Austin Ekeler News
Thursday, April 30, 9:22 AM
Veteran free-agent running back Austin Ekeler (Achilles) is 100% fully medically cleared for all football activities after suffering a torn right Achilles last September against the Green Bay Packers, a league source told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. Ekeler intends to play in 2026 and is expected to draw plenty of interest. The 30-year-old was one of the premier pass-catching backs in the NFL in his seven seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers before he signed a two-year deal with the Washington Commanders before the 2024 season. He appeared in 12 games (six starts) for Washington in 2024, carrying the ball 77 times for 367 yards and four touchdowns while catching 35 passes for 366 receiving yards. Ekeler missed some time due to a concussion that year before playing in just two games in 2025 before tearing his Achilles. Ekeler might not be the same shifty back in space after his season-ending injury, but he could still give a team some solid pass-catching depth out of the backfield as he nears the end of his career.

Zach Charbonnet News
Wednesday, May 27, 6:03 PM
The Seattle Times' Bob Condotta suggests that Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet (knee) might not realistically be able to return in 2026 until midseason after tearing his ACL in the team's Divisional Round win over the division-rival San Francisco 49ers just over four months ago. The 25-year-old will absolutely miss the start of the 2026 regular-season opener, which makes him an obvious candidate to begin the year on the Physically Unable to Perform list, sidelining him for at least the first four games. Seattle let Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III walk in free agency to the Kansas City Chiefs, but they added Emanuel Wilson in free agency and selected former Notre Dame back Jadarian Price in April's rookie draft. With Price a real threat to handle significant touches right away in his first NFL season and because of his serious knee injury, Charbonnet's redraft fantasy stock has taken a big hit. He's currently ranked as RotoBaller's No. 57 RB. Charb proved last year that he was ready to take on a bigger role in Seattle, but he may not get back to that level of production until 2027.
