New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor has seen his role in the team's offense grow with each week of the NFL season so far. In Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys, Taylor set season highs in targets (12), catches (nine), and receiving yards (67). The 21-year-old now has 20 catches for 175 yards on 28 targets through five games, and he appears to be the clear number two option in the Jets' passing game behind star wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Taylor should be rostered in all PPR leagues with 12 or more teams, although he does get a tough matchup in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos.

New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor hopes to continue building on his expanded role in Week 5 when his team hosts the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium. After a slow first two weeks, in which he caught 2-of-3 targets, the rookie has burst onto the scene, hauling in nine receptions across the Jets' previous two outings. Taylor still has some work to do before fantasy managers can confidently roll him out on a weekly basis, but 13 targets in two weeks is encouraging, and it appears he'll be thrust into prominence sooner than later with a lack of options outside of running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Dallas' defense presents as vulnerable opposition, and it will be a good test for the LSU product as he tries to establish himself in the pros. Taylor is RotoBaller's PPR TE22 ahead of Week 5's matchup.

New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor again saw increased volume in his team's 27-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 4. The rookie set all new career-highs in Monday night's defeat, corralling 5-of-7 targets for 65 yards. In addition to those marks being new personal bests, they were good enough for second on the team behind wide receiver Garrett Wilson. After the solid outing, it's clear that this passing attack will funnel through Taylor, Wilson, and running back Breece Hall, as they're lapping the field in target share. Wilson commands most of quarterback Justin Fields' attention, so the LSU product will be subject to games with limited target quantities. However, he's an ascending asset with a TE1 finish under his belt. Taylor will have an excellent chance to continue his string of success in Week 5 against a Cowboys team that is friendly for fantasy.
Sep 30, 2025 1:21 PM EST
New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor will get another opportunity in Week 4 to seize a larger role in his team's offense when they square off with the hosting Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football. The rookie is far and away the team's leader in snaps at tight end, and he finally saw a solid target figure in Week 3 (six). However, that was with Tyrod Taylor manning the helm. Justin Fields will return to the team in Week 4, meaning New York could choose to dial back the pass attempts as they had before his departure in their loss to the Bills. That said, the LSU product ranks third on the Jets in terms of targets (nine), and he's undoubtedly still adjusting to the professional level of competition. Taylor will be difficult to trust for fantasy until he strings together a few weeks of steady output. He'll be one to monitor for now, though, if not for nothing else than New York's dearth at the skill positions. The 21-year-old is RotoBaller's PPR TE31 for Monday's matchup.
Sep 27, 2025 7:16 PM EST
New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that the team wants "to do everything we can to get Mason Taylor more involved." "He's a dynamic player for us. He's a guy that we all recognize needs to get the ball more," Glenn added. The 21-year-old second-rounder out of LSU has only six catches on nine targets for 43 yards and no touchdowns in his first three NFL games, but he did have a season-high four receptions on six targets in the Week 3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor running the offense. It could be a sign of things to come as the Jets look to get Taylor more involved, but for now, fantasy managers should consider him a TE2 bench stash. Taylor and the Jets offense have a good upcoming matchup in Week 4 against the 0-3 Miami Dolphins, so it will be interesting to see if he can build on his Week 3 performance.
Sep 25, 2025 12:35 PM EST
New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor saw his involvement tick up in Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reeling in 4-of-6 targets for 18 yards. It didn't amount to much in the box score, but the LSU product tied running back Breece Hall for the second-most targets on the team, and continues to work clearly ahead of veteran TE Jeremy Ruckert, nearly doubling him up on snaps through three contests (141-74). Taylor's position is notorious for being a slow-developing one, so it isn't surprising to see him be a non-factor for fantasy early on. With that said, the six targets are the most he's seen, and he tripled his catch total in Week 3's effort. Whether he can continue his trajectory when starting quarterback Justin Fields (concussion) returns to play remains to be seen, but the 21-year-old is at least trending in the right direction. He'll try to keep it going against a vulnerable Miami Dolphins defense in Week 4.
