Ollie Gordon II Questionable to Return on TNF With Ankle Injury

Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in the first half of the Thursday night game against the Baltimore Ravens and is questionable to return, according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN. Before leaving the contest to be checked out in the blue medical tent on the sideline, Gordon had only two carries for six yards and caught his lone target for a three-yard pickup. Jaylen Wright was a healthy scratch for this contest, so the Dolphins won't have anyone to back up starter De'Von Achane if Gordon is unable to return in the second half. And if Gordon's injury keeps him out beyond Week 9 -- they don't play again until Sunday, Nov. 9, against the division-rival Buffalo Bills - Wright would move up into the No. 2 role behind Achane in Miami's backfield.

Ollie Gordon II Outside Starting Range In Week 9

Managers in most standard formats should not start running back Ollie Gordon II when the Miami Dolphins play host to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9. Despite coming off his best game in the NFL with 66 total yards and a touchdown last week, the rookie isn't earning enough touches to be relied upon for fantasy purposes. Stuck behind star running back De'Von Achane, Gordon has not caught more than one pass in a game, and he has earned double-digit carries only once in eight tries, drawing exactly 10 carries last week in the Dolphins' blowout victory against Atlanta. In the RB4 range for this week's matchup, Gordon is mostly a handcuff for Achane as long as the latter is healthy.

Ollie Gordon II Earning More Touches in Miami?

Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II had the most productive game of his career in his team's Week 8 win over the Atlanta Falcons, recording 66 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 11 touches. His 10 carries against Atlanta marked the first time he has earned double-digit rush attempts in a game this season. If Miami can stay in positive game scripts, Gordon II's ability to be a physical downhill runner could be a good complement to the speed of Dolphins RB1 De'Von Achane. Gordon II also profiles as the clear handcuff in Miami to Achane. The Dolphins have a potentially difficult matchup in Week 9 against the Baltimore Ravens, who are slowly getting healthier on the defensive side of the ball. Gordon II may not carry standalone value in Week 9, but he's still worth rostering in fantasy leagues with 14 or more teams.

Ollie Gordon II is Still Getting a Few Carries Each Week

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II hasn't been able to break through yet in his rookie season, but he does continue to get some work each week. Coming into Week 8's game against the Falcons, Gordon has played around 25% of snaps over the last few weeks. He has multiple carries in each of the last five weeks, dating back to his one game with a touchdown against the Bills. He has 25 carries over his last five games, but he has only been able to manage 58 rushing yards. He's added a few catches as well, but he only has seven receiving yards all year. Gordon's low volume and the fact that Jaylen Wright is rumored to be more involved this week make Gordon an extremely high-risk play this week. He's the No. 48 RB in RotoBaller's rankings this week, meaning he shouldn't be a starter in most formats even though he does get some work.

Ollie Gordon II Sill in Very Limited Role

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II continues to serve as the primary backup for De'Von Achane, but hasn't been involved enough to make him a good fantasy play this week against the Browns. Gordon played 24% of snaps last week against the Chargers but only had two carries for one yard and one catch on one target for one more yard. He has played 14 or 15 snaps in each of the last four weeks, but he hasn't produced over 10 yards in any of those contests. He's only the RB55 in RotoBaller's rankings this week since the Browns have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. The rookie's role looks like it will remain minimal for as long as Achane is healthy.

Ollie Gordon II Playing a Limited Change-of-Pace Role in Miami

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II has played about 25% of snaps in four of his five games, usually logging about 15 snaps per game. He had a season-high nine carries in Week 3 against the Bills, when he scored his only touchdown of the year as well. The last two weeks, though, he hasn't been able to move into a larger role. Last week against the Panthers, he only managed -2 yards on three carries against the Panthers. The rookie does have some potential, but De'Von Achane is dominating the workload and production in the Dolphins' backfield for now. He will likely get some work against the Chargers in Week 6, but as the RB50 in RotoBaller's rankings, he's not a strong play in most leagues since his role has been so limited.

Ollie Gordon II Splitting Time in the Miami Backfield

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II continues to serve as the team's primary backup for De'Von Achane and a change-of-pace option with a specialty in short-yardage situations. In Week 4, he played 26% of snaps on Monday Night Football against the Jets, taking six carries for 10 rushing yards. He played 25% of snaps in Week 3 as well and seems to be settling into a 75-25 split with Achane. Gordon has the potential to return good value in a favorable matchup against the Panthers, but his usability in a flex spot remains very touchdown dependent. He'll probably get a handful of carries, but he'll need to get into the end zone to really be a strong option. Coming into his matchup in Carolina, he is the RB42 in RotoBaller's rankings for the week, leaving him best suited for the bench in most formats.

