Tommy DeVito Becomes QB2 in New England

Monday, March 23, 1:02 PM

The New England Patriots released veteran quarterback Joshua Dobbs on Monday, pushing Tommy DeVito to the backup role behind starter Drake Maye, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN. The Patriots initially didn't tender an offer to DeVito, but they eventually re-signed him to a two-year deal with a base value of $4.4 million. The deal includes incentives that could increase the value of the deal to $7.4 million. Reiss adds that a No. 3 QB is expected to be added later in the offseason, potentially via the NFL draft in April. DeVito, who went undrafted out of Illinois, made his NFL debut in 2023 with the New York Giants and ended up playing in nine games (six starts), completing 64% of his passes for 1,101 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions. The 27-year-old did not appear in a game at all in 2025 while serving as the No. 3 behind Maye and Dobbs. If DeVito is making starts for the Pats in 2026, it will be bad news for the entire offense.

Drew Allar News

Drew Allar Flashes Arm Talent at Steelers Camp

Sunday, August 2, 9:19 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Drew Allar has made a few eye-catching throws early in his first training camp. Rookie Watch reports that the third-round pick has drawn attention with his arm strength, and Allar connected on two deep balls during Saturday's practice, including a roughly 40-yard throw in a two-minute drill. The early returns have not been perfect, though, as he also missed some easier throws during the session. Pittsburgh selected Allar 76th overall after he threw for 7,402 yards and 61 touchdowns in 45 games at Penn State. His final college season ended early because of an ankle injury. Aaron Rodgers remains the clear starter, with Mason Rudolph and Will Howard also in the quarterback room, so Allar is unlikely to have any value in ordinary redraft leagues this season. His arm talent and opportunity to develop behind Rodgers still make him an interesting player to monitor in dynasty and Superflex formats.
