Eagles Think DeVonta Smith Could be an Elite WR1

Tuesday, April 14, 9:37 AM

Some in the Philadelphia Eagles' organization think that if wide receiver A.J. Brown were no longer on the team, that DeVonta Smith "can have a similar jump in production" that Jaxon Smith-Njigba had in Seattle with the Seahawks when DK Metcalf was traded, according to Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice. Kempski also adds that if Brown is traded, Smith will "immediately become the focal point of the passing offense." He has topped 1,000 yards in three of his four NFL seasons while also catching the "dagger" in the team's second franchise Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. "He is wired for this opportunity," Kempski believes. In addition to his Super Bowl ring, Smith won the Heisman Trophy in college and two national championships with Alabama. The 27-year-old former 10th overall pick in 2021 had 77 catches for 1,008 yards and four touchdowns in 17 regular-season games in 2025, with Kempski saying he was "pretty clearly" a better player than Brown. All signs are pointing to Brown getting traded after June 1, which would give Smith a huge fantasy boost heading into next season.

DeMario Douglas News

DeMario Douglas in Limited Role Heading into Contract Year

Thursday, February 19, 5:04 PM

New England Patriots wide receiver DeMario Douglas had a disappointing third year in the NFL, even though his team advanced all the way to the Super Bowl. The 25-year-old pass-catcher had career lows in catches (31), targets (46), and receiving yards (447) while scoring just three touchdowns for the second straight season in 17 regular-season games. Quarterback Drake Maye was in the running for MVP honors in his second season, but Douglas just couldn't stand out in a crowded receiving corps that also included Stefon Diggs, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, and rookie Kyle Williams. His 447 receiving yards were fifth on the team, and he added seven carries for 21 yards on the ground. Douglas will be in a contract year in 2026, but with all of the above-mentioned receivers returning to New England, it's hard to envision Douglas becoming a strong weekly fantasy football option.
