J'Mari Taylor Heavily Featured Against Saints

Jacksonville Jaguars undrafted rookie running back J'Mari Taylor was a main contributor in a 24-20 win over the New Orleans Saints in the preseason opener on Saturday. He finished with 22 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown, which ended up as the game-winning score for the Jaguars. He also ran in a two-point conversion. Taylor has lots of competition in the running back room, so it's doubtful he is worth consideration in redraft anytime soon, but this promising performance should draw the eyes of dynasty managers. Veteran DeeJay Dallas was also involved in the rushing attack but had a much less efficient 2.6 yards per carry on 10 carries. The clear top three running backs of Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez Jr., and LeQuint Allen Jr. surely will make the roster, but as of now, it seems Taylor is the favorite if Liam Coen decides to keep four backs on the roster. He is worth taxi consideration in dynasty leagues for now.

J'Mari Taylor Could be Dynasty Stash Option

Jacksonville Jaguars running back J'Mari Taylor is an interesting late-round target for dynasty managers. Taylor was brought in as an undrafted free agent following this year's draft. He's looking at an uphill battle this summer, but the Jaguars don't have a ton of consistent contributors ahead of him. Taylor could very well earn himself a role on this roster if he's able to impress the organization during training camp and the preseason. This past season, Taylor rushed for 1,062 yards with 14 touchdowns across 13 games with Virginia. He could be worth snagging in the final round of dynasty drafts or stashing on the taxi squad.

Can J'Mari Taylor Break Through Crowded Running Back Depth Chart in Jacksonville?

After recording over 1,300 yards from scrimmage and 15 touchdowns across 265 touches as a senior at the University of Virginia in 2025, running back J'Mari Taylor did not hear his name called in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, Taylor landed a free agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, giving him a chance to earn an NFL roster spot. Jacksonville also enters 2026 without a proven RB1 on the roster after running back Travis Etienne Jr. departed the team in free agency. Still, Taylor currently sits at the bottom of a crowded running back depth chart in Jacksonville. Second-year backs Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen Jr. both played roles for the team as rookies in 2025, and the Jags signed former Washington Commanders back Chris Rodriguez Jr. in free agency. Even Jacksonville's current RB4, DeeJay Dallas, has been a quality special teamer throughout his NFL career to this point. As a result, Taylor may have a difficult time catching on with the Jaguars. His dynasty value is likely limited to the very deepest of league formats following the NFL Draft.
