Brock Purdy Still A Top Option Despite Challenging Week 5 Opponent

As usual, Purdy will also have George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, and Deebo Samuel Sr. to turn to as well. Despite facing one of the NFL's more intimidating defenses, Purdy has top-12 potential and can be started in Week 5.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy completed just 15 passes (out of 27 attempts) in Week 3, but he passed for a season-high 297 yards and four touchdowns in the team's 36-30 win over the Cardinals. Purdy is now up to 789 yards on the season, has a 72.3% completion percentage, and a league-leading nine passing touchdowns. Purdy may be without Mike Evans (ribs) in San Francisco's upcoming matchup with the Broncos, as the wide receiver is managing a rib injury sustained last weekend and will be a game-time decision on Sunday. Even without Evans, Purdy should remain an effective fantasy option, as he will still have Deebo Samuel Sr., George Kittle, and Christian McCaffrey at his disposal. He seemingly had no issues as he completed 20-of-22 passing attempts for 287 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Purdy also rushed the ball three times for 30 yards and another score on the ground. Purdy has been incredible through his first two games, with five passing touchdowns and nearly 500 passing yards. The 49ers have been dealing with injuries, but that hasn't stopped them from being one of the best offenses early in the season. He'll continue to be a strong QB1 against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3.

In a favorable home matchup, Purdy should fulfill low-end QB1 expectations and can be started with confidence.

Brock Purdy Fresh Off Dominant Week 1 Win, Enters Softer Stretch of Schedule
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was excellent during the team's Week 1 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, throwing for 205 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also rushed for 29 yards and didn't take a sack. The passing yardage total was on the lower side, but only because the 49ers controlled the game and could afford to run the ball. Once they got in scoring range, Purdy used his arm to rattle off the three touchdowns. It will be interesting to see if the high rushing yards total is sustainable, as Purdy eclipsed the 29-yard mark just once last year, but he consistently showed that level of mobility back in 2024. Purdy was the QB6 in 2023 and the QB14 in 2024, so fantasy managers certainly wouldn't mind if he returned to that caliber of play. More touchdown opportunities await Purdy in the coming weeks as he prepares for matchups against the Dolphins and Cardinals. He should continue to rank as a top-10 quarterback in fantasy football.

Brock Purdy Shines in Upset Win Over Rams
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy completed 25 of his 34 pass attempts for 205 yards, three passing touchdowns, and one interception during Thursday's Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Rams. He also rushed for 29 yards and didn't get sacked. Outside of the interception, Purdy had a phenomenal performance against the Rams in Australia, headlined by his 74% completion rate and three touchdowns. He was able to produce at such a high level despite wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling (ankle) and tight end Jake Tonges (knee) exiting early, as well as tight end George Kittle playing on a reduced workload. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy continues to rank as a fringe top-12 option in fantasy football, largely due to the support of the playmakers surrounding him. In addition to wide receivers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel, Purdy will have the luxury of throwing the football to George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey, who are both among some of the league's best players at their respective positions. With a relatively similar-looking offense last year (other than Evans in place of Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall), Purdy tallied 2,167 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, and 10 interceptions across nine games. The touchdown total was impressive, but managers will need him to clean up the turnovers going forward. The good news is that Purdy ranked as the overall QB5 in fantasy points per game in 2025, so a top-five finish is not completely out of the question if he's healthy for all 17 games in 2026. At the very least, he's in good shape to rank as a top-12 fantasy quarterback. As it stands, he has an ADP of 106.3, which corresponds to the ninth round and makes him the 13th quarterback off the board.

De'Zhaun Stribling Keeps Earning Brock Purdy's Trust
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling keeps giving Brock Purdy reasons to trust him. Purdy told Jeremy Fowler that Stribling has a unique ability to attack the football, play with strong hands and rip it away from defenders, something he has been showing consistently in practice. Purdy also pointed to how rarely the rookie makes mental mistakes, saying Stribling lines up correctly every play and calling that "a vet thing." The production has followed. Stribling caught seven passes for 63 yards against Tennessee in his preseason debut, then added four catches for 46 yards on five targets against the Chargers on Thursday. That's 11 grabs for 109 yards through two games. The 33rd overall pick still has veterans to battle for snaps, but Ricky Pearsall (knee) is out for the season and Stribling keeps making his case. This has gone beyond a few good camp practices. He's earning Purdy's trust and has a legitimate shot to be involved right away.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy got the start in Thursday's preseason meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers. Purdy was removed after the 49ers' opening drive, and he finished the game 4-for-6 for 29 passing yards and one rushing attempt for three yards. Purdy's first pass went to Deebo Samuel Sr., who recently re-signed with the 49ers after spending last season with the Commanders. A lack of rushing prowess limits Purdy's overall fantasy upside, but he's not a bad low-end QB1/high-end QB2 target for a bounce-back if he stays healthy in his fifth year in the NFL.

Selected with the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been stuck with the underdog label for most of his career, and even in dynasty leagues, he remains an undervalued asset despite routinely proving himself among the most valuable at the position. In his first season as a full-time starter, Purdy finished as the QB6 in 2024, and while significant injuries to his number one receiver and running back led to issues of consistency in 2025, he still gutted his way to a QB14 finish in 15 games, closing the season with 31.2 points per game in the final two weeks of the fantasy playoffs. 2025 saw him dealing with a serious turf toe injury for much of the year, but returning in Week 11 and playing the final seven games, he averaged 23.8 points per game, again going nuclear with a 37.7-point average in the fantasy playoffs and QB1 finishes in Weeks 16 and 17. With Christian McCaffrey coming off a 450-touch season, George Kittle already questionable for the start of the year as he recovers from a torn Achilles, and new number one receiver Mike Evans turning 33 before the start of the season, banking on health in San Francisco may not be the soundest strategy, but if the unit can avoid catastrophic derailment, Purdy should prove to be a steal in 2026 and beyond as RotoBaller's dynasty QB13.

Since taking over as a full-time starter, Purdy finished as the fantasy QB6 in 2023 and the QB14 in 2024, despite missing two games. While a significant turf toe injury limited him to only nine games in 2025, he was a fantasy difference maker in almost every one of those appearances. From Weeks 11 through 17, Purdy was the QB4, including back-to-back QB1 finishes and a 34.9-point average in the final two games of the fantasy playoffs. Christian McCaffrey, Mike Evans, and George Kittle will all be on the wrong side of 30 for the 2026 season, with Kittle already a question mark for the start of the year as he recovers from a postseason Achilles tear, but when healthy and on the field together, they should create one of the league's most fantasy-friendly groups of pass-catchers in Kyle Shanahan's high-powered offense. Purdy is 26 years old heading into his fifth season, and at RotoBaller's dynasty QB13, he is still undervalued as a perceived QB2 in superflex leagues with legitimate QB1 upside.
