De'Zhaun Stribling Keeps Earning Brock Purdy's Trust
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling keeps giving Brock Purdy reasons to trust him. Purdy told Jeremy Fowler that Stribling has a unique ability to attack the football, play with strong hands and rip it away from defenders, something he has been showing consistently in practice. Purdy also pointed to how rarely the rookie makes mental mistakes, saying Stribling lines up correctly every play and calling that "a vet thing." The production has followed. Stribling caught seven passes for 63 yards against Tennessee in his preseason debut, then added four catches for 46 yards on five targets against the Chargers on Thursday. That's 11 grabs for 109 yards through two games. The 33rd overall pick still has veterans to battle for snaps, but Ricky Pearsall (knee) is out for the season and Stribling keeps making his case. This has gone beyond a few good camp practices. He's earning Purdy's trust and has a legitimate shot to be involved right away.

Brock Purdy Sees First Preseason Action Against Chargers
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy got the start in Thursday's preseason meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers. Purdy connected with several receivers on Monday for explosive plays, including with Stribling for a 50-yard touchdown down the right sideline. With Ricky Pearsall (knee) done for the year, Purdy and Stribling could be hooking up for big gains down the field a lot in 2026. Even with injuries already prevalent throughout the 49ers' locker room in training camp, Purdy is an obvious bounce-back candidate this season after missing a large chunk of 2025 with a foot injury. Fantasy managers should view him as a low-end QB1/high-end QB2 target in upcoming drafts.

The Niners are reuniting with veteran Deebo Samuel Sr., too, and Purdy still has All-Pro RB Christian McCaffrey to dump the ball off to when all else fails. A lack of rushing prowess limits Purdy's overall fantasy upside, but he's not a bad low-end QB1/high-end QB2 target for a bounce-back if he stays healthy in his fifth year in the NFL.

With Christian McCaffrey coming off a 450-touch season, George Kittle already questionable for the start of the year as he recovers from a torn Achilles, and new number one receiver Mike Evans turning 33 before the start of the season, banking on health in San Francisco may not be the soundest strategy, but if the unit can avoid catastrophic derailment, Purdy should prove to be a steal in 2026 and beyond as RotoBaller's dynasty QB13.
