DeWayne McBride Released By Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are releasing running back DeWayne McBride as Tuesday's roster cutdown deadline approaches. McBride was selected by the Vikings in the seventh round in the 2023 NFL Draft after a stellar final season at UAB. McBride rushed 233 times for 1,713 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2022. Given his college production, there might be other teams interested in picking him up. There's also a chance he ends up back with the Vikings on the practice squad. For now, it looks like second-year running back Ty Chandler is the direct backup to Alexander Mattison in 2023.

DeWayne McBride Finds End Zone In Preseason Finale

Minnesota Vikings running back DeWayne McBride carried the ball eight times for 37 yards and a touchdown in the team's 18-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals as the preseason ended on Saturday. McBride failed to haul in his lone target in this one, while his longest run went for nine yards. The 2023 seventh-round pick looks to be the fourth option on the depth chart at this point, as Alexander Mattison, Ty Chandler, and Kene Nwangwu are ahead of him for playing time. The 22-year-old isn't on the fantasy radar to start the season, and a lot would need to unfold for him to have any appeal during his rookie campaign. At most, he is a player to stash on dynasty rosters going forward.

DeWayne McBride Scores In Preseason Loss

Minnesota Vikings running back DeWayne McBride carried the ball six times for 18 yards and a touchdown in the team's 24-16 loss to the Titans on Saturday night. The rookie caught his only target for an 11-yard gain, as he was out-touched 11 to seven by Ty Chandler in this one. The 2023 seventh-round pick could find himself buried on the depth chart as Alexander Mattison is the clear starter, while Chandler looks to be the favorite to be the RB2. That leaves McBride as potentially the RB4 as Kene Nwangwu has shown his ability on special teams and high-end speed out of the backfield. Fantasy managers can keep the rookie off the fantasy radar as a lot will need to unfold for McBride to have any fantasy appeal.
