Kyle Pitts Held Without a Catch in Disappointing Week 1

Sunday, September 13, 1:46 PM

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts was unable to haul in his lone target during Sunday's Week 1 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This was an incredibly frustrating outing for Pitts, who was looking to build on last year's career-best TE2 finish in PPR leagues. Some of his struggles can be attributed to poor quarterback play, as the Falcons opened the season with third-string quarterback Cooper Rush under center. Rush finished the season opener with just 12 completions, two interceptions, and four sacks, making life difficult for the Falcons' receivers. There's a good chance that Atlanta will have either Michael Penix Jr. (knee) or Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) back next week, which bodes well for Pitts' fantasy outlook going forward. For the time being, managers can chalk this one up to quarterback struggles, with the expectation that he'll return to his mid-to-low TE1 form soon.

Zay Flowers News

Zay Flowers Not Practicing on Wednesday

Wednesday, September 16, 9:26 AM

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers (hamstring) is not practicing on Wednesday after leaving Sunday's win over the Colts with a hamstring injury. Flowers caught five passes for a career-high 150 yards and a touchdown in the first half of a dominant outing, but unfortunately one half was all he could muster, exiting early after missing time late in training camp with an injured hamstring. There is now a realistic possibility that he could miss time, and his absence from the first practice of the week, although expected, is not an encouraging sign for his Week 2 availability against the Saints. While soft-tissue injuries tend to linger and can often lead to reduced workloads and difficult start/sit decisions, Flowers' explosive potential in offensive coordinator Declan Doyle's aggressive downfield passing game makes him a must-start as soon as he is cleared to play again.
