Gabe Davis Opening 2025 on Practice Squad Injured List

Friday, September 5, 1:49 PM

The Buffalo Bills reunited with veteran wide receiver Gabe Davis (knee) earlier this week, but he'll open the season on the practice squad injured list. Davis is still on the mend from a torn left meniscus he suffered last season as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now 26 years old, Davis spent 2020-23 with the Bills, averaging approximately 41 catches, 683 yards, and seven touchdowns per season during that run. He parlayed his Buffalo production into a three-year, $39 million deal with the Jaguars in free agency, but they released him after he fell flat in 2024. Davis caught just 20 of 42 targets for 239 yards and two scores in 10 games with the Jags before the meniscus injury ended his season in mid-November. The Bills are starting this season with Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer, Elijah Moore, Curtis Samuel, and Tyrell Shavers as their receivers. It's conceivable that Davis could replace someone from the back end of that group once he recovers.

Jaylin Lane Has Sneaky Flex Value in Week 7 Against Dallas

Friday, October 17, 10:54 PM

With Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) ruled out for his fourth consecutive game and Deebo Samuel Sr.'s status up in the air, Washington Commanders rookie wide receiver Jaylin Lane could be in line for increased opportunities in Week 7 against Dallas. The rookie caught one of two targets for 37 yards in Week 6 against Chicago, beating Bears' cornerback Tyrique Stevenson on a beautiful double move for an explosive gain down the sideline. He was schemed up on an end-around last week as well, which went for seven yards. Lane has the speed to beat corners vertically and the dynamic ability to make plays with the ball in his hands on designed touches. The fourth-rounder out of Virginia Tech had only a 34.3% route share in Week 6, but that should be expected to tick up in Week 7. If Samuel is out, Lane will have plenty of opportunities to make plays against a Dallas defense that is allowing the most PPR points per game to opposing wide receivers. There's some flex appeal for Lane in Week 7.
