Full go at practice Wednesday

Granson (illness) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice.

Analysis: Granson was inactive for Week 12 due to an illness, which led to a breakout game for Jelani Woods (shoulder). Now that Granson is healthy, he'll look to reclaim his spot as the Colts' top tight end against the Cowboys, especially if Woods, who didn't practice Wednesday, is unavailable for Week 13.

Inactive Monday

Granson (illness) inactive for Monday night's game against the Steelers.

Analysis: With Granson out, look for Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods to handle the bulk of the Colts' tight end snaps in Week 12, with Nikola Kalinic in reserve. Granson will now target a potential return to action in Week 13 versus the Cowboys.

Now listed as doubtful

Granson (illness) has been downgraded to doubtful for Monday night's game against the Steelers.

Analysis: Granson, who didn't practice this past week, had been listed as questionable, but with the downgrade to doubtful, the tight end is trending toward missing Monday's contest. If Granson is unavailable, the stage would be set for Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods to handle the bulk of the Colts' TE snaps in Week 12.

Status in question for Monday

Granson (illness) is questionable for Monday's game against the Steelers, Ben Arthur of FoxSports.com reports.

Analysis: Granson was absent from all three practices of Week 12 prep due to an illness, but the Colts will give him a bit more time before making a decision on his availability. If he's able to suit up Monday, he'll join Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods in a timeshare at tight end for Indianapolis, which so far has resulted in a 25-249-0 line on 32 targets for Granson this season.

Misses another practice

Granson (illness) missed practice again Friday.

Analysis: Granson now has just one more chance to return to practice ahead of Monday night's game against the Steelers. If the 2021 fourth rounder is unable to suit up for the contest, Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods would be in line to handle the bulk of the Colts' TE snaps in Week 12.

Listed as DNP on practice estimate

Granson (illness) was listed as a non-participant in Thursday's walk-through.

Analysis: The tight end now has two more chances to return to practice before the Colts' final injury report is submitted ahead of Monday night's game against the Steelers. Through 11 contests, Granson -- who caught his only target for 16 yards in last Sunday's loss to the Eagles -- has caught 25 of his 32 targets for 249 yards, but he's been a hit-or-miss option of late, while working in a tight end time share with Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods.

One catch in Week 11

Granson caught his only target for 16 yards in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Eagles.

Analysis: Granson has yet to find the end zone in his second NFL season, nor has he carved out a consistent pass catching role in the Colts' run-first offense. The tight end has been held to two or fewer catches in seven of 11 games heading into a Week 12 home game against the Steelers on MNF>

Four catches against Vegas

Granson caught all four of his targets for 57 yards in Sunday's 25-20 win over the Raiders.

Analysis: With Jelani Woods (shoulder) inactive and Mo Alie-Cox dealing with an ankle injury in practice during the week, Granson wound up with less competition for targets than usual at tight end and had one of his best games of the season. The 2021 fourth-round pick is still looking for his first career TD in the NFL, but he continues to tease some intriguing upside. Even with Matt Ryan back under center for the Colts, however, the team's offense may struggle to move the ball in Week 11 against the Eagles.

No receptions in loss

Granson did not have a reception and just one target in Sunday's loss at New England.

Analysis: Mo Alie-Cox got the start at tight end and played more snaps than Granson (34 to 26) but they were closer in routes (19 to Alie-Cox and 17 for Granson). Jelani Woods played 18 snaps before exiting with a shoulder injury. Granson looked to be leading the trio in the passing game, but he took a step back last week and Indy's passing woes make any of the tight ends a long shot each week for viable fantasy value.

Three receptions Sunday

Granson had three receptions for 11 yards on three targets in Sunday's loss to Washington.

Analysis: While Mo Alie-Cox got the start at tight end, Granson had the most snaps on offense (32, compared to 29 for Alie-Cox) and went out on about the same number of routes (12, compared 23 for Alie-Cox and 10 for Jelani Woods). There were not any major changers in tight end usage, despite the change to Sam Ehlinger. Granson looks to lead the trio and none of the three are used much except for an occasional end-zone target.

