Waived by Patriots

Martin was waived by the Patriots on Monday, Jim McBride of The Boston Globe reports.

Analysis: Martin stopped for a cup of coffee in New England after signing with the team Sunday. He spent last offseason with the Giants but was waived just before OTAs. The running back will now look to find his third home before the start of the regular season.

Latches on with New England

The Patriots signed Martin to a contract Sunday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Martin's latest stop was with the Giants this offseason, but found a new home as training camp winds down. The Rutgers product faces an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster, but could make an appearance in the final two preseason games.

Waived by Giants

Martin was waived by the Giants on Thursday, Matt Lombardo of NJ Advance Media reports.

Analysis: Martin initially seemed to have made the Giants' 53-man roster before the 2018 season, but he was ultimately waived before Week 1 and then spent the entire year on the team's practice squad. After re-upping on a reserve/future contract this winter, he's now being let go a day after New York signed veteran running back Rod Smith. That the Giants let him go over an undrafted free agent in Jon Hilliman might speak more to what the organization thinks of Hilliman than anything against Martin.

Sticks with Giants

Martin signed a reserve/future contract with the Giants on Monday, GiantsWire reports.

Analysis: Martin initially was able to crack the Giants' 53-man roster in September, but was waived prior to Week 1. The undrafted free agent out of Rutgers faced long odds to earn a roster spot last season and will likely have a similar situation in 2019.

Waived by Giants

Martin was waived by the Giants on Wednesday, Michael Eisen of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: Martin was one of five running backs to make the Giants' initial 53-man roster, but he didn't last long once the team needed to clear room for linebacker Nate Stupar, who was recently let go by the Saints. The undrafted rookie will now return to the free-agent market if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

Battling ankle injury

Martin exited Thursday's preseason game with an ankle injury, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

Analysis: Martin had three carries for 11 yards and played only eight snaps before being ruled out with the injury. The undrafted rookie out of Rutgers was facing long odds to make the 53-man roster prior to the injury.
