The Washington Commanders have re-signed free agent defensive tackle Carl Davis, according to an announcement from the team. A third-round pick back in 2015, Davis' career has included stints with the Ravens, Browns, Colts, Jaguars, Patriots, Cowboys, and Commanders. He appeared in three games with Washington last year, amassing just three tackles. He's a physical specimen in the trenches, checking in at 6-foot-5 and 335 pounds. Beyond his brief stint with the Commanders last year, Carl Davis has history with head coach Dan Quinn dating back to their time in Dallas. He played in three games for the Cowboys in 2023. This move gives the Commanders veteran depth up front.

Chicago Bears safety Kevin Byard, who signed a two-year deal with Chicago ahead of last season, said he "would love to be here long term, to finish my career with the Chicago Bears." Byard spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans before playing with the Titans, Bears and Philadelphia Eagles the last two years. The 31-year-old veteran defensive back said he hasn't had any talks with the Bears about a contract extension after he had a career-high 130 tackles (80 solo), two sacks, five tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 17 starts with the team in 2024. The former third-rounder (64th overall) in 2016 out of Middle Tennessee State was a Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro for the Titans in his second season in 2017 and repeated the feat in 2021. Byard has had at least 108 combined tackles in each of the last four years.

Tennessee Titans cornerback L'Jarius Sneed (knee, quad) continues to make progress and should be "ready to go for the fall," according to Jim Wyatt of the team's official website. His rehab workouts have included reps on the grass, and head coach Brian Callahan is reportedly pleased with the cornerback's progress. Acquired from the Kansas City Chiefs last offseason, Sneed was only healthy for five games during his first campaign with the Titans. Along the way, he made 23 tackles but failed to force a turnover.

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that the team won't split their quarterback repetitions this offseason evenly for each of veteran Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. "It's not going to be like everybody gets 25% of the reps, that's not how it's gonna be," Stefanski said. It sounds as though Gabriel and Sanders could see more reps in practices because of the fact that they have less experience than both Flacco and Pickett. "We want to give everyone enough reps so that we can learn more about them." It's anyone's guess as to who will win the starting job under center for the Browns to begin the 2025 regular season, but it would be a bit of an upset if it's one of either Gabriel or Sanders. The 40-year-old Flacco won't have much fantasy upside if he wins the job, but he could give the Browns the most realistic shot at winning to begin the year.

There is an ongoing competition at left guard with the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason, according to The Athletic's Tashan Reed. Left tackle Kolton Miller, center Jackson Powers-Johnson, right guard Alex Cappa and right tackle DJ Glaze appear to be locked into starting spots for 2025, but Dylan Parham and Jordan Meredith have rotated at left guard throughout OTA practices so far this offseason. Parham, a third-round pick by the Raiders in 2022 at 90th overall out of Memphis, has started 48 of the 49 games he's appeared in over his first three NFL seasons, including starting 14 of 15 games played at right guard a year ago. The 27-year-old Meredith went undrafted out of Western Kentucky before joining the Raiders in his rookie season in 2022. He has started just nine of the 32 games he's played in, which gives Parham the leg up on experience alone.

Indianapolis Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay passed away at the age of 65 on Wednesday, according to The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov. Irsay had led the Colts since 1997 and is survived by his daughters Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson, his ex-wife and his daughters' mother, Meg Coyle, and 10 grandchildren. Irsay-Gordon, his eldest daughter, is the move involved in team operations and took her father's place during his NFL suspension in 2014 after his DWI arrest. Irsay was hospitalized in December of 2023 when first responders found him unresponsive in his bedroom, with police characterizing the incident as a suspected overdose. He was then not seen publicly for weeks, with the Colts saying he was being treated for a "severe respiratory illness." Irsay was one of the NFL's most influential owners and led Indy to two Super Bowl titles, with them winning Super Bowl XLI.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports a ban of the tush-push play that the Philadelphia Eagles revolutionized didn't receive enough votes at Wednesday's league meetings in Minneapolis, so the play will continue to be allowed in 2025. Retired Eagles center Jason Kelce and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie spoke to NFL owners on the merits of keeping the play before the vote. The final vote was 22-10 on the proposal, which was originally submitted by the Green Bay Packers. The proposal needed 24 votes to pass. Among the teams that were in favor of banning the play were the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots, New York Jets and Detroit Lions. In the proposal's updated language, "offensive players cannot assist the runner except by individually blocking opponents for him." The tush-push play appeared in only 0.28% of total plays in 2024, according to ESPN Research.