Sep 23, 2025 3:52 PM EST
New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor cannot be trusted for fantasy purposes this weekend when his team squares off with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road. The 21-year-old was able to suit up in Week 2 despite being hampered by an ankle injury earlier in the week. He again made minimal impact, having accrued just three targets (2/25) through his first two professional contests. New York touted the young tight end during the offseason, but he hasn't had an opportunity to get going. Undoubtedly, some of the blame falls on the LSU product, but gaining traction as a tertiary pass-catcher in a run-centric offense is a tall task - particularly for a rookie. Taylor stands to eventually boast a more significant volume of touches, in part due to his own talent and the lack thereof around him. Until then, he won't be a recommended option for fantasy. He's RotoBaller's PPR TE33 this week.
Sep 20, 2025 8:02 AM EST
As expected, New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor is far and away the team's TE1, although it hasn't amounted to much on the stat sheet. After leading teammates Jeremy Ruckert and Andrew Beck in snaps by a wide margin in their loss to the Steelers in Week 1, the same was true in their outing with the Buffalo Bills. Ruckert (17) again played half as much as Taylor (34), with Beck mixing in minimally (one). However, Taylor and Ruckert mimicked each other's production with a one-catch, five-yard line - the only difference being that the former accrued one more target (two) and the latter a touchdown. The favorable bet seems to be that the rookie continues to lead this room in playing time. He'll have a chance to carve out a role in the passing game, considering the Jets' skill players don't offer much behind wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall. Still, fantasy managers can't take the LSU product seriously for starting purposes until he averages more than one catch per appearance. He'll face the hosting Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday.
Sep 16, 2025 11:54 AM EST
New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor (ankle) is officially active and will play on Sunday against the division-rival Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium. Taylor was listed as questionable on the final Week 2 injury report, but he will be available for the Jets and fantasy managers. The 21-year-old second-rounder played 88 percent of the offensive snaps in the Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he only had one catch (on one target) for 20 yards, despite the team putting up 30 points. He'll be looking to increase his production against a Bills defense that just gave up 40 points to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, although Ravens tight end Mark Andrews only had one catch for five yards. Fantasy managers should consider Taylor more of a TE3 on Sunday in just his second NFL game.
Sep 14, 2025 12:15 PM EST
According to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor (ankle) is likely to be available when his team takes on the division rival Buffalo Bills. The rookie is listed as questionable on the Jets' official injury report, but he practiced Friday and has made progress throughout the week, putting him in line to see the field Sunday. Taylor had one catch for 20 yards in Week 1, and he could see some additional work this week. But given the matchup against Buffalo, Taylor should only be considered in formats that start two tight ends.
Sep 14, 2025 7:32 AM EST
New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's divisional contest against the Buffalo Bills. The rookie tight end opened the week as a non-participant but was able to upgrade to limited participation on Thursday. On Friday, Taylor was able to log a full session, but the Jets opted to place an injury designation on him heading into the weekend. However, seeing that he was able to log a full practice on Friday is a positive sign for his status this weekend. In his NFL debut, Taylor saw only one target and was able to bring it in for 20 yards. He was able to log more snaps than veteran Jeremy Ruckert, but Ruckert saw more targets in the passing game. If Taylor were to suit up, he would have risky TE2 upside facing the Bills.
Sep 12, 2025 4:38 PM EST
New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor (ankle) is back on the practice field on Thursday after he sat out of the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. Although Taylor's status for Week 2 against the division-rival Buffalo Bills could still be up in the air, his return to practice is a good sign. We'll have a better idea of his availability once we know if he was full or limited, but right now it looks as though he's trending toward being active on Sunday. The 21-year-old got off to a quiet start to his NFL career in the Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, catching just one pass, although it did go for a healthy 20-yard gain. Taylor has plenty of long-term upside, but early on, he's probably only a stash option in single-year, TE-premium leagues. For Week 2 against Buffalo, consider him a TE3.
Sep 11, 2025 3:15 PM EST
New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor (ankle) was unable to participate during Wednesday's initial practice session due to an ankle injury. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status as he could be closely monitored heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Bills. In his NFL debut last Sunday, the LSU product caught his lone target for 20 yards. He took the backseat to Jeremy Ruckert, who was able to bring in two receptions for 16 yards. If Taylor were to sit out in this game, Ruckert would see the majority of targets at the tight end position. However, fantasy managers should expect top wide receiver Garrett Wilson to remain Justin Fields's clear top option as he drew a hefty nine targets in their loss to Pittsburgh.
