Keenan Allen News

Keenan Allen Set for Preseason Finale Reps

Thursday, August 27, 9:07 AM

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen will play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Detroit Lions, according to Stephen Holder. Head coach Shane Steichen said Allen wants to get on the field after signing with Indianapolis on Aug. 19. The 34-year-old did not play against Atlanta last week, when the Colts rested most of their starters. Allen spent the 2025 season back with the Chargers and caught 81 passes for 777 yards and four touchdowns across 17 games. He is still getting settled into a Colts offense that also features Josh Downs and tight end Tyler Warren, so even a brief appearance gives him some live work before Week 1. Steichen had previously said most starters would play around eight to 12 plays in the finale, although he did not give Allen a specific workload Thursday. Allen's fantasy role still needs some sorting out, but his willingness to play after joining the team so late in camp is a positive sign.

Sterling Shepard News

Texans Sign Veteran Wideouts Sterling Shepard and Zay Jones

Friday, August 21, 1:02 PM

The Houston Texans signed veteran wideouts Sterling Shepard and Zay Jones on Friday, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. The team was in the market for wide receiver help following the season-ending injury to second-year wideout Jayden Higgins (knee), who was placed on Injured Reserve on Friday due to a torn ACL. Outside of star wide receiver Nico Collins, Houston's pass-catching group now has significant questions due to Higgins' injury and Tank Dell's (knee) uncertain injury situation as he works his way back from a serious knee injury of his own. Shepard appeared in 13 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2025, recording 39 catches for 371 yards and one touchdown. Jones (Achilles) hauled in 12 catches across eight games with the Arizona Cardinals and is working his way back from a torn Achilles. While neither player profiles as a particularly inspiring option for fantasy managers, both are still worth keeping an eye on in deeper leagues given the clear opportunity available in Houston.
