Heads to IR

Cleveland placed Schwartz (concussion) on injured reserve Wednesday.

Analysis: Schwartz suffered a concussion during the Week 13 win over Houston and will now miss at least four games after landing on IR. In a corresponding move, Cleveland claimed Jaelon Darden off waivers from Tampa Bay.

Not practicing Wednesday

Schwartz (concussion) won't practice Wednesday, Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site reports.

Analysis: Schwartz suffered a concussion during the Week 13 win over Houston and remains sidelined to start Week 14 prep. The second-year wideout will have two more opportunities to return to practice before the team needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's game against the Bengals.

Dealing with concussion

Schwartz was placed in concussion protocol Monday, Brad Stainbrook of reports.

Analysis: Schwartz sustained a concussion in Sunday's win over the Texans, placing his status for Week 14 in doubt. He'll have to clear protocol and return to practice to dispel any concerns over his availability for the Browns' matchup with the Bengals. If Schwartz is not able to go, Michael Woods could be active for the first time since Week 11.

Minimal role in win

Schwartz caught his lone target for 12 yards, had one carry for six yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 27-14 win over Houston.

Analysis: Schwartz took a step back Week 13 after scoring a 31-yard touchdown run the previous week. On Cleveland's second series, his fumble led to Houston taking a first-quarter lead. The Browns were able to overcome the miscue, but it was another reminder of the ball security issues that have plagued Schwartz. He finished with five snaps on a day when the team lost slot receiver David Bell (hand). Demetric Felton (36 snaps) was the primary beneficiary of the injury.

Scores on opening drive

Schwartz caught one of two targets for 17 yards and had one carry for a 31-yard touchdown run in Sunday's 23-17 overtime victory of Tampa Bay.

Analysis: Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski has prepared well on scripted opening drives and that continued Sunday, the sixth time in 11 games the Browns have struck on their opening possession. Schwartz, who has been invisible on offense this season, took a double-reverse flip from Kareem Hunt and followed superb blocking by quarterback Jacoby Brissett and wideout Amari Cooper to give Cleveland the early lead. It was Schwartz's first touchdown since Week 16 of 2021. The Browns drafted the speedy wideout with the idea of getting the ball into his hands in non-conventional ways, but his snaps were curtailed after the season opener. After Week 1, Schwartz had just one catch and five targets over the nine games entering Sunday's contest.

Makes first catch since Week 1

Schwartz caught his lone target for three yards in Sunday's 39-17 loss to the Dolphins in Week 10.

Analysis: Schwartz hauled in his first pass since Week 1 while playing 12 snaps, his most since Week 6. He's been marginalized due to a series of mistakes and drops. For a time, Schwartz a return role on kickoffs, but that spot now belongs to rookie Jerome Ford.

Healthy scratch Week 7

Schwartz (coach's decision) is inactive Week 7 against Baltimore.

Analysis: Schwartz will be a healthy scratch after suiting up each of the past three weeks, though considering he hasn't recorded a catch since Week 1, his absence shouldn't cause any issues for the offense. Rookie Michael Woods was active for the first time last week and even caught one of his two targets, so it's possible he has surpassed Schwartz on the depth chart.

Gets three garbage-time targets

Schwartz did not catch any of three targets in Sunday's 38-15 loss to New England in Week 6.

Analysis: Schwartz has been invisible all season, but got some late-game run when the Browns were down by three scores. And it wasn't a very impressive showing for the second-year wideout, who dropped passes on consecutive plays on Cleveland's final drive. A case of the drops is largely why Schwartz has seen limited playing time this season.

Gets first target since Week 1

Schwartz did not catch his lone target in Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Chargers in Week 5.

Analysis: The target was the first since Week 1 for Schwartz, who played a season low eight snaps on offense. The 2021 third-round pick has yet to make an impact and has apparently fallen out of favor.

Invisible in loss

Schwartz played 11 snaps and was not targeted in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Falcons in Week 4.

Analysis: Schwartz's diminished role continued Week 4, the third consecutive week without a target and 12 snaps or fewer. One possible path to relevancy is in the return game, which suffered an injury to Jerome Ford (ankle), who had handled kick returns the last three games. Schwartz was Cleveland's primary kickoff returner for a long stretch in 2021.

Playing time dwindling

Schwartz was not targeted and played five snaps in Thursday's 29-17 win over Pittsburgh in Week 3.

Analysis: Schwartz's playing time has dropped in successive weeks, from 22 in Week 1 to 12 then five. He has return experience and was in the mix during preseason, but those chores have gone to others the first three weeks. Schwartz is offering little to the Browns or fantasy managers.

Goes untargeted in loss

Schwartz was not targeted over 12 snaps in Sunday's 31-30 loss to the Jets in Week 2.

Analysis: Schwartz's playing time slipped from 23 snaps in Week 1, one more than rookie David Bell, to 12 in Week 2, eight fewer than Bell. The Browns have a quick turnaround for Week 3's matchup with the Steelers on Thursday. Thus far, only tight ends Jesse James (wrist, out) and Harrison Bryant (thumb, thigh) are banged up, so it might be more of the same for Schwartz this week.
