Tolbert was only targeted three times but make two catches for eight yards including a three-yard touchdown pass from Dak Prescott to open the scoring in the first quarter and give the Cowboys a 7-0 lead. Tolbert showed some flashes this season but played mostly in a bit role on offense, putting up a total of 22 catches for 268 yards and two touchdowns on the season.

One of Tolbert's catches was a big play for a 45 yard gain, with the other a much more pedestrian six-yard gain. It gave him two catches on two targets for 51 yards total, leaving him in second place on the team for receiving yards on a day that any Cowboy not named CeeDee Lamb struggled to do anything offensively. Tolbert has had some best ball league value this season, but has been nowhere near consistent enough to have any standard league value. That's unlikely to change in Week 17 when the Cowboys play a Saturday game against the Detroit Lions.

Tolbert has served as a nice outlet that can get separation when CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson are taking the attention of the defense. He's been very inconsistent which makes him harder to trust in any fantasy format, but he could be a sneaky play in DFS lineups during matchups like this one in Week 9. Tolbert and the Cowboys will face off against the New York Giants in Week 10.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jalen Tolbert had his best game of the young season in the 38-3 shellacking of the New England Patriots on Sunday in Week 4. Tolbert hauled in all four of his targets for 53 yards, which was third on the team in this one behind tight end Jake Ferguson and receiver Michael Gallup. Both the catches and receiving yards were career-highs for the 24-year-old Tolbert, and he also made a big special-teams tackle early in the game. Fantasy managers can continue to ignore Tolbert, even in deeper formats, as he's currently behind CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Gallup on the receiver depth chart in Dallas.

As a result, Tolbert isn't playing in Week 3 of the preseason because the "coaching staff has seen enough." While this is great news for Dallas and its young wideout, it bears mentioning that Tolbert is still likely to open the season fourth on the depth chart. He's a solid dynasty stash but can be avoided in most redraft leagues.

Tolbert was targeted six times, making four catches for 66 yards, featuring a long gain of 35. Tolbert has looked good in the preseason, but he's no better than fourth on the depth chart, and even that may be optimistic. There's certainly upside here, but it isn't easy to see him reaching it this coming season.
