Tommy Tremble Trending in the Right Direction

Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble continues to recover from back surgery and is able to do light jogging at practice, according to a video posted by ESPN's David Newton. Earlier in training camp, Tremble was placed on the active/PUP list, and Panthers GM Dan Morgan said that he could not put a timetable on when Tremble would be activated. Second-year tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders has been working with the first team offense while Tremble has been out, and he could get the advantage in playing time if Tremble continues to miss time. Last year, the two rotated at tight end with Sanders catching 33 passes for 342 yards and a touchdown and Tremble catching 23 passes for 234 yards and two scores. If you're looking for a sleeper tight end, Sanders will be an interesting name to watch if Tremble isn't ready to get back in action before Week 1.

Tommy Tremble's Return Not Imminent, But he's Progressing Well

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales would not say that tight end Tommy Tremble (back) will be back in two weeks at training camp, but he could return in four weeks. Despite starting camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list this week, Tremble is making good progress from back surgery that he had in May. With the 25-year-old out for another couple of weeks at least, it brings into question whether he'll be available for the Week 1 regular-season opener in early September. Even if Tremble is ready to roll by then, he should remain off the fantasy radar in most leagues, as he's mostly known for his blocking and should take a back seat in the pass-catching department to Ja'Tavion Sanders. The former third-rounder in 2021 has never had over 23 catches or 234 yards in his four-year career with the Panthers.

Tommy Tremble Placed on PUP List

The Athletic's Joe Person reports that the Carolina Panthers have placed tight end Tommy Tremble (back) on the PUP list. Tremble underwent back surgery in May, from which he's still recovering, but the team can remove him from the list at any time. It was always presumed that the 25-year-old would begin his ramp-up at the end of July, and that remains the case. Carolina's offense could be a surprise source of fantasy output in 2025 if third-year signal-caller Bryce Young can sustain the gains he exhibited to close out last season. If that's the case, Tremble could continue to build off his improvements, too. He's currently an afterthought in drafts.

Tommy Tremble Not Expected Back by Training Camp

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble (back) is not expected to return by training camp at the end of July after having back surgery, according to head coach Dave Canales. Barring a setback, the team is hoping to get Tremble back sometime during the preseason. The Panthers are going to bring the 25-year-old along slowly after he had a back procedure in the middle of May. With Tremble sidelined, Ja'Tavion Sanders and rookie fifth-rounder Mitchell Evans will see more reps in OTAs and mandatory minicamp this month. When healthy, Tremble profiles as more of a blocking tight end, which doesn't make him much of an option in fantasy leagues. The former third-rounder (83rd overall) in 2021 out of Notre Dame matched his career-high with 23 catches last year for a career-high 234 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games (11 starts).

Tommy Tremble Underwent Recent Back Procedure

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble (back) underwent successful back surgery last week, according to head coach Dave Canales. The Notre Dame product is expected to be ready for training camp. Tremble, a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has tallied 85 receptions for 782 yards and nine touchdowns in 61 career games. The 24-year-old is a solid rotational tight end, but he'll likely be sharing time with Ja'Tavion Sanders and Mitchell Evans in 2025. The Panthers' tight end room could be one to watch if quarterback Bryce Young takes a big Year-3 leap, but for now, it's tough to be optimistic about any of these players, and they might not be on the fantasy football radar in regular setups.

Carolina Re-Signs Tommy Tremble To Two-Year Deal

The Carolina Panthers are re-signing tight end Tommy Tremble to a two-year deal. Joe Person of The Athletic reported the news. Tremble spent the last four seasons with Carolina after being selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, though he never eclipsed 23 receptions or 234 yards -- figures he reached this past season in only 12 games. The 24-year-old acted as the Panthers' primary TE for most of the 2024 season but split time pretty evenly with then-rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders near the season's end. Carolina's offense ended last season on the up-swing. Still, uncertainty surrounding the Notre Dame product's role in the offense should cause fantasy managers pause before dumping a pick into him this offseason. Despite the potential upside of the Panthers' pass attack manned by an improving Bryce Young, Tremble is worth nothing more than a late-round best ball flyer at this point.