Ollie Gordon II Held in Check Monday Night

For the second game in a row, Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II was on the field for about a quarter of his team's snaps. Unlike last week, when he was able to make a fantasy contribution with his 4.2 yards per carry and first career touchdown, he was held in check during Monday night's win over the Jets. Gordon turned his six carries into only 10 yards and was unable to secure his only target. Playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league, Gordon still can't be trusted as a flex play, even as bye weeks have arrived. Clearly still viewed as little more than a change of pace back, and without the ability of teammate De'Von Achane to make something out of nothing on his limited carries, fantasy managers starting Gordon will be disappointed anytime he does not fall into the endzone.

Ollie Gordon II Looks to Establish a Meaningful Role

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II had a good training camp and preseason, but it took until Week 3 for him to really get a chance to shine this season. He'll look to build on his success this week in a favorable Monday Night Football matchup against the Jets, who have allowed three running back touchdowns in three games. Gordon got his first NFL touchdown last week after taking over in the red zone for De'Von Achane on his team's opening drive. He finished with nine carries for 38 yards and a touchdown, after getting only three carries in the first two games of the season. Gordon's physical running style is especially effective between the tackles and in the red zone, making him an excellent complement to Achane. If he is in that role again on Monday, he has touchdown-dependent upside as a flex option. RotoBaller's rankings have Gordon as the No. 46 RB, so he isn't quite a starter yet. However, if he can lock into his change-of-pace role with another strong showing this week, he definitely brings sleeper potential.

Ollie Gordon II Breaks Through, But Is He Ready for More?

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II had a big preseason and got good sleeper buzz as a result. However, once the regular season started, he played just 12 snaps in Week 1 and five snaps in Week 2. In those two contests, he had three carries for just 12 yards. Even with Jaylen Wright (knee) off the injury report, Gordon was much more active in Week 3. While he still only played 25% of snaps, he did get nine carries and totaled 38 yards and a touchdown. His score came on the first possession of the game, when he took over for starter De'Von Achane in the red zone. Gordon is much more suited for tough running between the tackles than Achane, while Achane is excellent in space. The two could develop into a nice specialized tandem going forward, and the Dolphins need them to carry the offense while Tua Tagovailoa continues to struggle. Gordon gets good matchups against the Jets and Panthers the next two weeks and is a solid name to consider off the waiver wire in deep leagues.

Ollie Gordon II Scores First NFL Touchdown on Thursday, Pushing for Increased Workload in Miami?

Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II recorded nine carries for 38 yards and his first NFL touchdown on Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills. Gordon II had logged just three carries across the team's first two games, so Week 3 represented a significant increase in touches for the rookie. At 225 lbs., Gordon II could carve out a role as the power back in Miami alongside speedy RB1 De'Von Achane. At least in Week 3, it was Gordon II who worked as the team's goal-line back and scored Miami's lone rushing touchdown of the night. The 21-year-old should be rostered as a handcuff to Achane, and Gordon II could even work his way into a fantasy-relevant role sharing touches with Achane if Miami's offense starts to pick up steam as the season progresses.

Ollie Gordon II Stuck in a Miminal Role

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II only had one carry in the Dolphins' Week 2 loss, and his snap share dropped from 25% in Week 1 to 12% in Week 2. To further complicate Gordon's future opportunities, Jaylen Wright (knee) is back to limited participation in practices, which could give him a chance to return this Thursday against the Bills. With Gordon already in such a small role and Wright's return pending, it looks safe to drop Gordon for now in standard leagues. He's still holdable in deep leagues as a handcuff for De'Von Achane since he showed so much upside in the preseason, but Gordon seems a long way from making an impact in Week 3 against the Bills, or for the foreseeable future.

Ollie Gordon II Remains a Deep Sleeper

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II apparently hit the snooze button in Week 1, since the sleeper dozed right through his NFL debut. Gordon is RotoBaller's RB54 for the Dolphins' Week 2 matchup against the Patriots after he only managed four yards on two carries and one catch for negative one yard in Week 1. He played 15 snaps (25%) and could work his way into a larger role as the season progresses. At this point, though, he's a hold for his long-term upside, not for the production he is expected to bring this week. He doesn't belong on waiver wires, but he also doesn't belong in your starting lineup ultin he has a clear path to playing time. Jaylen Wright (leg) could crowd Gordon's playing time even more when he returns, although coach Mike McDaniel said that is unlikely to be this week, and the running back is doubtful on the injury report.