Sep 10, 2025 5:16 PM EST
New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor will make his Jets debut this Sunday when his team hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers at MetLife Stadium. The 21-year-old rookie was an ascending talent during his time with LSU, garnering the role of a three-year starter. Taylor set the Tigers' single-season tight end reception record in his final campaign (55) and will get an opportunity to impact the NFL field immediately. New York's passing game is lacking in strong options behind wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall, leaving a significant portion of quarterback Justin Fields' passing volume ripe for the taking. It remains to be seen how often the Jets will air it out, but Taylor is an above-average athlete and runs a diverse route tree. He's one to watch early on, even if it might take him a bit to get going. The first-year pro comes in at RotoBaller's PPR TE30 for his NFL debut.
Sep 6, 2025 11:05 AM EST
New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor has a chance to emerge as a key contributor within the team's passing game this season. A second-round pick out of LSU, Taylor recorded 55 catches for 546 yards and two touchdowns in his final collegiate season. The 21-year-old reportedly had an impressive training camp and is poised to open the season as the Jets' top tight end. New York does not have a clear secondary target-earner behind star wide receiver Garrett Wilson, so Taylor could conceivably work his way into a prominent role early in the year. He should not be counted on for fantasy TE1 production, but Taylor could end up being a value as a late-round flier in deeper leagues.
Aug 30, 2025 12:33 PM EST
New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor was one of many key players who did not play in the team's final preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday. A second-round pick out of LSU, Taylor battled an ankle injury earlier in training camp but has reportedly impressed in practice during his time on the field. Taylor was listed behind Jeremy Ruckert at tight end on the team's first unofficial depth chart. However, Ruckert was on the field for the preseason finale, which could indicate that Taylor will open the season as the team's top tight end. Taylor should not be expected to provide top-12 fantasy production at the position early in his rookie season. However, he could eventually emerge as a key contributor in New York with the team low on pass-catching talent behind top wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Aug 24, 2025 3:01 PM EST
New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor has impressed coaches throughout preseason, positioning himself for a major role in the passing game. At 6'5" and 251 pounds, Taylor brings the physicality to hold up as a blocker while flashing reliable hands as a receiver. His ability to contribute in both phases makes him an ideal safety valve for quarterback Justin Fields, who will lean on quick reads in a new-look offense. Taylor carries late-round sleeper appeal in fantasy drafts, with the upside to emerge as a consistent starter if his preseason momentum translates into regular-season production.
Aug 22, 2025 12:26 PM EST
New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor (ankle) has returned to training camp practice and is a full-go, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. Taylor has recovered quickly from what was being called a high-ankle sprain. The 21-year-old second-rounder missed the team's preseason opener last week, but now that he's back to full practices, he should be able to suit up for Saturday's second preseason game against the New York Giants. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues are probably going to ignore Taylor in 12-team leagues, but it's worth noting that he's fully expected to open the year as the Jets' top pass-catching tight end. The Jets' offense is expected to lean heavily on the ground game, but quarterback Justin Fields won't have many weapons to throw to outside of WR1 Garrett Wilson. Taylor should be a TE3 with upside for more.
Aug 12, 2025 3:08 PM EST
New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor (ankle) has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, according to Connor Hughes of SNY. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could be sidelined for at least the opening game of the preseason and potentially longer, given the severity. The Jets selected the former LSU Tiger in the second round (42nd overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft. Taylor tallied a career-high 546 yards on 55 receptions during his final season at LSU in 2024. For the time being, Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt should continue to see most of the starting opportunities. Taylor appears to have a path to earning the starting role, given the lack of production on the depth chart. However, this injury could make it difficult for Taylor to earn key reps during training camp. For now, fantasy managers should view him as a dynasty stash and only a late-round option in deeper, 14+ team redraft leagues.
Aug 5, 2025 11:27 AM EST
New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor (ankle) did not practice on Monday because of an ankle injury, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post. Head coach Aaron Glenn will provide an update on Taylor's status on Tuesday. A second-round pick from LSU, Taylor has been a standout this summer and will have a strong chance to earn the No. 1 tight end job if he's healthy. Jeremy Ruckert is listed as the starter ahead of Taylor on the Jets' unofficial depth chart, but he caught just 35 passes and no touchdowns over 41 games in his first three seasons. Taylor, on the other hand, racked up 129 receptions and six scores during his three-year run at LSU.
