Jahmyr Gibbs Records Career-Worst 28 Scrimmage Yards in Week 9 Loss

Monday, November 3, 1:06 PM

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs had one of his worst games as a pro in his team's 27-24 Week 9 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Gibbs was held to 28 scrimmage yards on 12 touches and did not score a touchdown. The 23-year-old has mostly been a fantasy weapon so far this season, recording 748 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns on 142 touches across eight games played. However, there are a couple of worrying signs for Gibbs. He's currently averaging 4.9 yards per carry and 5.3 yards per touch, both of which would be career lows if they were to sustain for the remainder of the season. Additionally, the Lions lost starting left guard Christian Mahogany (knee) to a significant knee injury in Week 9, which could be a major issue for the team's run blocking. Still, Gibbs remains a must-start fantasy running back heading into a Week 10 matchup against the Washington Commanders.

Jordan Addison A Playable Option As Vikings Take On Lions

Friday, October 31, 4:48 PM

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison remains a quality WR3/flex option when his team takes on the Detroit Lions in a Week 9 meeting of NFC North foes. It remains to be seen how the USC product meshes with starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy, with whom Addison has never appeared in a regular-season game. McCarthy has played in just two games since the start of 2024, and Addison was suspended for both of them. Addison has a decent matchup against a Lions team that has surrendered 14 passing touchdowns in seven games, which is one of the worst marks in the league, but Minnesota has had major issues protecting the quarterback. The Vikings rank 31st in sack rate and managed a miserable 47 plays last week in a loss to the L.A. Chargers, though Addison accounted for the team's only touchdown. Addison has shown steady fantasy appeal this season, giving managers reason to believe he can perform even in the midst of the Vikings' struggles.