Ollie Gordon II Lined Up for Primary Backup Role

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II is set to be the primary backup for the team when they open the season on Sunday afternoon against the Colts. Gordon had a strong preseason with 126 rushing yards and a touchdown, along with three catches for 48 receiving yards over his three preseason games. Gordon was a sixth-round pick of the Dolphins out of Oklahoma State, and he was the biggest running back in the draft class. He showed off his power running style this preseason and could grow into a nice complement and change-of-pace option behind De'Von Achane. Jaylen Wright (knee) has been ruled out for Week 1, leaving Gordon as the primary backup behind Achane. Gordon is the RB41 in RotoBaller's rankings for Week 1, making him one of the best backups on the board, but a long-shot starter in most standard formats. He's definitely an exciting rookie to watch in Week 1, but his role isn't big enough to start him as a FLEX play quite yet.

Ollie Gordon II an All-or-Nothing Asset?

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel addressed how rookie running back Ollie Gordon II will be used as a rookie on Wednesday. "I know he'll have zero plays, or all the plays. Zero yards or all the yards, or somewhere in between," McDaniel said. We're not really sure exactly what that means, but Gordon certainly has the potential to make noise in fantasy in his first year in the NFL, mainly because of his speed. Jaylen Wright (leg) is going to miss the first couple weeks of the season, too, which means Gordon will open Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts as the direct change-of-pace option behind De'Von Achane, who missed practice in the final few weeks of training camp due to a calf injury. The Dolphins could take it easy on Achane and give Gordon plenty of run early on, making him a worthile bench stash, even in 12-team fantasy leagues.

Ollie Gordon II Could Be a Late-Game Finisher?

An NFC scout told Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic that Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II is a "big back with nimble feet" who "could help Miami salt away leads." At 6'2" and 225 lbs., Gordon II could be the perfect complement to Dolphins RB1 De'Von Achane (calf), who is undersized but has plenty of speed and explosiveness. Achane is also dealing with a lingering calf issue, although he's expected to be ready for Week 1. Gordon II impressed in the preseason and is likely to start the season as the RB2 in Miami, so missed time from Achane would immediately give Gordon II significant fantasy appeal. If his power-rushing ability allows him to steal some short-yardage and late-game rushing attempts from Achane, Gordon II might have more value than the typical handcuff option.

Ollie Gordon II Could be a Hidden Gem for Dolphins

NFL.com's Bucky Brooks believes the Miami Dolphins might have grabbed a hidden gem in rookie running back Ollie Gordon II when they took him in the sixth round back in April's NFL draft. Gordon is an old-school RB1, Brooks writes, and ran for 43 yards on eight carries as the starter in the team's preseason finale. He has been praised by head coach Mike McDaniel for his rugged running style between the tackles, but the Oklahoma State product has also showcased soft hands on the perimeter this summer at training camp. The 21-year-old finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy race back in 2023 and could easily become a dominant force in the NFL. He's still young, but with both De'Von Achane (calf) and Jaylen Wright (leg) banged up at the start of the 2025 season, Gordon is worth a peek as a late-round RB flier in most fantasy formats this weekend.

Ollie Gordon II to See Added Volume

Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II is expected to open the season as the RB2 behind De'Von Achane (calf) with Jaylen Wright (leg) likely sidelined for the first few weeks. Achane is trending toward playing Week 1, but Gordon should see rotational snaps and remains a valuable handcuff in case of setbacks. He'll face a Colts defense that ranked 24th against the run in 2024. While his short-term fantasy appeal is limited, Gordon is worth stashing as insurance and could become a plug-and-play option if Achane were to suffer any setbacks.

Ollie Gordon II Impresses Head Coach

Following Saturday's 14-6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel noted that he was impressed with rookie running back Ollie Gordon II's performance. "I think Ollie did a very good job today of mastering the non-on-ball assignments," said McDaniel. I thought he competed...So it was a good day for a rookie back in terms of getting his feet wet. It didn't look too big for him." Gordon II got the starting nod on Saturday for the team's preseason finale with backfield mate De'Von Achane (calf) still battling a sore calf and provided a decent spark. With teammate Jaylen Wright (leg) week-to-week, the Oklahoma State product could challenge for the backup job behind Achane. Gordon II fell off during his junior campaign with the Cowboys, but racked up 2,062 scrimmage yards and 22 total TDs back in 2023. He won't threaten Achane's workload, but could be a nice change of pace option for Miami and profiles as a better short-yardage rusher (6-foot-2, 225 lbs).

Ollie Gordon II Plays Well in Preseason Finale

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II finished with 43 yards off eight carries in Saturday's win over the Jaguars. Mike Boone had only 27 yards off seven touches, although he made up for it by finding the end zone. With De'Von Achane (calf) and Jaylen Wright (leg) not a lock to be on the field for the Week 1 showdown with the Colts, it appears Gordon could be the first in line to handle the bulk of the snaps. Head coach Mike McDaniel praised the rookie after the contest, stating that the game didn't look "too big" for him. Still, with the opener a few weeks away, Achane and Wright both have time to get healthy. However, if they aren't out there, Gordon should at least be in the flex conversation.
