Dameon Pierce Doesn’t Do Much In Return

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce returned from a three-game absence in the team's 24-21 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars but failed to do much in the contest. Pierce ran just five times for 14 yards while catching only one pass for four yards on Sunday. The second-year back has struggled on the ground this season, which has opened the door for veteran Devin Singletary to earn more opportunities. Singletary had 12 touches for 72 yards in this game. The Texans' backfield has turned into a 50/50 split, and Pierce will look to get back on track next week at home against the Denver Broncos.

Dameon Pierce Active In Week 12

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) is officially active for the Week 12 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Pierce makes his return after missing the last three games with an ankle injury. Pierce got in some more work during practice this week and was expected to make his return this weekend. It's good news for the Texans, but fantasy managers that have Pierce shouldn't automatically throw him back into their starting lineups, depending on the rest of your options at the position. Devin Singletary was actually more effective in a lead-back role for Houston with Pierce sidelined, and the coaching staff basically said this week that they'd like to use a combination of Pierce and Singletary when they are both healthy. Pierce has averaged just 3.0 yards per carry and has just one touchdown through seven games in 2023.

Dameon Pierce Likely To Return In Week 12

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) is expected to return for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. The 23-year-old missed the Texans' previous three contests because of an ankle issue and entered the weekend riding a questionable designation. However, he practiced in full all week, so fantasy managers had expected him back all along. Nonetheless, it's possible Pierce could be eased back into the swing of things, meaning Devin Singletary could remain involved. Yet, a timeshare wouldn't be ideal for either man's fantasy potential. As a result, fantasy managers should consider other options if at all possible.

Dameon Pierce Questionable For Week 12, Expected To Play

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) has been listed as questionable for Week 12 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars but is "trending toward being active," according to Aaron Wilson of KRPC. This update is hardly a surprise considering Pierce was a full participant in practice all week long. With that said, Devin Singletary has asserted himself as Houston's workhorse back since Pierce last saw the field in Week 8. As a result, Singletary could be in line to handle the bulk of snaps out of the backfield on Sunday. Managers should view Pierce as nothing more than a fringe top-36 running back in fantasy football.

Dameon Pierce Back At Practice

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) is back on the practice field on Wednesday. It's a good sign for Pierce, who has missed the last three games due to an ankle injury. As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks this week, he should have a chance to return for a divisional clash this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the last three contests with Pierce sidelined, Devin Singletary has stepped up with 288 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 65 carries (4.43 yards per tote) while adding five catches for 17 yards through the air. Pierce could be susceptible to a fewer snaps if he's able to return in Week 12, which will make him a pretty shaky RB3/flex in fantasy lineups.

Dameon Pierce Not Expected To Play In Week 11

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) returned to practice on Friday but is not expected to play in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday, according to league sources. He's trending towards being back in Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Pierce's frustrating sophomore season continues, as he will now miss his third straight game with his ankle injury. The 23-year-old was looking extremely impressive as a rookie before a season-ending injury, but he's averaging just 3.0 yards per carry and has one touchdown in seven games in 2023. Devin Singletary has become Houston's lead back with Pierce hurt and has seen 43 carries in the last two games, including a 30-carry, 150-yard, one-touchdown outburst in last week's win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Singletary will once again have RB2 upside this weekend against Arizona.

Dameon Pierce Trending Towards Missing Another Game

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) remains sidelined at practice again on Thursday. Pierce has yet to practice this week and is trending towards missing his third straight game. Fantasy managers should be getting ready to fire Devin Singletary up again as an RB2/3 after he exploded for a season-high 30 carries for 150 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 upset win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The matchup is a nice one against the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday, too, so Singletary shouldn't be lingering on any waiver wires at this point with Pierce still hobbled. Pierce has one more day to get back on the practice field.

Dameon Pierce Not Practicing Wednesday

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) is still absent from practice on Wednesday. Pierce is off to a bad start this week after already missing the last two games with an ankle injury. The 23-year-old is going to need to return to practice later this week to have a shot at suiting up in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals. And even if Pierce does return this weekend, his workload could be scaled back after Devin Singletary went off for 150 rushing yards in the surprising Week 10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Pierce has been a big disappointment in his second NFL season in 2023, averaging just 3.0 yards per carry on 109 rushing attempts for 327 yards and one touchdown in seven games played.

Dameon Pierce Officially Ruled Out For Week 10

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. This was widely expected considering he hasn't been able to practice at all over the last two weeks. In his absence, the Texans will once again turn to Devin Singletary as their lead back. He totaled just 26 yards on 13 carries last week, but that was against an extremely good Buccaneers run defense. He could fare better against the Bengals, picking up more YPC while also seeing extra work in the passing attack. Fantasy managers should view Singletary as a fine RB3/FLEX play this weekend.

Dameon Pierce Misses Another Practice Thursday

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) remained sidelined at practice for the second straight day on Thursday. After sitting out the Week 9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 23-year-old second-year back isn't looking good to be able to play this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals on the road. He will need to get in some work on Friday to have a shot at suiting up. Fantasy managers should have already been preparing as if Pierce will miss his second straight game. With Pierce out last week, Devin Singletary was Houston's lead back, but he didn't take advantage of the opportunity in a game where rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud did all the heavy lifting in the comeback win over Tampa. Singletary had a season-high 13 carries for just 26 yards and caught both of his targets for no gain.

