Thursday Night Football: Bills at Dolphins

Last week was very good for us, especially if you avoided Travis Kelce at the top. Lamar Jackson and Xavier Worthy paid off as captain options. We also had Isaiah Likely and Justice Hill, who provided value down the board as FLEX plays.

This week, we get an AFC East matchup as the Bills head south to face the Dolphins. It’s expected to be a high-scoring affair, as this game has the second-highest over/under on this week’s slate.

The Dolphins’ backfield is the only spot we need to look at regarding injuries. Raheem Mostert has already been ruled out with a chest injury. De’Von Achane, on the other hand, is questionable with an ankle injury. He was limited on Wednesday and looks to be a game-time decision. If Achane is able to suit up, he will not be making his way into any of my lineups at that price.

When it comes to building a showdown lineup, it’s important to make sure that it correlates. If your captain is a wide receiver, you want his quarterback as one of your FLEX players. Same goes for if you have a quarterback as your captain. In this case, you’re going to want 2-3 pass catchers to go along with the quarterback.

In this article, I will rank the players according to how much exposure I’m going to have. Each game will feature 2-3 options at captain, which are high-priority plays, followed by flex options to round it out.

Captain

WR Tyreek Hill ($17,400) The most expensive player on the slate and rightfully so. After everything that happened with Hill pre-game last week, he’ll again be playing with a chip on his shoulder. With some value further down the board this week, making this price tag work is very possible. If you want more balance, Hill is an elite FLEX play. Expect him to be one

TE Dalton Kincaid ($10,800) He let fantasy managers down last week, catching just one of his two targets for 11 yards. On a positive note, Kincaid played over 83% of the Bills’ offensive snaps and ran the second most routes (25) behind just Keon Coleman. At just $10,800 in your captain spot, it allows you to work some higher priced players into your lineup. Don’t give up on him just yet.

FLEX

QB Josh Allen ($11,000) The QB1 in ADP remains the QB1 through the first week. Josh Allen was the only QB to score over 30 DraftKings points thanks to his pair of rushing touchdowns. With the Bills heading into the game as the underdog, we should expect Allen to have a busy night. He should be in your showdown lineup no matter what. If you can make it happen, he’s also worth a look as captain.

WR Mack Hollins ($1,600) While it’s just one week, Mack Hollins did have the second most snaps amongst all Bills’ wide receivers (58%). This trend may not continue, but it looks Hollins could be more involved than Curtis Samuel. Hollins found his way into the endzone on one of his two receptions. He rates out as the best value on FantasyData’s projections, and should be a popular play for just $1,600.

RB Jeff Wilson Jr. ($2,400) This brings us to the second best value of the night in Jeff Wilson Jr. Even if Achane is able to suit up, Wilson should still be involved. Last week, he saw five carries for 26 yards and seems to be ahead of Jaylin Wright for the time being. If Achane happens to be inactive tonight, rostering both Wilson and Wright is in play.

WR Khalil Shakir ($6,200) Shakir didn’t see as many snaps as we would have liked last week. He was the Bills’ primary slot receiver, which should pay off moving forward. Even though Coleman had the most snaps and routes last week, Shakir seems to be a safer bet for the long-term. If you’re short on salary, Coleman is a fine alternative.

K Jason Sanders ($4,400) Since we’re a little heavier on the Bills, let's roll with Jason Sanders. He’s $400 cheaper than Tyler Bass, and if we have a Bills-heavy build, we don’t want Bass kicking anyways. DraftKings Sportsbook actually favors Sanders to make more field goals than Bass anyways.