Just one target Sunday

Granson had one reception for six yards on his lone target in Sunday's loss at Tennessee.

Analysis: Granson led Indy's tight ends in routes run (18, compared to 15 for Mo Alie-Cox and 14 for Jelani Woods), but Indy's passing game couldn't get on track. None of the three tight ends were a factor Sunday with a combined two receptions and three targets. Granson still looks like the top receiving tight end, but all three are splitting the targets and there will be games like Sunday where none are a factor.

Practices fully Thursday

Granson (neck) practiced fully Thursday.

Analysis: With his full return to practice Granson is all but locked into Sunday's game against Tennessee. The Colts are committed to forging Granson into their primary pass-catching tight end, though through 23 career games productive results have not yet surfaced.

Limited at practice

Granson (neck) was limited at practice Wednesday.

Analysis: Granson logged 31 of a possible 81 snaps on offense in this past Sunday's win over the Jaguars en route to catching all four of his targets for 38 yards. Through six games, Granson has caught 16 of his 22 targets for 159 yards, while working in a tight end time share that also includes Mo Alie-Cox (11/136/2) and Jelani Woods (5/73/3).

Leads tight end group in win

Granson started at tight end and had four receptions for 38 yards on four targets in Sunday's win over Jacksonville.

Analysis: Granson got the start and played the most snaps and went out on the most routes of the tight end group. He played 31 snaps and went out on 25 routes, compared to Jelani Woods (31 snaps, 24 routes) and Mo Alie-Cox (28 snaps and 13 routes). Each Colts tight end has alternated big weeks, but Alie-Cox didn't have a target and Indy appeared to change their offensive game plan to more of a fast tempo offense. Granson's increase in production may be the start of a trend.

Limited to one catch Thursday

Granson secured one of three targets for 16 yards during the Colts' 12-9 overtime win over Denver on Thursday.

Analysis: Granson had a season-high four receptions for 62 yards last week against the Titans, but his one catch during Thursday's matchup marked his lowest total of the season. While the Colts had trouble generating much offensive production as a whole against Denver, Granson has been inconsistent over the first five games of the year.

Four receptions in loss

Granson had four receptions for 62 yards on four targets in Sunday's loss to Tennessee.

Analysis: The Colts played two and three tight ends frequently in the passing game against the Titans (a combined 11 receptions for 170 yards). Granson played on 29 of the offense's 65 snaps and went out on 17 routes which was behind Mo Alie-Cox's 45 snaps and 26 routes and similar to Jelani Woods' 15 snaps and 11 routes. Alie-Cox had two touchdown catches after Woods had two touchdowns the week before. Each week it seems a different tight end is the top option in the passing game, but the larger trend is the Colts may utilize their tight ends more in the passing game with the secondary receivers failing to make a big impressions (most notably Parris Campbell).

Just two receptions Sunday

Granson had two receptions for seven yards on two targets in Sunday's win over Kansas City.

Analysis: After two games, it looked like Granson may emerge as the top tight end in the passing game and see a larger share of the targets. However, that trend took a step back in Week 3. Granson played fewer snaps (42 to 30) and ran fewer routes (23 to 13) than Mo Alie-Cox, though he more targets (but just two to one). However, Jelani Woods caught two touchdowns (running just 12 routes), making him another viable tight end in the passing game. The end result is Granson's role is too small and inconsistent for most fantasy formats.

Just two receptions Sunday

Granson had two receptions for 14 yards on two targets in Sunday's loss at Jacksonville.

Analysis: While Granson didn't have a productive day and the offense struggled (scored no points), Granson again was the top tight end target in the passing game. He played the same number of snaps as Mo Alie-Cox (27) and went out on more routes (20 to 17) though Cox did have three targets.
