Ameer Abdullah Likely to Lose Playing Time in Jacksonville Going Forward

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Ameer Abdullah was productive on a limited number of opportunities in his team's blowout Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns, recording 32 yards from scrimmage on five touches. Abdullah functioned as Jacksonville's RB3 behind Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Bhayshul Tuten against the Browns. However, second-year Jaguars back LeQuint Allen Jr. (hip) played just one snap in Week 1 after missing extended time in training camp due to injury. Allen Jr. functioned as Jacksonville's primary third-down back for much of 2025, and Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said that he will play a much larger role in the team's game plan going forward. Once Allen Jr. is fully reintegrated into the Jacksonville offense, Abdullah will likely slide down to the Jaguars RB4 role and could even be a cut candidate.

Commanders Elevate RB Craig Reynolds from Practice Squad Amid Injuries

Washington Commanders running back Craig Reynolds has been elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts in London. Washington needed another healthy body with Rachaad White (shoulder) ruled out, and the move also adds some uncertainty around how much Austin Ekeler will be asked to do right away. Ekeler only rejoined the Commanders earlier this week after recovering from last season's Achilles tear, so the team has had just a few practices to work him back into the offense. Reynolds' elevation doesn't necessarily mean Ekeler will be inactive, but it gives Washington another option if his workload is limited. Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Kaytron Allen are also available in a backfield that suddenly has several moving parts. Reynolds may end up serving mostly as depth Sunday, but his elevation is worth noting with White unavailable and Ekeler's immediate role still unclear.