Tommy Tremble Should Not Be Started In Week 17

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble should not be started in an formats in Week 17 when he faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tremble logged two limited practice sessions during the week due to shoulder and back injuries but is no longer listed on the injury report. Over his past three games, Tremble has seen just 2.3 targets per game while splitting opportunities with rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders. Over this three-game stretch he has tallied just 16.7 yards per game. Over his past five games, Tremble has surpassed 40+ receiving yards just once. Given his lack of consistent production, fantasy managers should keep him out of all lineups despite facing a weak Tampa Bay secondary that has allowed the sixth-most PPR points to opposing tight ends this season.

Tommy Tremble Pops Up On Week 17 Injury Report

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble (back, shoulder) was added to the Week 17 injury report on Thursday and was listed as a limited practice participant. It's unclear if Tremble was actually injured in Thursday's practice, but if he was, he'll be firmly in danger of missing Sunday's divisional game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 24-year-old has seen more targets in recent weeks than rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders, and he caught all three of his targets for 32 yards in the Week 16 upset win over the Carolina Panthers in overtime. Tremble still isn't seeing enough volume in an inconsistent Panthers offense to be considered anything more than a TE2 sleeper in fantasy, but he might not even be available this weekend. If Tremble misses practice on Friday and is ruled out, Sanders would suddenly enter the picture as a TE2 sleeper in deeper formats.

Tommy Tremble Garners Three Receptions Against Cardinals

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble caught three passes for 32 yards with no touchdowns in Sunday's 36-30 overtime win against the Arizona Cardinals. Tremble has been in and out of Carolina's lineup due to multiple injuries and the emergence of rookie tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders but has seen increased playing time and subsequent targets in recent weeks. This outing tied his second-most receptions and yards in a game this season. Much like his week-to-week production, Tremble's future with the Panthers remains unclear. Heading into a Week 17 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he is not a viable fantasy option outside of deep league or TE premium formats.

Tommy Tremble Records First Touchdown Of Season

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble caught just one pass for three yards in their 22-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. It was a quick, outbreaking route on 4th-and-goal that gave the veteran his first touchdown of the year. Tremble has battled various injuries to his hamstring, back, and head this year, so finding pay dirt in Week 14 was extra meaningful. Still, with rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders (neck) returning this week, Tremble's value moving forward is questionable. Tremble is mainly an option in deep leagues when the Panthers host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15.

Tommy Tremble Targeted Eight Times In OT Loss To Tampa Bay

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble recorded five catches on eight targets for 77 yards in Sunday's 26-23 overtime loss to Tampa Bay. The outing matched his total yards combined from his previous six games this season. The resurgence comes in the absence of rookie tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders (neck), who was out and did not practice last week. While Tremble has not found the end zone this season, he could be worth a look in tight end premium leagues, especially if Sanders misses time. With six teams on the bye in Week 14, Tremble is a potential streamer in deep leagues against the Philadelphia Eagles if Sanders is out again.

Tommy Tremble In Line For Larger Role In Week 13

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble should see the field more in Week 13 against the division-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday with rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders (neck) ruled out. Sanders suffered a scary neck injury in the Week 12 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, and although he avoided a serious injury, he won't be active on Sunday. Tremble played 82% of the offensive snaps last week due to Sanders' injury, which was his highest snap percentage of the year since Week 4. The 24-year-old was only targeted twice, though, catching one pass for a five-yard gain. Tremble only has 10 receptions on 14 targets for 77 yards and no touchdowns on the year in his six games played, so he should remain on the waiver wire in most fantasy formats heading into Week 13 action. However, he could be worth a look in deep two-tight end leagues in hopes he can find the end zone for the first time in 2024.

Tommy Tremble Inactive For Week 10

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble (back) is inactive for Week 10 against the New York Giants. He had been listed as questionable after logging a full practice on Friday. Despite his improved practice status, Tremble will miss his second game in a row and fourth game in the last five weeks. His absence creates additional opportunities for rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders, who has 16 catches over his last four games.

Tommy Tremble Questionable For Week 10

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble (back) is officially listed as questionable to play in Week 10 against the New York Giants on Sunday in Munich, Germany. Tremble practiced in full on Wednesday and Friday while being limited on Thursday. Meanwhile, rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle, wrist) was cleared to play after popping up on the injury report on Thursday. The 24-year-old Tremble has missed four of the last five games due to injury, but he appears to be on the right track to suit up overseas this weekend. Still, fantasy managers desperate at the tight end position should be able to find better streaming options in deep leagues. Tremble will probably take a back seat to Sanders, who has become a bigger part of the offense in recent weeks. In his five games played in 2024, Tremble has nine grabs on 12 targets for just 72 yards and no touchdowns.