A vote to allow NFL players to take part in flag football for the first time during the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles is expected to pass at Tuesday's league meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota, sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter. "Olympics should be easy," one source said about Tuesday's vote. The resolution needs to be approved by at least 24 of the 32 team owners, and the NFL will then need to negotiate with the NFL Players Association, Olympic officials and nationals governing bodies on specifics of letting NFL players participate. Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has already said he'd be interested in joining the U.S. flag football squad, and many other players are likely to join him before the 2028 Summer Olympics. Hopefully for fantasy football purposes, there won't be too many injuries that arise from NFL players taking part in the Olympics in 2028.

Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan said that running back Tony Pollard carried the ball a lot last year. In a perfect world, Callahan said the team needs a more even split in the backfield with Pollard, Tyjae Spears and possibly a third back. This sounds like a nightmare for fantasy managers targeting the Tennessee backfield, especially with rookie quarterback Cam Ward set to lead the offense in 2025. If Tennessee doesn't add a back off the street, the third RB that could be involved alongside Pollard and Spears could be rookie Kalel Mullings, a converted linebacker who ran for 1,170 yards and 13 touchdowns on 221 carries in 2024. The Titans' offense relied heavily on the 28-year-old Pollard last year in his first year with the team, but fantasy managers should not be expecting that same type of volume this season.

When asked about the possibility about the New Orleans Saints brining in a more experienced quarterback after Derek Carr's sudden retirement, head coach Kellen Moore said that "we'll give these guys a bunch of opportunities" before making any calls on adding outside help at the position. The team has moved into the third phase of their offseason workouts and are doing on-field work for QBs Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, rookie second-rounder Tyler Shough and Hunter Dekkers. Moore said it will be "a lot on the process and less on the results as we go through this phase." Even though Rattler has the most experience under center in the NFL heading into his second year, Shough is the current favorite to win the starting gig in training camp this summer. The Saints aren't looking at outside help right now, but that could change if Shough struggles as the team gets closer to training camp.

The Philadelphia Eagles and head coach Nick Sirianni agreed to an undisclosed long-term contract extension on Monday, according to The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov. It doesn't come as much of a surprise after Sirianni just helped lead the team to their second Super Bowl championship last season in a blowout win over the Kansas City Chiefs, who were looking to become the first team ever to win three straight championships. Sirianni was hired before the start of the 2021 season. Since then, the Eagles have made the playoffs four straight years with two Super Bowl appearances and won Lombardi Trophy. "Nick has embodied everything we were looking for in a head coach since we hired him four years ago. His authentic style of leadership, football intelligence, passion for the game, and growth mindset have helped to bring out the best in our team. I am excited for what the future holds for the Philadelphia Eagles," chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie said.

The Philadelphia Eagles have hired Joe Douglas to a senior scouting position, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Enquirer. Douglas was the Eagles' Vice President of Player Personnel from 2016 to 2019 before being hired as the New York Jets' general manager. He spent nearly six seasons with the Jets but was fired last November. Douglas' tenure in New York had mixed reviews; he earned plenty of criticism for the Jets repeatedly finishing below .500, but there has also been some speculation that ownership influenced the roster construction and Douglas didn't have full control over the team. Regardless, Douglas now heads back to Philadelphia, where he was highly regarded during his first stint with the Eagles. McLane writes that Douglas was Eagles general manager Howie Roseman's "right-hand man" when building the 2017 Super Bowl-winning roster, and now he'll head back to Philly as the Eagles look to defend their latest Super Bowl title.

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told the media that he added 7-on-7 passing reps to the team's practice program in order to maximize reps for rookies. According to Zac Jackson of The Athletic, rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel took the first snaps in the competitive drills, which was expected given that he was selected 50 picks earlier than Shedeur Sanders. The Browns gave Sanders plenty of reps, too, and Stefanski cautioned against reading into the exact order of quarterbacks. "I wouldn't look into anything," Stefanski said. "I think you'll see this whole weekend, going through the spring we don't pay too close attention to who's in for that first snap." This surely won't be the last time we hear about competition in the Browns' quarterback room, and it's important not to speculate about any decisions with Week 1 still several months away. Over these next few months, Cleveland will look to narrow its quarterback room down from five players to just two or three. Deshaun Watson (Achilles) doesn't really factor into the Browns' plans this year, but Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Gabriel, and Sanders could all get involved.

