Caleb Williams News

Caleb Williams Praised for the Strides He's Taken in the Red Zone

Friday, August 28, 7:01 AM

Ahead of Thursday's joint practice with the Titans, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was praised by his head coach for the advancement he's made in the red zone, and he backed those words up with another solid showing and a touchdown connection with Kaden Davis while working against Tennessee's top defense. "I think that's been probably the best thing so far this camp, just the anticipation, the timing, the understanding of where we want to put the football," Ben Johnson told reporters to begin the day. "He is not afraid to fit it into tight windows. He trusts his pass catchers. A year ago, a lot of the things were foreign to him, and now you can tell he has some banked reps and he's able to anticipate where he wants to go with the football." After finishing as the QB5 in a year where he left plenty of fantasy production on the bone, Williams is a candidate to take a significant step forward in his second season in Johnson's offense, and he could prove to be a league-winning value as the seventh quarterback off the board by current ADP.

Cam Ward News

Cam Ward Putting Together a Strong Training Camp

Friday, August 21, 10:23 AM

Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward hasn't been perfect this summer, but Robert Saleh has liked a lot more than he hasn't. Saleh told Terry McCormick that Ward has had practices where he's been "elite," along with a few days he'd probably like back. More often than not, though, Saleh said Ward is "doing a hell of a job" and making good decisions. The swings have shown up over the past week. Ward completed 21 of 25 passes with five touchdowns during arguably his best practice of camp, then went just 5-for-12 for 57 yards in Tennessee's preseason opener, despite leading a 95-yard touchdown drive to start the game. Ward threw for 3,169 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions as a rookie, with another 159 yards and two scores on the ground. There is still plenty of room for him to grow, but Saleh clearly likes the progress Ward is making heading into his second season.
