Rams, Kyren Williams Agree to Three-Year Extension

Tuesday, August 5, 12:05 PM

The Los Angeles Rams and running back Kyren Williams agreed to a three-year, $33 million extension on Tuesday, including $23 million in guarantees, according to agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus. Williams gets rewarded with a new deal after topping 1,000 yards rushing in each of the last two seasons with the rams. Last year in 16 regular-season starts, the 24-year-old had a career-high 316 carries for 1,299 rushing yards and a career-best 14 rushing touchdowns, adding a career-high 34 receptions on 40 targets for another 182 yards and two scores. The numbers were great for fantasy purposes, but Williams wasn't as efficient as his Pro Bowl season in 2023, and second-year RB Blake Corum could see more involvement in 2025. It will be hard for Williams to ever be as efficient as he was in 2023 if Corum becomes more involved. He's on the RB1/2 borderline in RotoBaller's rankings.

Julius Chestnut, Kalel Mullings Competing for RB3 Role

Sunday, July 13, 11:52 AM

TennnesseeTitans.com's Jim Wyatt points to a battle to watch during training camp being the one between Tennessee Titans running backs Julius Chestnut and rookie Kalel Mullings for the No. 3 role behind Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears. Mullings missed time during the offseason program with an abdominal injury but took part in minicamp and is expected to be a full-go for training camp as he looks to beat out Chestnut. But Chestnut, who played in all 17 games in 2024, won't go down without a fight after having a solid offseason. The 24-year-old had 22 carries for 102 yards while adding two receptions for 11 yards in a depth role in 2024. Wyatt thinks that the Titans will keep three RBs on the active roster this year and one on the practice squad. Chestnut's leg up over Mullings could come on special teams, but Mullings will also work on special teams as he hunts for a roster spot.
