Josh Cameron Showing Promise as a Deep-League Waiver Stash

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Josh Cameron is making a case for a roster spot in deeper fantasy leagues after another encouraging performance in Week 5. The rookie caught three of six targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 19-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, setting a career high in targets after drawing just six combined through his first four games. Cameron has eight receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns on the season, despite playing a relatively limited role in Jacksonville's offense. He was on the field for just 22 offensive snaps (31%) against Philadelphia but drew twice as many targets as Brian Thomas Jr., who played 37 snaps. Parker Washington and Jakobi Meyers remain firmly ahead of Cameron in the receiving rotation, while Thomas continues to command more playing time. Still, Cameron's ability to earn opportunities without a full-time role makes him an interesting name to watch. Jacksonville faces Houston in Week 6 before heading into its bye, limiting his immediate appeal. Fantasy managers in leagues with 14 or more teams and sufficient bench space can justify stashing Cameron, particularly if his involvement continues to increase.

That's not a very large snap share by any means, but it's still a solid mark for a rookie, and it indicates that he'd be the next man up to handle a much larger role if any of Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, or Brian Thomas Jr. were to miss time. He's particularly appealing ahead of the upcoming trade deadline, as Thomas' name continues to come up as a trade candidate. If the Jaguars do move on from Thomas, it would be a clear sign that they believe Cameron is capable of handling increased responsibilities on offense. We've already seen him strengthen his rapport with Trevor Lawrence, and he's an intriguing option on the waiver wire, especially given the positive state of Jacksonville's offense.

Over the past three seasons at Baylor, Cameron returned 45 punts at a highly respectable 14.0-yard average, but, built more like a running back than a traditional X-receiver, his brightest future in the league could come as a kickoff returner. With some fantasy leagues adapting to the NFL's dynamic kickoff changes and rewarding return points, Cameron is not entirely unworthy of a roster spot, but in most formats, he is best left on waivers.

Jaguars Draft Baylor Receiver Josh Cameron in the Sixth Round

The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected Baylor wide receiver prospect Josh Cameron with the 191st overall pick in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Cameron joins a crowded Jaguars wide receiver room that already features Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter, and Parker Washington. He spent five years at Baylor, ascending into a high-impact role over his final two seasons. Between the 2024 and 2025 campaigns, he caught 121 passes for 1,626 yards and 19 touchdowns. There's talent here, but given how deep the Jags' receiver room is, we don't see much of a path to fantasy relevance for Cameron. He can be avoided in most fantasy drafts.
