Allen Lazard News

Scores TD in defeat

Lazard had four receptions (six targets) for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-16 loss to Detroit. He rushed twice for no gain.

Analysis: Lazard finished the season on a high note, scoring his first touchdown since Week 9. The veteran wideout took a backseat to rookie Christian Watson in the second half of the season, but he still set new career highs in receptions (64) and yards (829) while scoring seven touchdowns. Lazard will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, providing solid hands and excellent run blocking for teams interested in acquiring him.

Leading receiver in rout

Lazard caught five of six targets for 59 yards in Sunday's 41-17 win over the Vikings.

Analysis: The Packers ran away with this one and didn't need to pass the ball much, so Lazard's modest numbers led the team in both catches and receiving yards. The veteran wideout has failed to score a TD in seven straight games, topping out at five receptions and 67 yards during that stretch, but Green Bay may need Lazard to produce a ceiling game in a must-win Week 18 clash with Detroit.

Leading receiver against Miami

Lazard caught five of 11 targets for 61 yards in Sunday's 26-20 win over the Dolphins.

Analysis: Christian Watson (hip) had a big first half before getting hurt, so Lazard wound up leading the Packers in targets and receiving yards while finishing one reception behind Watson. If the rookie wideout isn't ready to go for Week 17 against the Vikings, Lazard figures to be Aaron Rodgers' top option against a Minnesota secondary that has been vulnerable almost all year.

Quiet night in win

Lazard brought in one of two targets for seven yards in the Packers' 24-12 win over the Rams on Monday night.

Analysis: Lazard notably took a back seat to the rookie duo of Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson, who finished with a combined 9-101 line on 11 targets. Lazard's catch and yardage totals were both season lows for the fifth-year veteran, and the fact they came in a rare instance where both Doubs and Watson were available is worth at least keeping in mind. However, the Packers released veteran Sammy Watkins earlier Monday, so Lazard should still have a solid amount of opportunities for targets during what remains of the regular season.

Leads team in receiving

Lazard caught five of six targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 28-19 win over the Bears.

Analysis: Lazard helped the Packers move the chains, ultimately topping the team in receiving yards. Although he's now gone four straight games without a touchdown -- a span that's coincided with rookie teammate Christian Watson scoring a whopping eight times -- Lazard at least posted his best performance over that stretch on Sunday. He'll now enter Green Bay's bye week before returning to face the Rams in Week 15.

Low production in SNF loss

Lazard caught two of three targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 40-33 loss to the Eagles.

Analysis: Lazard did not carry an injury designation into Sunday's tilt, so his low usage can't be attributed to his nagging shoulder. Rookie Christian Watson (4/110/1) continued to produce WR1 numbers for the third week in a row, leaving scraps for the rest of a depleted receiver room. Lazard has performed well when healthy this season (40/553/5 across 10 games), so fantasy managers should forgive this dud ahead of a Week 13 matchup against the Bears on Sunday.

Ready for SNF

Lazard (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Eagles.

Analysis: Lazard hurt his shoulder Week 7, missed Week 8 and has played through the injury ever since, averaging 4.0 catches for 63 yards on 8.3 targets in a stretch that's coincided with Christian Watson's emergence. There's little question about those two serving as the lead duo for Green Bay again, especially with Romeo Doubs (ankle) ruled out another week.

Remains limited at practice

Lazard (shoulder) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.

Analysis: Since Lazard sat out a Week 8 road game against the Bills due to a shoulder injury, the issue has been evident on Packers practice reports in advance of the last three contests, all of which he managed at least an 87 percent share of snaps. His production has been somewhat sporadic, though, with 12 catches (on 25 targets) for 189 yards and one touchdown during that span. Friday's report will reveal whether or not Lazard ditches his designation ahead of Sunday's outing at Philadelphia.

Nov 24, 2022 12:42 PM EST

Limited at practice Wednesday

Lazard (shoulder) was limited at Wednesday's practice.

Analysis: Lazard's left shoulder has been a bother since he exited the Packers' Week 7 loss at Washington. But he's missed just one game as a result, otherwise suiting up for each of the last three contests. During that stretch, Lazard reeled in 12 of 25 targets for 189 yards and one touchdown. Rookie wide receiver Romeo Doubs (ankle) isn't expected to return for Sunday's outing in Philadelphia, so Lazard, Christian Watson, Randall Cobb (illness) and Sammy Watkins should continue to be the primary options at the position for quarterback Aaron Rodgers (thumb).

Five grabs in Week 11 loss

Lazard brought in five of 11 targets for 57 yards in the Packers' 27-17 loss to the Titans on Thursday night.

Analysis: Lazard paced the Packers in targets on the night, but he wasn't very efficient with his volume. However, he did finish second in receptions and receiving yards for Green Bay, with his last catch a clutch third-down conversion on the team's final drive. Lazard is offering solid but unspectacular production since putting up a season-high 116-yard effort against the Patriots in Week 4, topping out at six catches and 87 yards as far as single-game highs over the last six contests. Lazard may have an uphill battle improving on those numbers in a Week 12 road matchup against the Eagles a week from Sunday night.

Set to play in Week 11

Lazard (shoulder) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's contest against the Titans, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.

