Dontrelle Inman: Generates 181 yards in 2019

Inman registered 12 receptions for 181 scoreless yards in 2019.

Analysis: Inman started the season with the Chargers and played four games before being cut and signing with Indianapolis, where he geared up in three outings. He'll turn 31 years old in late January, and he'll be an unrestricted free agent in March.

Dontrelle Inman: Hauls in two

Inman caught two of three targets for 25 yards in Monday night's 34-7 loss to the Saints.

Analysis: Inman's output included a long catch of 22 yards, showing his familiarity with the Colts' offense after rejoining the team earlier in the week. Although he's just a depth option, Indy's rotating cast of receivers at least opens opportunities for those who remain healthy, potentially allowing Inman to carve out a little late-season value.

Dontrelle Inman: Inks deal with Indianapolis

Inman signed with the Colts on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: Indianapolis attrition at wide receiver led to the team re-signing Inman, who spent last season with the team. Inman worked out for the team ahead of Week 14 and should be able to get on the field for his new team rather quickly given his familiarity with the system. Zach Pascal and Marcus Johnson project to be the top receivers in Week 15 if T.Y. Hilton (calf) remains out, but it would not be surprising if Inman were able to carve out a role.

Dontrelle Inman: Works out for Colts

The Colts worked out Inman (quadriceps) on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Analysis: Inman had a nine-game stint with Indianapolis last season, reeling in 28 of 39 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns. The Colts may be inspecting his health to get a sense of whether he can help a banged-up receiving corps. Inman spent most of October and November on IR as he tended to a quad injury before the Chargers waived him Nov. 25, so he may find himself employed if he passes the requisite tests.

Dontrelle Inman: Let go by Chargers

The Chargers cut Inman (quadriceps) off their injured reserve list Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Analysis: Inman never really re-captured his old magic with the Chargers after he was signed by the team prior to the season. The 30-year-old suited up in just four games before getting hurt this year, hauling in eight of 13 targets for 132 yards. He'll be subject to waivers and can now be claimed by any team in the league.

Dontrelle Inman: Lands on IR

Inman (quad) has been placed on IR.

Analysis: With Mike Williams (back) and Travis Benjamin (hip) out this past weekend, Inman's profile in the Chargers offense was set to expand in Week 4. Unfortunately, he suffered a fourth-quarter injury that's landed him on IR, leaving the team with Keenan Allen, Geremy Davis and Andre Patton as its top healthy wideouts.

Dontrelle Inman: Likely facing extended absence

The Chargers are considering placing Inman (quadriceps) on injured reserve, gilbert reports.

Analysis: The 30-year-old sustained the injury during Sunday's game against the Dolphins while seeing an expanded workload with Mike Williams (back) and Travis Benjamin (hip) inactive. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, but if the team is considering injured reserve it seems likely Inman will be sidelined for at least a few games. More information should be available Wednesday as the Chargers release their official injury report.

Dontrelle Inman: Dealing with injury Sunday

Inman (quad) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Analysis: Inman suffered the injury early in the fourth quarter, in a play where he made a catch, but had his cleats catch the turf and over-stretching his leg. This is unfortunate news for Inman, who was upgraded after Mike Williams (back) and Travis Benjamin (hip) were both ruled out of the game. As long as Inman is out, expect Geremy Davis and Andre Patton see an increase in snaps.

Dontrelle Inman: Opportunity knocks

With Mike Williams (back) out and Travis Benjamin (hip) doubtful, Inman is in line for an expanded role in the Chargers offense Sunday against the Dolphins.

Analysis: Meanwhile, tight end Virgil Green (groin) has also been ruled out for the contest. Given that Keenan Allen, who has logged a league-high 42 targets through three games, can't catch every pass Philip Rivers throws Sunday, Inman represents a sneaky free agent grab for those scrambling for Week 4 wideout help, as well as a speculative low-cost DFS option.

Dontrelle Inman: Catches one pass

Inman caught one of his three targets for 23 yards in the 27-20 loss Sunday to the Texans

Analysis: If Keenan Allen were ever to go down with injury, Inman -- not Travis Benjamin -- would likely be the primary beneficiary, as the veteran wide receiver seems to have an innate connection with quarterback Philip Rivers despite the ho-hum target figures, particularly in intermediary routes. Considering Allen, Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams combined to receive 31 of Rivers' 46 targets Sunday, the lack of opportunities likely hinders any sort of fantasy upside Inman might have unless an injury were to occur.

