Fantasy Football Bold Predictions Week 4
The 2024 NFL season is moving right along. Man, it feels like if we blink, we'll be neck-deep into the postseason. NFL teams seem to be trying to find consistent play to start the season. With nearly a quarter of the NFL season heading to the books, several highly-toughed offenses are not doing too well. The Chiefs passing offense, which had high expectations heading into the new season currently sits at 13th overall in passing yards. As far as players go, the tight end position is in shambles. Big-name players like Mark Andrews and Travis Kelce are drastically underperforming. And injuries are picking off whoever is left. Tua Tagovailoa and Christian McCaffrey are big-impact players that affect their teams when they aren't available. The Niners are sitting at 1-2 heading into Week 4 and the Dolphins offense is in neutral without Tua.
I say all that to say making predictions isn't easy and I would love to be right more than wrong. However, the NFL is a cruel mistress this season. But I'm determined to defeat her! So let's get these predictions going in Week 4.
Patrick Surtain Keeps Garrett Wilson Under Wraps And Claims Fourth WR Victim
What defensive back Patrick Surtain has been doing to starting wide receivers this season has been anything short of incredible. Surtain has proven to be a matchup nightmare when facing off against number-one wideouts this year. Surtain has put the clamps on DK Metcalf (29 yards), George Pickens (29 yards), and Mike Evans (17 yards). Now he gets Garrett Wilson, who's already had a hard time getting the ball as opposing defenses have been looking to take him out of the picture. Surtain may add another notch to his belt against the Jets.
Michael Wilson Gets 75 Yards Touchdown Against The Washington Commanders
Cardinals WR Michael Wilson has been one of my favorite sleepers this offseason. This week might be a great chance for Wilson to break out as tight end Trey McBride has been ruled OUT (concussion) for Week 4 against the Washington Commanders. Should that be the case, Wilson could be privy to added targets against a vulnerable Commanders' defense. The Commanders are allowing the second-most passing yards at 255 p/g and allowing 54 FPPG.
Bucs Defense Lands Two More Picks Off Of Jalen Hurts
The Eagles could be in dire straights this week. They could be missing several key players like AJ Brown (hamstring), Devonta Smith (concussion), and Lane Johnson (concussion). Those are some big pieces to miss in a conference game against an opponent that knocked them out of the playoffs last season. Todd Bowles seems to have the Eagles and Jalen Hurts number when it comes to dialing up the blitz, and Hurts has had an injury not turning the ball over to the opposing team. This could be a recipe for disaster as the Bucs could opt to sell out to stop Saquon Barkley and force Jalen Hurts to beat them passing. I'm taking the Bucs to get the W and Hurts to add to his interception total in this game.
Roschon Johnson Rushes For 80 yards And A Touchdown vs. LAR
The Bears running game has been horrible. Straight horrible. Like incredibly bad. "How bad is it?", it's been so bad that D'Andre Swift is averaging 1.8 y/a heading into Week 4. Khalil Herbert hasn't been much better and is playing at a lesser rate than Swift. Roschon Johnson provided a heartbeat to the Bears' run game against the Colts, gathering 62 total yards. With reports lining up Johnson to get an "extended look," we could see Johnson get the opportunity to steal the starting spot. The Rams are allowing 5.1 y/a (fourth-most) to opposing running backs and 21.6 fppg. This could be a big desperation heave for fantasy managers but if you're in a tight spot, you could pick worse options.
Sam Darnold Returns To Form, Folds Against GB in Week 4
Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings have gotten off to a great start. They're 3-0. Darnold is one of the best quarterbacks heading into Week 4 (a sentence I never thought I would say as a writer), and he has Justin Jefferson floating at the top as one of the best wide receivers in fantasy football. But it could come to a head this week against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers currently lead all defenses in interceptions with seven and are sixth in sacks with 11. Admittedly, Darnold heads into the matchup with an 8:2 touchdown touchdown-to-interception ratio, but that could change when facing off against the NFC North division rival Packers.