Analysis: Despite being listed as limited on all three Week 11 practice reports due to a lingering shoulder injury, Lazard will be available to a Packers offense without rookie wide receiver Romeo Doubs, who is missing a second game in a row due to a high-ankle sprain. Lazard doesn't have a problem seeing a high snap share when available due to his reliability in all situations, but his output can vary wildly. During Christian Watson's breakout this past Sunday versus the Cowboys, Lazard turned a season-high 98 percent share of snaps into just three catches (on four targets) for 45 yards.

Tagged as limited participant

Lazard (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant at Tuesday's walk-through practice.

Analysis: Lazard is maintaining his same listing from Monday's estimated report, but the Packers haven't provided any indication he suffered any setback with the shoulder issue after he played 60 snaps in this past Sunday's 31-28 overtime win over the Cowboys. Since sitting out a Week 8 loss to Buffalo with the injury, Lazard has played north of 85 percent of the Packers' snaps on offense in the subsequent two contests while stringing together a 7-132-1 receiving line on 14 targets. Lazard is expected to be ready to go for Thursday's game against the Titans, but the Packers' final Week 11 injury report Wednesday will reveal whether he carries a designation into that contest.

Limited on estimated report

Lazard (shoulder) was listed as limited on Monday's estimated injury report.

Analysis: Since sitting out Week 8 due to a shoulder issue, Lazard has been under practice limitations that now have continued into Week 11 prep. Still, he's handled snap shares of 87 and 98 percent the last two games en route to a cumulative 7-132-1 line on 14 targets. With Romeo Doubs sidelined due to a high-ankle sprain, Lazard will continue to be one of the top targets for quarterback Aaron Rodgers (thumb, DNP on Monday), assuming the duo again is active Thursday against the Titans.

Gains 45 yards in OT win

Lazard (shoulder) caught three of four targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 31-28 overtime win over the Cowboys.

Analysis: Lazard was able to suit up after being limited during practice with a shoulder injury. The four targets marked the lowest total for the veteran wideout since Week 2 (three targets). The low volume can be attributed to Aaron Rodgers attempting a season-low 20 passes. Fellow receiver Christian Watson exploded for three touchdowns, which also contributed to Lazard's reduced usage. Romeo Doubs (ankle) is expected to miss multiple weeks, so Lazard should continue to start for the Packers ahead of a tilt against the Titans on Thursday.

Ready for SUnday

Lazard (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Dallas.

Analysis: Lazard missed Week 8 but caught four passes for 87 yards and a touchdown in the Week 9 loss to Detroit, playing 88 percent of snaps on offense. With Romeo Doubs suffering a high-ankle sprain and expected to miss multiple games, Lazard is locked in as Aaron Rodgers' favorite target and has a good chance to extend a six-game streak with four or more catches and six or more targets. He's yet to have a huge game this year despite scoring TDs in five of seven appearances, as his lone outing with more than 100 yards was one of the two in which he didn't score.

Stays limited at practice

Lazard (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: Lazard maintained his activity level from the first session of Week 10 prep, as did running back Aaron Jones (ankle), while quarterback Aaron Rodgers (right thumb) and fellow wide receiver Sammy Watkins (knee) joined them after sitting out Wednesday. With rookie WR Romeo Doubs expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks due to a high-ankle sprain, Lazard and any other skill-position player that's available is in line for additional targets. First, though, Lazard will have one more chance to practice in full before potentially getting a designation for Sunday's game versus the Cowboys.

Nov 10, 2022 1:33 PM EST

Still limited by shoulder issue

Lazard (shoulder) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: The Packers are as banged-up as they've been all season, with quarterback Aaron Rodgers (right thumb) and fellow wide receivers Romeo Doubs (ankle) and Sammy Watkins sitting out Wednesday, Aaron Jones (ankle) joining Lazard as limited, and Christian Watson (concussion protocol) practicing in full. As long as Lazard is able to play through his shoulder concern, he'll be in line for a significant workload considering the state of the team's skill-position group. In his last five appearances, he's earned between seven and 10 targets per game en route to a cumulative 24-369-3 receiving line.

Nov 9, 2022 2:03 PM EST

Heavy usage in return

Lazard (shoulder) finished with four receptions (10 targets) for 87 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 15-9 loss to the Lions.

Analysis: Lazard returned from a one-game absence with a vengeance, reclaiming his No. 1 wideout role and posting numbers in accordance with that title. The 26-year-old has produced a healthy 30/427/5 line through seven games this season. Fellow starter Romeo Doubs (ankle) was carted off the field Sunday, so Lazard should continue to see heavy targets as one of the few remaining receivers Aaron Rodgers can trust heading into a matchup against the Cowboys next Sunday.

Nov 6, 2022 2:30 PM EST

Back in action Sunday

Lazard (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Lions, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.

Analysis: Lazard couldn't advance beyond limited participation in practice this week, but he demonstrated enough progress in his recovery from the shoulder injury that sidelined him for last week's loss to the Bills to gain clearance to return to the lineup. He'll presumably step back in as the Packers' No. 1 receiver, a role that has translated to an average of 4.3 receptions for 56.6 yards per game. He'll have a good chance at clearing both of those averages while he faces off against a vulnerable Detroit secondary.

Nov 6, 2022 8:43 AM EST

Questionable for Sunday

Lazard (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Detroit, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: The same goes for rookie wideout Christian Watson, who returned from a hamstring injury last week but then suffered a concussion. Lazard missed the Week 8 loss to Washington, his second absence of the season, but he has a chance to return this Sunday after logging limited practices throughout the week. Green Bay and Detroit are scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, with inactive lists due around 11:30.
