Tyler Allgeier a Low-End Flex Against Tough Minnesota Run Defense

Saturday, September 13, 12:25 PM

Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier earned double-digit touches in Week 1, although against a stout Tampa run defense, he was unable to convert them into much production, logging just 24 yards on 10 totes. The 25-year-old back was a non-factor in the passing game, not even drawing a single target compared to Bijan Robinson's seven targets. Allgeier tallied 10 or more carries just five times in 17 games last year, so this likely won't be a regular occurrence, however, the product out of BYU did have a solid game against Minnesota last year, which is who he'll face on Sunday night. The 5-foot-10 back ran nine times for 63 yards and a score in this matchup last year, so he's got a chance to produce again, but the Vikings allowed just 53 yards to running backs last week (QB Caleb Williams ran for 58) and allowed the second-fewest rush yards per game in '24, leaving Allgeier as nothing more than an RB4 or low-end Flex play in Week 2.

Bijan Robinson a High-Floor RB1 Despite Tough Matchup

Friday, September 12, 11:24 PM

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson ran into a wall in Week 1 versus the Buccaneers, gaining just 24 yards on 12 attempts. However, he salvaged his day in the passing game, garnering seven targets and catching six of them for 100 yards receiving, which included a 50-yard touchdown scamper. The 23-year-old could have a tough go of it on the ground again in Week 2 on the road in Minnesota against a stout Vikings run defense that allowed just 53 yards rushing to running backs in Week 1, and allowed the second-fewest rush yards per game in 2024. Robinson did gain 92 yards against the Vikings in their 2024 matchup, but it took him 22 carries to get there. Averaging more than four targets per game a year ago and with a healthy dose of targets in Week 1, expect the former first-round draft pick to be heavily involved in both phases again, and with his ability to find the end zone, he shapes up as a top-five option at the position in Week 2.
