TNF DraftKings DFS Showdown: Broncos vs Saints
This is the first time since NFL Week one that we haven’t had a divisional matchup for the Thursday Night Football game.
Two rookie quarterbacks will square off in a game with the lowest projected point total (37) for Week 7. In a game like this, you’ll want to differentiate your lineups and leave some more salary on the table than normal. You don’t have to build like the game won’t have any scoring, but it’s something to keep in mind.
When it comes to building a showdown lineup, it’s important to make sure that it correlates. If your captain is a wide receiver, you want his quarterback as one of your FLEX players. Same goes for if you have a quarterback as your captain. In this case, you’re going to want 2-3 pass catchers to go along with the quarterback.
In this article, I will be putting the players in order of how much exposure I’m going to have. Each game will feature 2-3 options at captain, which are high-priority plays, followed by flex options to round it out.
Captain
RB Alvin Kamara ($17,700) Kamara is going to be the most popular captain and rightfully so. This slate lacks star power at the skill positions, so it’s hard to really consider anyone else up here. Kamara is quite literally all the Saints have on offense this week with Olave and Shaheed out.
QB Bo Nix ($14,100) This really boils down to Courtland Sutton being extremely overpriced. Nix has shown the ability to rack up fantasy points with his legs. He’s fresh off of a career-high 61 rushing yards and has already scored three touchdowns on the ground this season. Don’t feel the need to pair him with more than one other Broncos’ pass-catcher.
FLEX
DST Broncos ($4,800) If I’m picking between the two defenses in this one, it’s the Broncos. They will take on Spencer Rattler in his second career start. He completed just 55% of his passes last week including two interceptions. The Broncos have had three or more sacks in four straight games and have four interceptions in that time. With such a low scoring game, a defense seems mandatory.
RB Javonte Williams ($8,800) Williams has seen his snap share increase in each of the past four weeks. This game script sets up well for him, especially if the Broncos get the lead early.
WR Bub Means ($4,000) Who would have thought that Bub Means would be the WR1 for the Saints heading into Week 7? He played 71% of the offensive snaps last week in Olave’s absence. Means led the team in receptions with five and caught Rattlers' lone touchdown pass. He’s worth a look at $4,000 just based off of the volume he’s going to see.
WR Devaughn Vele ($4,400) Another rookie wide receiver who has forced his way onto the field. Vele has only appeared in two games this season and is averaging the second-most targets per game (7) on the Broncos. He led the team in yards this past week with 78 and tied Sutton with four receptions. Sutton is the clear WR1, but I just can’t get there with the price this week.
K Blake Grupe ($5,000) He’s a perfect 10/10 on the season. Let’s hope the Saints offense can at least get him a few opportunities.
K Wil Lutz ($5,400) Doubling up on kickers isn’t the worst idea in this one. It doesn’t make that much of a difference which one you go with if you’re trying to decide between the two.
