Mayle (undisclosed) has reverted to the Chargers' injured reserve, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: Mayle was hoping to make the Chargers 53-man roster after spending much of his 2018 season on their practice squad. However, he ended up getting waived with an injury designation and going unclaimed. As a result, he will spend his 2019 season there unless both parties reach an agreement on an injury settlement.

Mayle signed a futures deal with the Chargers on Monday, Ricky Henne of the Chargers' official site reports.
Analysis: Mayle spent the majority of the season on the team's practice squad after appearing in 23 games over the past three seasons split between the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens. While Antonio Gates future remains up in the air, the Chargers still retain Hunter Henry, Virgil Green and Sean Culkin -- leaving Mayle as the long shot tight end.
