Tyler Shough Leaves Fantasy Managers Plenty to Believe In
New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough made a pretty convincing case for himself before his rookie season ended. Over his final five games, Shough completed 69.9% of his passes for 1,316 yards, five touchdowns and only two interceptions while New Orleans went 4-1. He gave fantasy managers something on the ground too, adding 135 rushing yards and three more scores during that stretch. It was enough to earn him NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month honors for December and January. Shough now enters Year 2 without a quarterback competition and with Chris Olave coming off the best season of his career. First-round receiver Jordyn Tyson will miss the beginning of the year on injured reserve, so the supporting cast isn't completely intact. Still, Shough's finish is difficult to brush aside as one good game or a short hot streak. If that late-season version sticks around, he could move well beyond being viewed as just another matchup-dependent fantasy quarterback.

Shough is still only QB22 in RotoBaller's Sept. 3 rankings. For managers waiting on quarterback, that leaves plenty of room for him to beat the price.

In nine starts, he went 5-4, and he finished the season with 2,384 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, six interceptions, plus 186 yards and three scores on the ground. There is upside here. There is also a reason to separate his redraft and dynasty prices. Shough turns 27 in September, was only a second-round pick, and has nine NFL starts behind him. RotoBaller lists him at QB21 in both redraft and dynasty, while its overall dynasty board has him 140th. At a QB21 redraft ADP, he is a reasonable late target because the job is secure and the offense improved. Dynasty managers should be more careful. A strong 2026 could push his value higher, but a slow start would raise questions quickly. He is worth drafting as a QB2 in redraft, though he looks more like a hold or selective sell than an aggressive dynasty buy.

That type of production in an offense that didn't have very high expectations instantly vaulted Shough into the top-12 conversation for dynasty and 2026 redraft leagues. Now, he's trending up once again after the Saints spent a premium first-round pick on a wide receiver. New Orleans drafted Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson with the No. 8 overall pick, making him the second pass-catcher off the board. It was impressive to see the Saints get such an elite weapon for Shough without having to trade up. Additionally, tight end Juwan Johnson is under contract through 2027. Plus, we can't forget that the Saints gave a four-year deal to Travis Etienne Jr., who will make Shough's life easier both in the running and passing games. Much credit is due to the Saints for their offensive improvements this offseason. The solidification of their offense gives Shough a steady floor and tremendous upside in both redraft and dynasty formats.
