Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn has the advantage of kicking indoors for a third straight week to start the season, as his team heads to Indianapolis to take on the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn knocked through a 58-yard field goal in Week 1 and converted all four of his extra point attempts in his team's 36-31 loss to the Bills. He'll be at home at Reliant Stadium for a second straight week in Week 2 against the Bengals, who showed huge improvement on defense in Week 1 against the Bengals. The Texans' offense will be without star WR Nico Collins (hamstring), which lowers the team's overall scoring potential a bit. This offseason, Houston locked up the 32-year-old from Hawaii with a two-year, $13 million extension. While the offense hopes to be more efficient in the red zone this season, especially after adding David Montgomery, Fairbairn remains a very strong option at the position. In Week 1's home matchup against the Bills, Fairbairn is the No. 10 kicker in RotoBaller's rankings, and he's a solid, reliable start in almost all formats.

Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn is coming off about as good a fantasy season as a kicker can have. He made 44 of 48 field-goal attempts in 15 games, tying David Akers' NFL single-season record for makes, and went a perfect 28-for-28 on extra points. The distance wasn't a problem either. Fairbairn hit all 16 of his tries from 40 to 49 yards and went 9-for-13 from 50 to 59, with a long of 57. Houston also gave him a two-year, $13 million extension in March that keeps him under contract through 2028. The only thing worth pushing back on is last year's volume. Forty-eight field-goal attempts led the league, and counting on another season like that is asking a lot. Fairbairn doesn't need to get there again to be useful. He has the leg, the accuracy and a secure job on a Houston offense that gave him plenty of chances last year. He still belongs near the top of the kicker pool in redraft.

Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn was nearly automatic last season. He made 44 of 48 field goals in 15 games, tying the NFL single-season record, and didn't miss once from inside 50 yards. Fairbairn was plenty dangerous from farther out, too, hitting nine of 13 attempts from 50-plus and finishing with 25 made field goals from at least 40 yards. That workload helped him average a position-best 12.9 standard fantasy points per game. Asking for another 44 field goals would be aggressive, especially if Houston does a better job turning red-zone trips into touchdowns this year. Fairbairn doesn't need that kind of volume to stay near the top of the position, though. He has converted better than 91% of his field goals in three of the last four seasons, and RotoBaller has him 165th overall and K2 in its August 8 half-PPR rankings. Aubrey is the first kicker off the board, but Fairbairn belongs right behind him.

Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn led the NFL with 44 made field goals in 2025 despite missing two games with a quad injury, and his 12.9 standard fantasy points per game led the position, but changes to the Texans offense could hurt his value in 2026. The Texans scored touchdowns on only 45.9% of their red zone trips last season, better than only the Saints, Jets, and Chargers, but in trading for running back David Montgomery, they have acquired one of the league's most efficient red zone runners of the past three seasons. Since 2023, Montgomery has scored 29 rushing touchdowns from inside the 20-yard line, and his presence could drastically cut down on Fairbairn's scoring opportunities. With a field goal conversion percentage above 91% in three of the past four seasons, Fairbairn is still as reliable as they come, but with fewer projected chip shots, he could struggle to deliver upon his current ADP of K2.

His 44 field goals made tied David Akers' record in 2011 for most field goals made in a single season. Fairbairn has made 87.6% of his 291 career field-goal attempts since entering the league in 2017 as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA. Not only does Fairbairn have a strong and accurate leg, but at least half of his games are indoors in Houston. Fairbairn finished as the No. 2 fantasy kicker last year, behind only the Seahawks' Jason Myers. Going into fantasy drafts this fall, Fairbairn should absolutely be considered a top-five option at the kicking position.

Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said on Thursday that kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn (quadriceps) has been ruled out for the Week 11 divisional game on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, according to Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle. Fairbairn injured his quad in the Week 9 loss to the Denver Broncos and will now miss a second straight game. The Texans have a quick turnaround next week with a game on Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills, so it's possible the 31-year-old veteran won't be ready for that one, either. Matthew Wright filled in for Fairbairn in the Week 10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and made his only field-goal attempt and his only extra-point try in the 36-29 victory.
