Jets Have Made Allen Lazard Available In Trade Talks

The New York Jets have made wide receiver Allen Lazard available in trade talks this offseason, according to league sources. Lazard is due a $10 million salary this season, so he's not likely to generate a ton of interest from other clubs after catching 23 of his 49 targets for 311 yards and one touchdown in 14 games (12 starts) for the Jets in 2023. The 28-year-old former Green Bay Packer came over before last season as a favorite of quarterback Aaron Rodgers from their time together in Green Bay, but Lazard didn't have much of a chance to excel once Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1. Perhaps Lazard could rebound with Rodgers returning this year if he sticks around, but it sounds like the Jets would rather just move on. If there are no takers for Lazard, the Jets could end up cutting him after June 1.

Allen Lazard A Healthy Scratch Again

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard will fittingly end his first year with the team in the Week 18 regular season finale against the New England Patriots as a healthy scratch on Sunday. He was a full participant all week despite dealing with an illness and was removed from the final injury report on Friday, but he won't be active on Sunday. It is his second healthy scratch of the season and he'll finish with only 23 receptions for 311 yards and one touchdown in 14 games for the Jets. The 28-year-old former Green Bay Packer was brought in to serve as a reliable target for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but that went out the window when Rodgers was lost for the year in Week 1 with a torn Achilles. With Lazard out on Sunday, Jason Brownlee and Xavier Gipson should continue to get more opportunities in the passing game behind No. 1 Garrett Wilson.

Allen Lazard Fully Practices On Wednesday

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard (illness) was a full participant in Wednesday's team practice. Lazard missed last week's game against the Cleveland Browns with an illness. But he appears to be past it as he enters Week 18 against the New England Patriots fully healthy. The 28-year-old has had a rough first season with the Jets, catching just 23 passes for 311 yards and one touchdown. He also has only caught one pass since Week 11. With that in mind, Lazard should not be on anyone's fantasy radar this weekend in both season-long leagues and DFS contests.

Allen Lazard Questionable With An Illness

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard (illness) is officially listed as questionable for his team's Week 17 matchup against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. Lazard practiced fully on Monday and Tuesday but he apparently was feeling under the weather on Wednesday, forcing him to miss practice and earn a questionable tag heading into Week 17. If Lazard doesn't play against the Browns, look for Xavier Gipson and Jason Brownlee to both see extra opportunities.

Allen Lazard Will Be Active This Sunday

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that wide receiver Allen Lazard will be active on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13 after he was a healthy scratch in last Friday's loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Jets sent a message to the struggling 27-year-old by benching him last week. After signing a $44 million deal with the Jets in the offseason, Lazard has been hurt by drops and penalties in his first year with the team. He currently has 20 receptions on 41 targets for 290 yards and one touchdown in 10 starts. Lazard will be active against the Falcons this weekend, but he could see fewer snaps and isn't a recommended flex option, even in deeper fantasy leagues. Garrett Wilson remains the only fantasy wideout in New York worth trusting in lineups.

Allen Lazard Will Get Another Chance

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard, who has struggled in his first year with the team after signing a four-year, $44 million deal in March, was a healthy scratch for the Week 12 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Friday. Lazard also received $22 million over the first two years of his deal, the largest guarantee for any free agent receiver in the 2023 offseason. He had just 20 catches for 290 yards and a touchdown while struggling with drops (three) in the first 10 games. Saleh said the benching was "kind of a challenge to see if he can recapture the edge and who he is and the person that we have a lot of faith in. He's a good football player. I do believe that. For Allen, he will be back sooner rather than later." In Lazard's absence on Friday, young wideouts Xavier Gipson, Jason Brownlee and Irv Charles combined for four catches for 35 yards.

