DJ Giddens News

DJ Giddens' Preseason Touchdown Possibly Not Enough to Win Backup Job

Saturday, August 29, 5:15 PM

Indianapolis Colts running back DJ Giddens had two carries, eight rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown during Saturday's preseason contest against the Detroit Lions. He also tallied an eight-yard reception. It was a rewarding game for the second-year back, as the entire bench cleared out and celebrated with Giddens after he scored the first touchdown of his career. However, it may not have been enough to solidify him as the No. 2 running back behind Jonathan Taylor. His primary competition for the backup role is rookie Seth McGowan, who ended up tallying 25 scrimmage yards in the loss, bringing his preseason total to 74 yards. If Giddens somehow opens the regular season as the No. 2 back, he can be stashed in deeper fantasy leagues as a handcuff for Taylor. However, if he drops to third on the depth chart, he will become droppable in almost all leagues.

Nicholas Singleton News

Nicholas Singleton Ends Preseason Without Any Signature Moments

Sunday, August 30, 6:36 AM

Tennessee Titans rookie running back Nicholas Singleton ran the ball seven times for 26 yards in Saturday's 24-15 loss to the Chicago Bears, adding two receptions for 18 yards and putting a cap on a solid but unspectacular first preseason. Both Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears have looked sharp in their limited action, each averaging more than 5.6 yards per carry on 12 combined totes, but with neither suited up for the final game of the 2026 preseason, Singleton got the start and earned a target on an opening drive that went three-and-out. Singleton was selected in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, but with many believing he would have gone earlier if not for a broken foot sustained during Senior Bowl practice, he was a popular sleeper pick to start the summer. After running firmly behind Pollard and Spears for most of camp, the veterans appear to have a lock on any fantasy viability to be found out of the Titans' running backs room, and at RotoBaller's RB75, Singleton is not a player who needs to be considered in 2026 drafts.
