David Njoku News

David Njoku Helping to Unlock Chargers Offense

Monday, August 3, 6:49 AM

The Los Angeles Chargers' new-look offense is thriving in the early days of training camp, and one of the reasons, as pointed out by Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, is the addition of tight end David Njoku and the improvements made to the position as a whole. Veteran Charlie Kolar was an early free agent signing, and as expected, he has been used primarily as an inline blocking tight end throughout the early days of training camp. With Njoku signing later in the process, there were questions about how his usage would impact second-year player Oronde Gadsden II, and Breer mentions that the former first-round pick of the Browns was brought in to play the F or "move" tight end position. A split between Njoku and Gadsden in that role could make both difficult to consistently trust for fantasy production, making any information coming out of camp all the more important. While that situation has pushed the veteran down to TE24 by current ADP, Gadsden is going around TE18, still in a range where some of the other available options appear to provide more certainty but a lower ceiling.

Elijah Arroyo News

Elijah Arroyo Rising in New Seahawks Offense

Sunday, August 2, 9:07 AM

Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo (knee) is gaining momentum in new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury's offense. Gregg Bell of The News Tribune reports that Arroyo is rising in a scheme that is creating more downfield opportunities for the team's tight ends. The 2025 second-round pick had a modest rookie season, catching 15 passes for 179 yards and one touchdown in 13 games, but his athleticism makes him an intriguing receiving option. Arroyo missed the final four games of the regular season with a knee injury before returning for Seattle's Super Bowl LX victory. AJ Barner remains the top tight end after posting 52 catches for 519 yards and six touchdowns last year, so Arroyo may not see enough volume to become a reliable weekly fantasy starter. Fleury previously served as San Francisco's run game coordinator and tight ends coach, and Seattle is expected to continue using multiple-tight-end looks. Arroyo is a name to watch in deeper leagues if this momentum continues and he earns a larger role in the passing game.