Allen Lazard Won't Play On Friday

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard will be inactive for the Week 12 game against the Miami Dolphins on Friday, according to sources. Lazard, who signed a $44 million deal in the offseason, dropped his seventh pass of the year last week and has just 20 receptions for 290 yards and one touchdown in 10 games in his first year with the Jets. Garrett Wilson remains the No. 1 wideout for the Jets as the team transitions from quarterback Zach Wilson to Tim Boyle this week. With Lazard out at least temporarily, rookie Xavier Gipson should have a bigger role while veteran Randall Cobb should be active and potentially get involved against Miami. Tight end Tyler Conklin should become slightly more attractive as a TE2 streamer as well.

Allen Lazard Held Without A Catch Against Buffalo

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard did not secure his lone target against Buffalo, giving fantasy managers a goose egg in the team's 32-6 blowout loss. The output wasn't entirely Lazard's fault. Quarterback Zach Wilson completed less than half of his attempts for 81 yards before being benched in the second half. Backup Tim Boyle barely hit the 50% completion mark in his time on the field. The Jets' leading receivers were Breece Hall and reserve tight end Jeremy Ruckert. Garrett Wilson, Tyler Conklin, and Lazard weren't involved whatsoever. Coach Robert Saleh was noncommittal about who his starting quarterback will be on Friday against the Miami Dolphins. Regardless of who is under center, Lazard does not need to be on fantasy rosters moving forward.

Allen Lazard Off The Fantasy Radar In Week 10

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard (knee) will not carry an injury designation into the weekend and is set to suit up on Sunday night after logging a full practice on Friday. Lazard has eclipsed double-digit fantasy points just once this season and could struggle to turn things around against the Las Vegas Raiders, who surrender the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing receivers. Although he has earned six targets in two straight contests, Lazard offers very little upside as the secondary option in an uninspiring New York passing offense. The 27-year-old cannot be started in fantasy lineups this week and should remain on the waiver wire.

Allen Lazard Limited On Wednesday With Knee Issue

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard (knee) got in a limited practice on Wednesday ahead of his team's Week 10 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Lazard came into his Week 9 game with the same injury designation but he ultimately wound up suiting up to take the field in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The Jets could still be taking it easy on their veteran wide receiver as they look to preserve him for Week 10. Lazard getting upgraded to a full practice session by Friday would be a good sign as to his availability in Week 10.

Allen Lazard Disappoints Again On Monday Night

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard, who entered the Monday night game against the Los Angeles Chargers as questionable due to a knee injury, ended up playing but disappointed with two catches on six targets for 18 yards in the 27-6 defeat. Ever since quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles in the season opener, Lazard hasn't really been on the fantasy radar and now has only 19 catches for 273 yards and one touchdown on 35 targets through eight games in his first season with the Jets. In addition to drops that have plagued the 27-year-old in 2023, he's also dealing with an inept Jets offense run by quarterback Zach Wilson, which will continue to keep his fantasy floor and ceiling very low. Fantasy managers should be able to find better WR4/flex options for Week 10.

Allen Lazard Expected To Play Monday Night

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard (knee), who is questionable for the Monday night game against the Los Angeles Chargers, is expected to play, according to sources. Lazard was a late addition to the team's Week 9 injury report with a knee issue, but the 27-year-old pass-catcher should be out there on Monday night. The Jets were likely being cautious when they put Lazard on the injury report after a limited practice on Saturday. The Jets have a great matchup against a generous Bolts defense to close out Week 9 action, but Lazard is still little more than a deep-league flex option in an offense run by quarterback Zach Wilson. Lazard has just one touchdown in his first year with the Jets and hasn't exceeded three receptions or 61 yards in any of his seven games to this point in 2023.

Allen Lazard Pops Up On Injury Report

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard (knee) is considered questionable for the upcoming Week 9 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Lazard seemed fine all week until he popped up on the injury report on Saturday. He was limited during Saturday's practice session, which isn't good news heading into the Monday night matchup against the Chargers. Lazard has been quiet recently anyway, but still remains a flex option in some formats. His absence could mean an increase in targets for veteran wideout Randall Cobb.