The Cleveland Browns are expected to utilize the fullback position during the 2025 season, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic. Troy Hairston, who previously appeared in 18 games with the Houston Texans, signed a futures contract with the Browns in January. He appears to be the leading candidate to suit up at fullback. However, the team's official depth chart also lists undrafted rookie Eli Wilson as a fullback, so he'll presumably compete for a roster spot. Regardless of the Browns' final roster decision, it's hard to envision a path to fantasy relevance for either fullback.

The Las Vegas Raiders are hiring Philadelphia Eagles senior director of scouting Brandon Hunt as their vice president of player personnel, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Hunt has worked in the NFL since 2005 in various roles with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, and Eagles. He joins new Raiders general manager John Spytek's front office as a respected talent evaluator. Needless to say, the Eagles have been excellent at talent acquisition over the last half-decade and are arguably the most well-rounded team in the NFL, so this is a promising addition to a franchise looking to finally turn things around.

The Minnesota Vikings will host the NFC North division-rival Detroit Lions on Christmas Day on Dec. 25 in Week 17 in 2025 in a game that will be on Netflix, sources tell FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. The Lions went 15-2 in the regular season last year to win the division, but they were upset in the Divisional Round by the upstart Washington Commanders. Detroit beat the Vikings twice in 2024 -- 31-29 in Week 7 in Minnesota and 31-9 in Detroit in the Week 18 regular-season finale that decided the No. 1 seed in the NFC. The Vikings, who are expected to be rolling with former first-round quarterback J.J. McCarthy as their starting signal-caller this year, will be looking for revenge against their division rivals on Christmas Day. In Detroit's two wins last year, Goff combined for 511 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Super Bowl 59 rematch between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will come in Week 2 in Kansas City on Sept. 14, sources tell FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. The Chiefs were pursuing an NFL-record third straight Super Bowl championship back in February, but the Eagles spoiled their party and went up 34-0 before eventually winning 40-22 for their second Super Bowl title. As expected, both teams have several marquee primetime matchups in 2025, with the Eagles also facing the division-rival Dallas Cowboys in the season-opener on Sept. 4 and with a Black Friday matchup against the Chicago Bears on Nov. 28. The Chiefs will face the Cowboys in Dallas on Thanksgiving and will host the division-rival Denver Broncos on Christmas night.
May 14, 2025 1:25 PM EST
The National Football League announced on Wednesday that the Kansas City Chiefs will travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys for a Thanksgiving Day showdown on Nov. 27. The following month, the Chiefs will host the division-rival Denver Broncos on Christmas night. Kansas City and Dallas last played each other in November of 2021, with the Chiefs winning 19-9 after the KC defense shut down a Cowboys offense that ranked first in the league entering the game. This will be the first time that the Chiefs have played on Thanksgiving Day since 2006. They will be looking to bounce back in 2025 after being dominated by the Philadelphia in the Super Bowl in February as they looked for their third straight Super Bowl title. Meanwhile, Dallas is trying to make the playoffs again after a disappointing 2024 campaign that included quarterback Dak Prescott suffering a season-ending hamstring injury.

Quarterback Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers will open the 2025 regular season at home at Lambeau Field against NFC North rival Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Sept. 7, sources told FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Believe it or not, this will be the first time in head coach Matt LaFleur's tenure that the Packers have had a home game in Week 1. They haven't opened the season at Lambeau since 2018. The two division rivals will square off for a second time in 2025 at Ford Field on Thanksgiving Day. The Lions are the two-time defending NFC North champions and went 15-2 last year before suffering a shocking upset loss to the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round. From 1992-2014, the Packers won 24 straight home games against Detroit, including a playoff victory. However, the Lions have won the last three games in Green Bay.
May 14, 2025 1:05 PM EST
The Detroit Lions have signed rookie undrafted free agent defensive lineman Keith Cooper to a three-year, $2.98 million deal. Cooper Jr. played in 12 or more games in each of his four collegiate seasons with Tulane and Houston, totaling 119 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, eight passes defensed, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in 51 appearances. With teammates Alim McNeill and DJ Reader set to man the starting roster, his path to playing time is not exactly clear. Still, he should provide solid depth behind them as part of one of the league's better front seven. The unit allowed the sixth-fewest rushing yards per game (103.0) last season, and should again challenge as one of the more staunch fantasy matchups in 2025.
