Colbie Young Making a Push for Bengals' Third Receiver Spot

Cincinnati Bengals rookie wide receiver Colbie Young caught three of his eight targets in Saturday night's preseason win over the Bears, racking up 48 yards and a touchdown. Through two preseason games, Young leads the team in targets and yards, and the 2026 fourth-round pick has emerged as a potential third receiver option behind Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. The role has been held over much of the past three seasons by 2023 sixth-round pick Andrei Iosivas, but in games with both Chase and Higgins active, the 26-year-old has struggled to find any consistent production. While few receivers league-wide are capable of threatening the Bengals' top duo for consistent volume, Young is a toolsy prospect who ran a 4.49-second 40-yard dash at 218 pounds, and in an offense coming into the season healthy and projected to be among the league's highest-scoring units, he has spike week potential as a deep best ball sleeper. With his strong training camp translating into in-game scenarios, it could be a matter of time before Young overtakes Iosivas and earns a significant role in three-receiver sets.

Colbie Young Keeps Making Big Plays at Bengals Camp

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Colbie Young continues to make noise in training camp. Dan Hoard noted Sunday that the rookie seems to come down with at least one catch of 20-plus yards in every practice, and wide receivers coach Troy Walters pointed to Young's size, strength, speed and hands as the reason. More importantly, Walters said Cincinnati's quarterbacks are starting to trust him enough to give him chances downfield. Young, a fourth-round pick out of Georgia, showed some of that in Thursday's preseason opener with two catches for 28 yards, including a 20-yard grab on third-and-16. He has even mixed in for a rep with Joe Burrow, though Andrei Iosivas still has a major experience edge in the No. 3 receiver battle. Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins aren't going anywhere at the top of the depth chart, but Young keeps giving the Bengals reasons to get him on the field. He's turning into one of the more interesting rookie receivers to watch in Cincinnati.

Rookie Receiver Colbie Young Stands Out During Minicamp

ESPN's Ben Baby writes that Cincinnati Bengals rookie fourth-round wide receiver Colbie Young stood out during minicamp this spring. "I think he's going to fight and battle," offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher said. "He's a young player, but there are things that I think he can do quickly and help us." The Bengals are looking to create more explosive plays on offense in 2026, and finding a consistent No. 3 receiver behind stars Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins could be a big part of that equation. Receiver Andrei Iosivas and tight end Mike Gesicki had productive spring workouts as well, but it appears that Young, a University of Georgia product, could be right in the thick of the WR3 competition this summer at training camp. Young has decent speed for his size (6-foot-5, 218 pounds), but he was never especially productive in college at Georgia and the University of Miami, finishing with 1,437 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 116 receptions over four seasons. Right now, Young should only be on the radar of fantasy managers in dynasty/keeper formats.

Colbie Young Could Earn No. 3 Receiver Role

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Colbie Young could find himself in a starting role to begin the season. According to ESPN, Young is competing for the No. 3 role with Andrei Iosivas. Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher said that he believes is going to fight and battle for that third wideout spot this summer. There's no way he can go any higher than that with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins on the roster. The Bengals selected Young in the fourth-round out of Georgia during this year's draft. His stats don't jump off the page, but the Bengals like his potential. He could be an interesting late-round option in fantasy drafts if he wins the No. 3 receiver job.