Allen Lazard Can't Be Trusted In Week 3

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard has been quiet to start the 2023 campaign and will look to get more involved in a Week 3 divisional matchup against the New England Patriots. New England has allowed a fair amount of production to opposing wideouts so far this season, but Lazard has just four catches through two games despite playing on the vast majority of New York's offensive snaps. With Zach Wilson at the helm, it's hard to expect substantial fantasy output from any of the Jets' pass-catchers. Lazard should not be considered in starting fantasy lineups this week and can remain on waiver wires in most leagues.

Sep 22, 2023 11:08 PM EST

Allen Lazard Does Little Against Cowboys

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard secured two of his four targets for 23 yards in a Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Lazard was the third-most targeted player on New York's offense, trailing just Garrett Wilson and tight end Tyler Conklin, but this didn't translate to much production with Zach Wilson under center. The 27-year-old will have a slightly easier matchup next week against the New England Patriots but fantasy managers should feel comfortable moving on from Lazard in most formats.

Allen Lazard - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard led the team in receiving yards in the season opener and will look to build upon that performance in a Week 2 bout with the Dallas Cowboys. Lazard is the clear WR2 behind Garrett Wilson in New York, but he's unlikely to become a consistent fantasy option with Zach Wilson taking over QB1 duties for the injured Aaron Rodgers (Achilles). In a difficult matchup against the Cowboys' stout defense, fantasy managers should look elsewhere for a starter and can consider dropping Lazard from their rosters in shallow formats.

Allen Lazard Posts 46 Yards In Season Opener

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard hauled in two of his four targets for 46 yards in a Week 1 victory over the Buffalo Bills. Lazard managed to lead the Jets in receiving yards but was out-targeted by second-year pro Garrett Wilson. The 27-year-old appears to be the WR2 for New York, but with Aaron Rodgers (ankle) possibly missing the rest of the season, it's hard to imagine deploying Lazard as anything more than a desperation flex option in fantasy lineups. He's likely to have some solid performances even with Zach Wilson under center, but it should be safe to move on from Lazard in most formats.

Sep 12, 2023 12:20 AM EST

Allen Lazard An Uninspiring Fantasy Option In Week 1

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard will make his regular-season debut for the team in a Week 1 home matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Lazard's pre-existing chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers could potentially help him succeed to begin the 2023 campaign, especially against a Buffalo defense that struggled against opposing receivers last season. Still, it seems relatively clear that second-year pro Garrett Wilson will be Rodgers' top target in New York, with Lazard, Mecole Hardman Jr., and Randall Cobb competing for opportunities behind him. Lazard could be a sneaky flex play in deeper leagues, but fantasy managers are likely to have better options in most formats.

Allen Lazard Dealing With AC Joint Injury

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard (shoulder) is dealing with an AC joint injury. He will be able to play in Week 1 but won't practice on Thursday, and his status for the preseason finale on Saturday against the New York Giants is unclear, according to head coach Robert Saleh. The 27-year-old will most likely not play this weekend as he looks to get back to 100 percent health for the start of the regular season. Lazard has a chance to return some real nice value as a late-round sleeper pick in fantasy drafts, especially after the retirement of Corey Davis on Wednesday. There is plenty of competition for targets in New York in 2023, but Lazard has a lot of chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers and scored 13 touchdowns with the future Hall of Famer the last two years in Green Bay.

Allen Lazard Dealing With Minor Injury

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard left training camp practice on Wednesday with an undisclosed injury and didn't return, but he's expected to be fine, according to sources. There isn't a specific timetable for Lazard's return, but all indications are that it's not a long-term issue. Before leaving, he made the play of practice with a 30-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Aaron Rodgers over cornerback Sauce Gardner. Don't expect to see the 27-year-old wideout play in the preseason finale this Saturday against the New York Giants, but he should be ready for Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. Lazard has excellent chemistry with Rodgers from their time in Green Bay, making him a late-round receiver to target in fantasy drafts. His 2023 outlook looks even better after Corey Davis retired on Wednesday.