Dameon Pierce Still Not Practicing

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday ahead of the Week 10 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. Pierce missed the Week 9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with an ankle injury, and his early-week practice status suggests he could be at risk of missing another game. If so, Devin Singletary would operate as the team's starter again in a natural matchup for running backs. However, Singletary posted just 26 total yards in a game in which the Texans scored 39 points, so he clearly has a low floor and limited upside.

Dameon Pierce Won't Play Against Buccaneers

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) will not play in the Week 9 game on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to an ankle injury he suffered in the Week 8 loss to the Carolina Panthers. With Pierce sidelined this weekend, it will allow Devin Singletary to work in a lead-back role for Houston, with Mike Boone and Dare Ogunbowale serving in change-of-pace roles behind him. With the added playing time and touches, Singletary will be on the RB3/flex radar for fantasy managers in Week 9. After a strong rookie campaign before suffering a season-ending injury in 2022, the 23-year-old Pierce has taken a step back in his sophomore year, averaging a paltry 3.0 yards per carry and just one rushing touchdown on 109 carries through seven games.

Dameon Pierce Still Absent From Practice

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) is not practicing again on Thursday as he deals with an ankle injury he suffered in the Week 8 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Pierce's status for Sunday's Week 9 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is still being determined, and a league source said it's being contemplated to have him miss a game to allow his ankle to heal up. Fantasy managers that have been rolling with Pierce are probably going to have to find a replacement at the RB position this weekend. If the 23-year-old is able to return to practice on Friday, though, he could have a shot at playing on Sunday. If Pierce is ultimately held out, Devin Singletary would have added fantasy value for the week as more of an RB3/flex consideration. Mike Boone would also have a bigger role as Singletary's backfield complement.

Dameon Pierce Misses Practice With Ankle Injury

Houston Texans Pro Bowl alternate running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury, according to a league source. His status for Sunday's Week 9 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is still being determined. The Texans will see where Pierce is at as the week progresses. Fantasy managers should consider the 23-year-old second-year back to be firmly up in the air to play this weekend. If he's out or limited against Tampa, Devin Singletary would enter the fantasy picture as an RB3/flex, with Mike Boone likely serving in a change-of-pace role in Houston's backfield. Pierce ended up playing only 43 percent of the offensive snaps in the Week 8 loss to the Carolina Panthers and had 12 carries for 46 yards. He has been a big disappointment in his sophomore campaign and is averaging a meager 3.0 yards per carry through seven games played.

Dameon Pierce Held In Check In Week 8 Loss

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce couldn't get much going on the ground in the team's 15-13 loss against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8. Pierce ran the ball just 12 times for 46 yards in the contest. The second-year back continues to see limited opportunities on offense with veteran Devin Singletary in Houston. They split the backfield almost equally on Sunday, which led to a modest production from Pierce. The young back did have a two-yard score called back early in the second quarter before fullback Andrew Beck punched it in. Pierce will look to get something going next week at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Dameon Pierce Draws A Solid Matchup In Week 8

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce has not gotten off to a hot start in 2023. But he could be in for a nice game in Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are allowing the second-most fantasy points to running backs per game this season and the second-most rush yards per game (144.3). Pierce's 33% snap share in Week 6 was not a great sign for his value moving forward. However, in a contest where the running back should be leaned on heavily, he is a solid RB2 on Sunday.

Dameon Pierce Plays Season-Low 21 Snaps In Win

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce was held in check in the team's 20-13 win over the New Orleans Saints. Pierce struggled on the ground once again in Week 6, rushing just 13 times for 34 yards. But more surprising was backup running back Devin Singletary's involvement on offense. The second-year back was outsnapped by Singletary on Sunday while playing just 35% of the team snaps. After securing 20-plus touches in back-to-back games, Pierce took a backseat on offense against the Saints. He will head into the Week 7 bye with just 97 carries for 281 yards (2.9 yards per carry) and one touchdown.

Dameon Pierce Draws A Tough Matchup In Week 6

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce might be hard to trust in fantasy at home against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. Pierce will face a Saints run defense that is allowing just 91 rush yards and 12 fantasy points per game in half-PPR formats to start the season. The second-year back, who's only averaging 2.94 yards per carry in five games, might struggle to get much going on the ground. However, it is a positive that he has 20-plus touches in back-to-back games for the first time this year. Due to the potential high volume, Pierce is a low-end RB2 in Week 6.

Dameon Pierce Sees 21 Touches In Loss

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce touched the ball 21 times in the team's 21-19 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5. Pierce had 20 carries for 66 yards while also catching one pass for 16 yards. The 21 touches on Sunday marks the second consecutive game he has eclipsed 20-plus touches and 80-plus yards from scrimmage. However, Pierce is averaging just a mere 3.3 yards per carry in those contests. The second-year back will look to get going next week at home against the New Orleans Saints.

Dameon Pierce Practicing Again Thursday

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (knee) was practicing for the second straight day on Thursday and seems fine, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson. Pierce was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday and will likely be listed the same on Thursday. The second-year back had 25 carries for 108 yards in the Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and didn't appear to get injured in Sunday's game, so the Texans are likely just taking it easy on him this week. Barring a surprise downgrade on Friday, Pierce seems likely to play in Week 5 on the road in Atlanta against the Falcons. As long as he's active this weekend, Pierce should remain locked into starting fantasy lineups as an RB2 in what has been a surprisingly productive Texans offense through the first four weeks.
