David Montgomery Finds End Zone in Week 2, Set for RB2 Workload in Detroit?

Monday, September 15, 11:17 PM

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries in his team's 52-21 Week 2 win over the Chicago Bears. Since joining the Lions, Montgomery has been one of the NFL's most consistent red-zone backs. The 28-year-old has not gone consecutive games within a season without scoring a touchdown since December 2023. On a less positive note for fantasy managers, Montgomery appears set for a secondary role behind Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit this season. Although Gibbs only earned one more carry than Montgomery in Week 2, Montgomery was on the field for 10 fewer snaps. The veteran has also recorded seven fewer touches than his backfield mate through the first two games of the season. Montgomery remains a consistent flex option in fantasy, but he'll likely be reliant on finding the end zone again to produce in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Marvin Harrison Jr. Needs to be More Involved for Cardinals Offense

Monday, September 15, 7:11 PM

While Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said he's not concerned about the amount of targets that second-year wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. gets, he knows that his being involved is what is best for the offense. "I know he's got to touch the football for our offense to play at its premium," Gannon said. Harrison had five catches on six targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in the Week 1 win over the New Orleans Saints, but he caught only two of five targets for 27 yards in the Week 2 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The Cardinals got out to a big early lead and took their foot off the gas pedal in an eventual 27-22 win, so Harrison wasn't really needed. Harrison and quarterback Kyler Murray reportedly worked on their chemistry this offseason, but it hasn't looked great through two games. Fantasy managers will be expecting a bounce-back game in Week 3 against the division-rival San Francisco 49ers.
