Lands practice-squad contract

Mabry signed with the Seahawks' practice squad Wednesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Analysis: Mabry did not survive Seattle's final roster cuts Tuesday after playing eight games with the team in 2021, albeit in a special-teams-first role (81 of his 103 total snaps). The 25-year-old, who has yet to catch a pass in the NFL, will now look to work his way back onto an active roster this regular season -- either with the Seahawks or elsewhere.

Waived by Seahawks

Mabry was waived by the Seahawks on Tuesday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Mabry is the odd-man out at tight end after the Seahawks acquired Noah Fant from the Broncos via trade this offseason. Mabry was on the active roster for eight games with the Seahawks last year, operating mostly as a special-teams option. He will likely return to the team's practice squad if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Targeted twice in preseason loss

Mabry caught one of two targets for seven yards in Saturday's 32-25 preseason loss to the Steelers.

Analysis: Mabry played eight games for the Seahawks in 2021 but handled just 22 offensive snaps. He'll be on the roster bubble heading into the 2022 season because Noah Fant and Will Dissly are locks for the final roster and Colby Parkinson is heavily favored.

Joins active roster

Mabry was signed to the Seahawks' active roster Saturday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athleticr reports.

Analysis: Mabry has appeared in seven games for the Seahawks this season, but he hasn't seen a target on 20 offensive snaps. With Will Dissly (heel) questionable, Mabry has a shot to slide into the third position on the tight end positional depth chart Sunday against the Cardinals.

Reverts back to practice squad

Mabry reverted to the Seahawks' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction report.

Up from practice squad

The Seahawks elevated Mabry from the practice squad Saturday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: Mabry earned some run in six of Seattle's first seven games of the season, totaling 18 snaps on offense and 55 on special teams. He's still in search of his first NFL target, which may come to pass Sunday versus the Bears with the Seahawks down Will Dissly (COVID-19).

Added to Seattle's practice squad

Mabry was signed to the Seahawks' practice squad Monday, John Boyle of Seahawks.com reports.

Analysis: Mabry was waived by Seattle on Friday but will return to the team after being added to the practice squad. He appeared predominantly as a special teams player through the first five weeks of the season and hasn't been elevated to the 53-man roster since Week 7.

Waived by Seattle

Mabry has been waived by the Seahawks, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Analysis: Mabry was a casualty during final roster cuts prior to the season, but signed to the 53-man roster days later from the practice squad. With other needs on the roster, it looks like the fourth-string tight end was simply the odd man out.

Signed from practice squad

Mabry signed a contract with the Seahawks on Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: Mabry was waived at roster cutdowns but stuck around Seattle on the practice squad, and he didn't have to wait long for to receive a promotion. He would serve as the No. 3 tight end for Week 1 should Colby Parkinson (foot) be unable to take the field.

Agrees to future contract

Mabry signed a reserve/future contract with the Seahawks on Monday, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.

Analysis: Mabry signed with the Seahawks as a free agent in April of 2020 after going undrafted. The Maryland product couldn't secure a spot on the final roster, but he'll aim to carve out a role with the team in 2021.

Waived by Seahawks

Mabry was waived by the Seahawks on Saturday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: In a difficult preseason, the undrafted free agent failed to secure a role on the active roster, as the Seahawks opted to keep four veteran tight ends.
