Darren Waller in "Tremendous Shape"

Monday, July 28, 6:11 PM

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said on Monday that tight end Darren Waller is in "tremendous shape," but the team isn't allowing that to "trick us into thinking he's in football shape." Waller was "very active" with tight ends coach Jon Embree on Monday, according to ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques. The 32-year-old isn't dealing with any type of injury, but the Dolphins placed him on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list to start training camp after he retired and sat out all of the 2024 campaign. Waller is back now and should serve as the team's top pass-catching TE after they traded Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers. There's no guarantee that he'll be anything near the type of receiver he was in his peak seasons with the Raiders, but given the shallow fantasy position of TE, Waller is at least worthy of a TE2 dart throw.

Dolphins Hosting Noah Fant on a Visit

Monday, July 28, 12:31 PM

The Miami Dolphins are hosting free-agent tight end Noah Fant on a visit on Monday, sources told FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Fant is making the rounds after being released by the Seattle Seahawks at the start of training camp, as he's already visited with the Cincinnati Bengals and New Orleans Saints. He continues to draw significant interest on the open market and should join a new team soon. The Dolphins recently traded Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers and signed Darren Waller after he came out of retirement, but they would certainly like to have more depth behind Waller for the 2025 season. Wherever Fant winds up, he's not going to be immediately plugged in as the no-doubt, top pass-catching option at the position, so he will go undrafted in the vast majority of fantasy leagues. The 27-year-old former first-rounder didn't crack 500 yards in any of his three seasons in Seattle.
