaguars, completing 32-of-37 passes for 354 yards and one touchdown with two carries for 22 yards and a rushing score. Browning orchestrated two first-half touchdown drives before throwing a perfect pass to Ja'Marr Chase in single coverage early in the third quarter for a thrilling 76-yard TD, which was also Cincinnati's longest play from scrimmage of the year. Browning capped off another scoring drive by breaking the plane on a one-yard QB sneak in the fourth period. While expectations need to stay tempered until a greater sample size is established, this was certainly an eye-opening performance. Browning should at least be a viable QB2 option with a fully healthy supporting cast for next Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 14.

Jake Browning Can't Be Trusted On Monday Night

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning got his first start of the season in the Week 12 meeting with the Steelers. Replacing the injured Joe Burrow (wrist), Browning threw for 227 yards, one touchdown, and one interception off 19-for-26 passing. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, as Cincinnati ended up losing for the third straight week. In all fairness, Browning's performance wasn't the worst showing from a fantasy quarterback. Still, the Bengals offense hasn't been consistent all season, making the signal-caller hard to trust, even with a favorable matchup versus the Jaguars on the horizon.

Dec 3, 2023 1:51 AM EST

Jake Browning On The Week 13 Injury Report

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning (wrist) is on the Week 13 injury report with a wrist injury, but he was listed as a full practice participant on Thursday. Browning made his first career start in the Week 12 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week and went 19-for-26 for 227 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He is going to be the Bengals' starting QB the rest of the way in 2023 with Joe Burrow (wrist) out for the rest of the season. The 27-year-old can be serviceable and has plenty of weapons on offense, especially if receiver Tee Higgins (hamstring) returns on Monday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, Browning is a big downgrade from Burrow and should be considered nothing more than a low-end QB2 option for fantasy managers in leagues that start two QBs.

Jake Browning Has A Decent Showing On Sunday

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning went 19-for-26 passing for 227 yards, one touchdown, and one pick in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh. He added nine yards off three carries. The signal-caller is now the team's starter after Joe Burrow (wrist) went down for the year. While he didn't play the best, it wasn't the worst showing, either. The Bengals will next play the Jags on Monday night in Week 13. Hopefully, more practice time will allow Browning to get on the same page with Ja'Marr Chase and the rest of the Bengals offense. But for now, he's not worth considering in any fantasy format.

Jake Browning Looks To Get Bengals On Track In Week 12

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning will start on Sunday against the Steelers. Joe Burrow (wrist) is done for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign, so Browning will do his best to keep Cincinnati in the postseason conversation. The 27-year-old, who won the backup job during the preseason, took over for the ailing Burrow in the Week 11 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on a Thursday night. He didn't play the best, throwing for 68 yards while completing just 57.1% of his attempts. In all fairness, Browning wasn't horrible, however, as he tossed a touchdown and didn't throw any interceptions. Even better, he amassed 40 yards off 10 carries. Nonetheless, Browning is already familiar with the offense, which will certainly benefit him. Additionally, the added days off gave him extra practice time with the starters. But that doesn't mean the signal-caller should be starting in any fantasy lineup on Sunday, although his presence may not be all that bad for Ja'Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd, among others.

Bengals Not Expected To Alter Game Plan For Jake Browning

The Cincinnati Bengals offense is going to be less productive without Joe Burrow (wrist) at quarterback for the rest of the season. However, the Bengals coaching staff believes that Jake Browning, who has been with the team since 2021, can operate all facets of the offense and that it won't have to alter their game-planning or play-calling with Browning now starting under center. Hopefully for fantasy managers that have Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, the drop-off won't be as drastic as you might fear. Running back Joe Mixon, meanwhile, should have more of a workload as the coaching staff looks to take a little pressure off Browning. Heading into a Week 12 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, it sounds as though the Bengals will try to keep everything as normal as possible on offense.

Nov 22, 2023 1:27 PM EST

Jake Browning Looks Decent In Loss

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning was forced to take over under center during Thursday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Starting quarterback Joe Burrow (wrist) went down late in the second quarter. Browning was forced into action for the rest of the night. He completed 8-of-14 passing attempts for 68 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Browning also added 40 rushing yards on four attempts on the ground. Burrow has been diagnosed with a wrist sprain, so there's a decent chance that he sits out in Week 12. Browning didn't look bad under center, but he won't be a viable streaming option for Week 12 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
