Bhayshul Tuten Pulling Ahead in RB Competition

According to Travis Holmes of Big Cat Country, Jaguars rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten appears to be pulling ahead in the RB competition during team practices. Holmes noted that Tuten "looks like a hard man to take off the field." While veteran running backs Travis Etienne Jr. and Tank Bigsby have been given more opportunities with the first team during training camp, the fourth-round rookie has been making a strong case to take the starting job. During his preseason debut, Tuten ran the ball six times nd picked up 24 yards and a rushing score. Even though he was deployed as the No. 3 running back in this game, seeing him flash more potential during practice should quickly push him up the depth chart. Last season, Etienne had a disappointing campaign, posting a career-low 3.7 YPC. For now, Tuten remains an intriguing late-round target in drafts as he could slowly take over the starting job as the season progresses.

Bhayshul Tuten Getting More Team Reps

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten has continued to see an increase in team reps in practice, per John Shipley of SI.com. Tuten logged another positive showing on Tuesday, ripping off "the best run of the day" on an explosive play up the middle. The fourth-round pick from Virginia Tech tied Tank Bigsby for the team lead in carries (six) and yards (24) in the Jaguars' preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. He also scored Jacksonville's sole rushing touchdown of the game and caught two passes for 16 yards. Tuten is listed behind co-starters Bigsby and Travis Etienne Jr. on the Jags' unofficial depth chart, but it's notable that he has impressed new head coach Liam Coen enough to receive first-team work in practice on occasion. He'll have a chance to continue turning heads against the New Orleans Saints this Sunday.

Bhayshul Tuten Running with Starters on Monday

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten got "a lot of run" with quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the first-string offense during Monday's practice, according to ESPN Radio's Mia O'Brien. O'Brien also reports that head coach Liam Coen was "very complimentary" of the 23-year-old's running in their preseason loss to the Steelers. Tuten was the third (and final) Jaguars running back to receive a touch in that one, but tied backfield mate Tank Bigsby for the team lead in carries (six), yards (24), and scored their lone rushing touchdown. By the looks of it, Travis Etienne Jr. is still the top dog here, with Tuten and Bigsby vying for touches behind him. However, Bigsby outproduced Etienne Jr. in 2024, and this room feels more open for the taking than initially anticipated. Jacksonville's final two preseason games should shed some more light on how this backfield will operate come the regular season.

Bhayshul Tuten has "Inside Track to the No. 3 RB Role"

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten got off to a slow start this summer at training camp due to a hamstring injury, but since then, SI.com's John Shipley reports that he's been stacking good days together and has been 100% healthy. Tuten's speed is on display, and "it seems like he has the inside track to the No. 3 RB role" behind Travis Etienne Jr. and Tank Bigsby. Shipley adds that Tuten's "burst and ability to get downhill and find a crease has stood out consistently." The 23-year-old has also been breaking tackles and should have a complementary role in head coach Liam Coen's offense this year at the very least. Fantasy-wise, the fourth-rounder probably is going to go undrafted in standard-sized, single-year leagues, but he's a worthwhile stash in dynasty/keeper formats for his high-end speed and big-play abilities.

Bhayshul Tuten Returns to Practice in Limited Capacity

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten (hamstring) participated in positional drills but not in the team portions of Jacksonville's training camp practice on Thursday, according to ESPN's Mia O'Brien. Tuten had missed the last few days of practice with a hamstring injury, but it appears as though it will not cause him to miss significant time. Drafted in the fourth round out of Virginia Tech, Tuten rushed for 1,159 yards and 15 touchdowns in 11 games last season for the Hokies. He's competing with Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby for playing time in the Jaguars' backfield, but early reporting indicates that Tuten is the clear RB3 in Jacksonville at this point.

Bhayshul Tuten Day-to-Day With Hamstring Injury

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten (hamstring) remains out of training camp practice on Monday and is day-to-day with a hamstring injury, according to head coach Liam Coen. It doesn't sound like a serious injury for Tuten, but any time missed for a rookie in camp is notable. The 23-year-old fourth-round selection will most likely serve in the No. 3 role in his first NFL season behind Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne Jr., which means he'll be left to the waiver wire in standard-size formats to begin the season. The 5-foot-9, 206-pounder has blazing speed, though, so he's a big play waiting to happen when he's on the field. However, unless Bigsby or Etienne are sidelined by injury or the Jags trade Etienne, it's hard to envision Tuten being on the field for more than a handful of snaps initially in 2025.

Bhayshul Tuten the Clear No. 3 at Sunday's Practice

SI.com's John Shipley writes that Jacksonville Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby was once again the focal point in the backfield at Sunday's training camp practice, while Travis Etienne Jr. was active as a pass-catcher. Meanwhile, rookie Bhayshul Tuten looked like the clear No. 3 for the Jags. Shipley cautions that it's early in the summer, but it's looking like Bigsby could take over as the leader of Jacksonville's backfield in 2025, with Etienne working as more of a pass-catcher out of the backfield on clear passing downs. The 23-year-old Tuten was taken 104th overall in the fourth round in April and is one of the fastest backs in the NFL already with 4.32-second 40-yard-dash speed. In 2025, Tuten is really only a dynasty/keeper asset. He needs to work on his ball-security and also probably needs to get better as a pass-catcher, but his speed makes him intriguing long term.

Bhayshul Tuten Needs to Improve Pass Protection

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten was one of the fastest players in the 2025 NFL draft and ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at the scouting combine, which was the fastest among RBs. Tuten has often been compared to Miami's De'Von Achane for his home run ability. However, he's on the small side at 5-foot-9 and 209 pounds, and head coach Liam Coen said that Tuten needs to improve in pass protection as he heads into his first year in the NFL. Barring a significant change in training camp and the preseason, Travis Etienne Jr. is expected to remain the team's starting back. The 23-year-old had 1,159 yards and 15 touchdowns in 183 rushing yards last year at Virginia Tech. He's raw and needs to improve his ball security and pass protection, but his elite speed could get him on the field sooner than later in Jacksonville.

Bhayshul Tuten Inks Rookie Deal

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to terms with rookie fourth-round running back Bhayshul Tuten on a four-year contract. The financial terms were not divulged. The Virginia Tech product is a bit undersized (5-foot-9), but exhibits tantalizing athletic ability and could push for a significant role in Jacksonville's offense this season. It won't be easy, with returning backfield mates Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne in the fold. Still, neither really separated himself from the other over a disappointing 2024 for the organization. Furthermore, Tuten is far and away the most explosive back of the trio and offers a three-down skill set. Playing time could be sparse early on, but if the rookie adjusts to the league quickly, he could hold some sleeper appeal in what projects to be an exciting offense.

Bhayshul Tuten Could Make Impact In First Season

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten could make a significant impact during his first NFL season, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. In particular, Fowler notes that Tuten could carve out a significant role simply by process of elimination. Jacksonville's new coaching and front office regime isn't very high on incumbent starter Travis Etienne Jr., and they're also aware of Tank Bigsby's fumbling issues. There's a lot to be said about a new staff bringing in its own guys, and it's possible they could look to phase Tuten into the offense right away. As a fourth-round pick, Tuten will still have to earn opportunities, but that hasn't been a problem for him in the past. At Virginia Tech last year, he ran wild with 1,159 rushing yards and 17 total touchdowns.
