The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed exclusive-rights free-agent quarterback Jake Browning to an undisclosed two-year deal on Tuesday on a contract through the 2025 season. Browning got his first real shot in the NFL last year with the Bengals when he was forced to replace Joe Burrow (wrist) after his season-ending injury. In his first nine games (seven starts) played in the NFL, he held his own and kept the Bengals competitive despite not making the playoffs, posting a league-best 70.4 completion percentage, 1,936 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The 28-year-old will return to being the primary backup to Burrow in 2024, so he won't have any real fantasy appeal unless Burrow misses time with another injury.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning may have given us his best Joe Burrow (wrist) impersonation in Monday's unlikely 34-31 road win in overtime over the Jacksonville Jaguars, completing 32-of-37 passes for 354 yards and one touchdown with two carries for 22 yards and a rushing score. Browning orchestrated two first-half touchdown drives before throwing a perfect pass to Ja'Marr Chase in single coverage early in the third quarter for a thrilling 76-yard TD, which was also Cincinnati's longest play from scrimmage of the year. Browning capped off another scoring drive by breaking the plane on a one-yard QB sneak in the fourth period. While expectations need to stay tempered until a greater sample size is established, this was certainly an eye-opening performance. Browning should at least be a viable QB2 option with a fully healthy supporting cast for next Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 14.

The 27-year-old, who won the backup job during the preseason, took over for the ailing Burrow in the Week 11 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on a Thursday night. He didn't play the best, throwing for 68 yards while completing just 57.1% of his attempts. In all fairness, Browning wasn't horrible, however, as he tossed a touchdown and didn't throw any interceptions. Even better, he amassed 40 yards off 10 carries. Nonetheless, Browning is already familiar with the offense, which will certainly benefit him. Additionally, the added days off gave him extra practice time with the starters. But that doesn't mean the signal-caller should be starting in any fantasy lineup on Sunday, although his presence may not be all that bad for Ja'Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd, among others.

The Cincinnati Bengals offense is going to be less productive without Joe Burrow (wrist) at quarterback for the rest of the season. However, the Bengals coaching staff believes that Jake Browning, who has been with the team since 2021, can operate all facets of the offense and that it won't have to alter their game-planning or play-calling with Browning now starting under center. Hopefully for fantasy managers that have Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, the drop-off won't be as drastic as you might fear. Running back Joe Mixon, meanwhile, should have more of a workload as the coaching staff looks to take a little pressure off Browning. Heading into a Week 12 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, it sounds as though the Bengals will try to keep everything as normal as possible on offense.

Burrow has been diagnosed with a wrist sprain, so there's a decent chance that he sits out in Week 12. Browning didn't look bad under center, but he won't be a viable streaming option for Week 12 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
