Drafting from the 4th Spot in a PPR League
You got the fourth spot in your PPR League, and you have a few different directions you can take to beat your friends. Doing a fantasy football mock draft is essential to see all the possible players who might help your team. In the past, running backs have dominated the first round. Yet, that is not the case this season, as there are about four running backs who may go in the first round while star wide receivers take the other spots. We're here to show you how to draft your first pick and the nine picks after that to help you win your PPR League.
Rounds 1 and 2
CeeDee Lamb is currently fourth in our average draft position rankings and the best value you can get at the fourth pick. Let's look at what he did last season. Lamb only went off for 135 receptions and 1,743 yards with 12 touchdowns while also rushing 14 times for 113 yards and two scores. Now, he is playing for a contract extension and will have even more motivation to beat his career marks, especially in what might be his last season with Dak Prescott.
If someone takes Lamb before your fourth pick, and Amon-Ra St. Brown or Tyreek Hill is available, either would work. Personally, I would take St. Brown because he is younger and offers more upside, especially after catching 119 passes for 1,515 yards with 10 touchdowns last season.
When you get to the second round, you want to nab a running back so you don't lose out on all the best talent. Therefore, Isiah Pacheco, Devin Achane, or Josh Jacobs would suffice. Pacheco rushed 205 times for 935 yards and seven touchdowns while catching 44 passes for 244 yards and two scores. Ultimately, the potential is there for Pacheco to get over 1,000 yards and reach 10 touchdowns.
Achane rushed 103 times for 800 yards and eight touchdowns while catching 27 passes for 197 yards and one score despite missing six games. Thus, there is so much potential for Achane to go off, even with Raheem Mostert present in the Miami Dolphins' backfield. Jacobs rushed 233 times for 805 yards and six touchdowns while also catching 37 passes for 296 yards. Now, he gets a chance to play for the Green Bay Packers and Jordan Love. Any of these three would be great for your PPR League.
Rounds 3 and 4 of Your PPR League
Your third-round pick is also incredibly important to sustain any success in your PPR League, and it's crucial when you have the 28th pick. That's why someone like Sam LaPorta would be perfect for your team. It now gives your team an elite tight end to go with your wide receiver and running back. Significantly, LaPorta went off in his rookie season, catching 86 passes for 886 yards and 10 touchdowns.
If LaPorta is not available, James Cook would be a good choice. Remarkably, he rushed 237 times for 1,122 yards and two touchdowns and also caught 44 passes for 445 yards and four scores. With the Bills losing Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, there will be more chances for targets and usage in this offense.
The only bad part about having the fourth pick in the draft is having a late fourth-round pick. That's okay. You can still find great value in selecting Michael Pittman Jr. or DJ Moore as the 45th pick of the draft. Pittman caught 109 passes for 1,152 yards and four touchdowns despite not having consistent quarterback play. Meanwhile, Moore caught 96 passes for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns, even with inconsistent play from Justin Fields.
Pittman gets Anthony Richardson back, and Moore will catch passes from Caleb Williams. Thus, the sky is the limit for either of these receivers to put up some career numbers.
Rounds 5 and 6 of Your PPR League
You have two great receivers, a tight end, and a running back. Now, you need another running back. This is where someone like David Montgomery comes in. Yes, Jahmyr Gibbs will likely have more of a role in the offense. But Montgomery still rushed 219 times for 1,015 yards and 13 touchdowns. Even if he only gets 900 yards and 10 scores this season, it still will be a great value for you.
If you want a quarterback in the sixth round, go with Dak Prescott, who is playing for a contract, or Jordan Love. If you don't, you can fill out a flex by selecting Zamir White, who will be the top option in the Las Vegas Raiders' backfield. White rushed 104 times for 451 yards and one touchdown while averaging 4.3 yards per carry in limited action.
Rounds 7 and 8 of Your PPR League
If you have already chosen a quarterback in the sixth round, then Calvin Ridley or Zack Moss would be good selections here to fill out your flex spot. Ridley led the Jacksonville Jaguars with 76 receptions for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns. Now, he joins the Tennessee Titans and will catch passes from Will Levis.
Zack Moss rushed 183 times for 794 yards and five touchdowns while partially filling in for Jonathan Taylor on the Indianapolis Colts last season. Significantly, he gets a better offense now as he has joined the Cincinnati Bengals, and his potential for greatness is off the charts. If you have not chosen a quarterback, Love and Prescott could both conceivably still be there to choose as your quarterback.
When you reach the eighth round, and you still need a quarterback, Kyler Murray or Brock Purdy could provide good value. Murray has struggled with injuries over the last two seasons. But he passed for 3,787 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions and also rushed 88 times for 423 yards and five scores in his last healthy season in 2021. Meanwhile, Purdy set the league on fire last season, tossing 4,280 yards with 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Purdy would be a wonderful value for you, especially this late in the draft.
Later Rounds
Gus Edwards would be a great option for you in the ninth round. Ultimately, he comes to the Los Angeles Chargers from the Baltimore Ravens and will play for Jim Harbaugh, who loves running the ball. If you want a good backup tight end, then go with Brock Bowers or T.J. Hockenson in the 1oth round. The reason why Hockenson will even be available this late is because he tore his ACL after catching 95 passes for 960 yards and five touchdowns. Therefore, he might not be available until November at the earliest. On the other hand, Bowers is the new first-round draft pick the Raiders selected to pair with tight end Michael Mayer.
Recap
You can succeed in your PPR League whether you have the fourth pick or the seventh pick in your draft. What matters in the end is ensuring you get a good, balanced team with players who are ready to thrive on a weekly basis. But don't forget to always monitor injury status and any players who go on a hot streak. Doing these things will ensure that you win your PPR League.
