According to the team, the Miami Dolphins have signed former Miami (OH) quarterback Brett Gabbert, the younger brother of veteran NFL QB Blaine Gabbert, to an undisclosed contract. Linebacker William Bradley-King was waived in a corresponding move. The 24-year-old spent six seasons with the RedHawks (53 starts), completing 58.5% of his passes for 10,814 yards, 80 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions. However, he never tossed for more than 3,000 yards or 26 passing TDs in a single season. Although he was with the school for an extended period, three campaigns consisted of eight games or fewer due to COVID-19 and injuries (leg, shoulder). Gabbert is set to compete with fellow rookie signal-caller Quinn Ewers and recently acquired free agent quarterback Zach Wilson for the opportunity to back up incumbent starter Tua Tagovailoa
