Alexander Mattison Inefficient As Raiders Feature Back

Monday, October 7, 7:55 AM

Las Vegas Raiders' running back Alexander Mattisonhad his first opportunity as the team's lead rusher against the Denver Broncos in Week 5, but Denver's defense mostly stifled him. The sixth-year pro had just 38 yards on 15 carries, good for 2.5 yards per carry, and added two receptions on three targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 34-18 loss. Mattison also rushed for a two-point conversion on a touchdown by his backup, Ameer Abdullah. Running room has been challenging for the former Viking to find, as the Raiders don't pose much threat to opposing defenses in the passing game. Things are looking grim again for Week 6, when the Raiders will face the Pittsburgh Steelers, who allow the second-least fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. With the potential return of lead back Zamir White (groin) from injury, Mattison is best left on the bench for his upcoming game.

Ray Davis News

Ray Davis Still A High-Upside Bench Stash

Friday, October 4, 10:40 AM

Buffalo Bills running back Ray Davis remains one of the best running back bench stashes across the league as the NFL enters Week 5. Under offensive coordinator Joe Brady, the Bills lean on James Cook and the running game. The rookie has been called upon to spell Cook on early downs. Veteran Ty Johnson would command the passing downs work if Cook suffered an injury. Blowouts have given Davis several opportunities, averaging over eight carries per game over the last three contests. In a closer game, his touches are likely cut in half. Keep Davis on fantasy football benches against Houston.