Ja'Tavion Sanders, Tommy Tremble Limited On Thursday

Carolina Panthers tight ends Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle, wrist) and Tommy Tremble (back) were both listed as limited in Thursday's practice. Meanwhile, Feleipe Franks (concussion) practiced in full for the second straight day. Tremble was a full-go on Wednesday, while Sanders is popping up on the injury report for the first time this week. Sanders has certainly been more involved in recent weeks as a pass-catcher than he was in the first four games of his NFL career. He's had at least five targets in four of his last five games and has a 19-217-0 line in his last five games. The 21-year-old has yet to find the end zone, though, and remains nothing more than a low-upside TE2 streamer in deeper fantasy leagues if he's active in Week 10 in Germany against the New York Giants. The return of Tremble would certainly be bad news for Sanders.

Tommy Tremble Ruled Out For Panthers

Carolina Panthers tight ends Tommy Tremble (back) and Feliepe Franks (concussion) have both been officially ruled out for the Week 9 divisional clash on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Tremble was able to practice in full on Friday but still picked up a questionable tag on the final injury report. The 24-year-old missed Weeks 6 and 7 with a back injury but returned in last week's loss to the Denver Broncos to catch two of his three targets for 13 yards. Apparently his back issue worsened after last Sunday's game, causing him to miss another contest. With both Tremble and Franks out this weekend, it will open the door for rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders to operate as the team's clear pass-catching TE. At best, the 21-year-old fourth-rounder will be a deep-league TE2 streaming option. Sanders has 20 receptions for 158 yards and no scores in his first eight NFL games.

Tommy Tremble Active For Week 8

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble (back) is officially active for Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction after logging a full practice on Friday. The 24-year-old has been active for four games this season, totaling just seven catches and 59 yards. Despite being healthy this week, Tremble is expected to operate as the Panthers' backup tight end behind up-and-coming rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders.

Tommy Tremble Questionable To Face Broncos

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble (back) upgraded to a full participant in practice on Friday. However, he is still listed as questionable to face the Denver Broncos in Week 8. The 24-year-old was Carolina's top tight end when healthy, but he only caught seven passes through parts of four games. Since his last appearance in Week 5, rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders has taken on a much bigger role offensively, registering 11 receptions and 110 yards over his two most recent games. The stats would suggest that Sanders starts at tight end in Week 8, even if Tremble is healthy enough to play.

Ja'Tavion Sanders, Tommy Tremble Limited Again On Thursday

Carolina Panthers tight ends Ja'Tavion Sanders (groin, wrist) and Tommy Tremble (back) were both limited participants in practice for the second straight day this week on Thursday. With Tremble inactive last weekend, Sanders was one of the few bright spots for the Panthers on offense in their 40-7 loss to the Washington Commanders, catching all six of his targets for 61 yards. However, the 21-year-old could struggle to replicate those numbers in Week 8 versus a strong Denver Broncos defense on the road this Sunday, especially with second-year quarterback Bryce Young back in as the starter following an injury to Andy Dalton (thumb). In addition, Sanders probably won't see as many snaps on offense if Tremble is able to return to the fold this weekend. Sanders has only 19 receptions on 24 targets for 151 scoreless yards in his first seven NFL games in 2024.

Oct 24, 2024 3:18 PM EST

Ja'Tavion Sanders, Tommy Tremble, Limited With Injuries

Carolina Panthers tight ends Ja'Tavion Sanders (groin, wrist) and Tommy Tremble (back) were both listed as limited for Wednesday's team practice. Tremble has been in and out of the lineup all season with a myriad of injuries and hasn't appeared in action since the team's Week 5 loss to the Chicago Bears. Wednesday marked his first practice session since last Thursday. Conversely, Sanders has been among the more productive Panthers over the last few weeks, but the groin and wrist injuries are new. Over the next few days, his status will be telling regarding the team's Week 9 road tilt against the Denver Broncos. However, even if he's healthy -- fantasy managers contemplating starting him this weekend may want to exhibit caution against an excellent Broncos' defense. Additionally, second-year quarterback Bryce Young will be making his first start since Week 2, with veteran Andy Dalton (thumb) dealing with the aftereffects of a recent car accident.