Dontrelle Inman: Sees only two targets

Inman recorded a 28-yard reception in the Chargers' 13-10 loss to the Lions on Sunday.

Analysis: Inman played 38 snaps, but once again was relegated to a fantasy afterthought, even with Mike Williams (knee) playing just 41 snaps. The 30-year-old receiver simply isn't a consistent enough force in the offense to manufacture fantasy value.

September 16, 2019 8:39 AM EST

Dontrelle Inman: Plays 27 snaps in win

Inman caught his lone target for five yards in Sunday's thrilling overtime win over the Colts.

Analysis: Inman's production was mild, but it's worth pointing out the 30-year-old did play 27 snaps, four less than Travis Benjamin and 14 less than Mike Williams (knee) despite joining the team in the final week of the preseason. Inman's familiarity with the Chargers -- particularly quarterback Philip Rivers -- would actually make him an intriguing fantasy asset should Keenan Allen get injured, but until that point he should simply be considered depth in an otherwise explosive offense.

Dontrelle Inman: Heading to familiar home

Inman agreed to a contract with the Chargers on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: After visiting the Jets on Tuesday and receiving an offer per Rapoport, the wide receiver decided a reunion with the team he's spent four seasons with in his career was too good to pass up. Familiarity with the offense, and primarily Philip Rivers, could lead to a possible role in the offense for the 30-year-old. The depth chart is pretty set in three-wide sets, but Inman stands to battle with Geremy Davis and Artavis Scott for the fourth receiver role as it stands now.

Dontrelle Inman: Visits Jets

Inman is visiting with the Jets on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: Inman visited with the Lions yesterday, but the team ultimately chose to sign Jordan Lasley to the 90-man roster. The 30-year-old wideout was granted his request to be released by the Patriots over the weekend, and is searching for a depth role.

Dontrelle Inman: Sets up Detroit visit

Inman is scheduled to visit the Lions, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: Inman asked for his released from the Patriots and was granted his request over the weekend. He'll now look at other opportunities for a depth role, starting with a Detroit squad that has open competition behind its lead trio of Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones (undisclosed) and Danny Amendola (undisclosed).

August 19, 2019 12:40 PM EST

Dontrelle Inman: Patriots move on

The Patriots have agreed to release Inman, Mike Reiss of reports.

Analysis: The move will be made at the request of the wideout, who didn't seem to be headed toward a big role with the Patriots. The 30-year-old hauled in 28 catches for 304 yards and three TDs in nine games for the Colts last season and figures to catch on elsewhere as a depth option.

August 18, 2019 2:02 PM EST

Dontrelle Inman: Quiet in preseason opener

Inman caught both of his targets for 23 yards in Thursday's 31-3 preseason opening win over the Lions.

Analysis: Inman didn't play a significant role in the blowout victory. The 30-year-old wide receiver totaled 810 yards with the Chargers in 2016 but hasn't been able to crack 350 in either of the two seasons since. Unless he earns a larger role in his new team's offense, Inman will remain an afterthought for a third consecutive campaign.

Dontrelle Inman: Resumes practicing

Inman (undisclosed) participated in Wednesday's practice, Mike Reiss of ESPN.comreports.

Analysis: Inman was held out of recent practice sessions due to an undisclosed injury, but now appears to have returned to full health. The 30-year-old wideout will look to build some momentum in training camp while Julian Edelman (thumb) and Demaryius Thomas (Achilles) remain sidelined, and carve out a depth role.

July 31, 2019 2:01 PM EST

Dontrelle Inman: Absent Sunday

Inman (undisclosed) wasn't present at Sunday's practice, Mike Reiss of reports.

Analysis: It's unclear what held Inman out of practice Sunday or if the issue will hold him out of future practices. The 30-year-old was unable to separate himself from the rest of New England's receivers in the team's offseason program and has had a quiet training camp four days in. Inman's absence comes at an inopportune time, as he's unable to take advantage of additional reps offered in the absence of Julian Edelman (thumb) and Demaryius Thomas (Achilles).

July 28, 2019 8:58 AM EST

Dontrelle Inman: Looks to build momentum in camp

Inman did not distinguish himself during the Patriots' offseason program, Nick Underhill of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: That said, Inman helped out the Colts down the stretch last season, so there's still a chance the 30-year-year-old can gain some momentum once training camp opens up. To that end, Inman is one of the Patriots' pass-catchers who figures to benefit from the fact that Julian Edelman is expected to miss a few weeks due to a thumb injury.
